The Copenhagen Zoo in Denmark recently euthanized a healthy giraffe, allegedly in order to avoid inbreeding. Though multiple organizations had offered to rehome the surplus giraffe as an alternative, and many petitions urged the zoo to save the young

Thank you Kelly.
I signed already five or six petition against this horrid deed. Too late for poor Marius, but I hope it'll prevent this from happening again.

Action completed. This little guy trusted his caretakers and for them to blatantly murder him (not humanely) is absolutely disrespectful, outrageous and a disloyalty to him and all other animals that reside in zoos. They have dishonored these animals that they are there to protect. Thanks Kelly.

Unfortunately according to todays news there is another Danish zoo which will kill a healthy male giraffe in order to get a female to breed with it's other male. What is the point of a zoo if it kills its animals?

I fail to see how after 18months a relocation solution could not be found. When organisations such as these undertake breeding in captivity greater care and responsibilty for the outcomes of these animals lives is a priority and duty of care. I shudder to think of the many others that have been removed as solution to a procriation problem they created. I understand that giraffe in the wild may very well become a lion pack meal...but not like this. God gave us these beautiful creatures and the responsibilty to care for them. Like many of you commenting I will seek out all petitions related to man pointless killing , canned killings and trophies.

Such senseless waste of a young and beautiful life. I hope they all lose their jobs and are shunned for the monsters they are.
