Sanctuary? I think not. I hope they will not be able to open again because it seems the only rest is a terminal one. A sad accuse for a sanctuary.

Disgusting and inhuman treatment.
No sentence to jail time would be or could be long enough or harsh enough for the owners of this so called sanctuary.

This is disgraceful, these precious lives didn't deserve this. This is heartbreaking. May the ones that did this get punished to the max.

I live a few miles from this "sanctuary". I have driven past the locked gate. I think visits were by appointment only. It was family run. They used to have a donation jar in the local Tractor Supply store. Several years ago, my husband gave them a donation. We had read about them and thought we were giving to a good cause. A couple years ago, Napier's had cats for adoption in cages outside the Tractor Supply store entrance. I happened to be passing by when an adoption was happening. The poor cat was being sent into a bad situation (I overheard the conversation between the adopter, a grandmother adopting a cat for her grandsons who did not live with her, and the Napier's girl). More recently, I have seen Napier's posting cats for adoption on petfinder.com for hundreds of dollars - any cat that could possibly resemble a pure bred was advertised as a pure bred and they were apparently desperately trying to make money. I have despised the sanctuary since the adoption incident at Tractor Supply (I buy bird seed there). Now I am thinking that they probably started out with good intentions, naive and ignorant, and became overwhelmed. I think it happens a lot with people who try to rescue animals and create sanctuaries. I hope that the dogs, cats, and horses that were rescued from Napier's find loving homes.

How sad in every way. The animals deserved much better. Those who donated were mislead, lied to. Places like this do so much damage to the reputation of the hard working no kill shelters that do so much good.

Disgusting. How people can live with themselves knowing they have done these animals wrong, I'll never understand. Thanks Kelly

You know I might believe some of this if it did not come from examiner.com. Examiner.com is part of the Philip Anschutz empire, he is sort of a WY and CO Koch Brothers mini-me oil et alia Billionaire. He helped the Bush/Cheney Administration oppose the Kyoto Accords, sits on the Boards of the American Petroleum Institute and the National Petroleum Council and a big investor in Forest Oil, the Pacific Energy Group, and Oil and Gas Asset Clearing House. He opposes Gay rights particularly Same Sex marriage through financial donations to Colorado For Family Values. It is like trusting media run by Rupert Murdock.

I am a firm believer in the volunteer checking of all shelters. One of the reasons I volunteer at the two I do is to ensure that things are on the up and up with both of them. If you cannot get in to visit during "normal" business hours; cannot tour ALL of the facilities and hear problems with their adoption procedures, or see them trying to "sell" animals at a high price -- know there's a problem. Want to protect the animals -- volunteer. It helps them get socialized and adopted much more quickly too.

Not exactly earth shattering news, and my suspicion is that if PETA was investigated more, the numbers would be staggering. There is absolute proof of them taking healthy individuals from supposed "kill shelters" under the guise of finding homes and then the animals are killed and discarded. Of course, they always have some lame excuse.
