Dog meat is found commonly across Nagaland and to an extent in Mizoram. Since dog meat is common but dogs are not 'farmed' as they are say in Korea & China they are smuggled into Nagaland from Assam, much as they are from the countryside of Vietnam, Laos

Welcome to a meat-eating society -- is this one really and frankly so different from yours? Dogs or cats are considered companion animals in our society, which makes many people opposed to their maltreatment, slaughter, and consumption. So-called farm animals gain much less support from the general population, although their suffering and the injustice involved is the same. Disregardful of the species or man-made labels, killing remains killing in principle and thus should be opposed invariably.
