All national park services have to be licensed to shoot as a last resort to protect rare species from being eaten by gulls, rats etc. We all disagree with killing. But do we also disagree with saving a nest of chicks from a predator if every other option has been used up. That's why America's national parks have so much biodiversity, we have to protect the vulnerable animals. I respect anyone who disagrees with me but it's an interesting ethical point to ask yourself.

Humans are not GOD. Killing one animal to save another is ridiculous. There is always a better alternative. Animals have long survived the many challenges they've come across---well that's until humans showed up--and what a disaster that's turned out to be. Thanks

WWT have a response here -
To be honest, I don't think it's that unusual for conservation organisations to carry out this sort of control. If they're trying to conserve one species, they're going to have to control its predators.

Horrific. Why are the British so keen to "cull" everything? I get heartily sick of it. And I am a UK citizen myself!

This is just bloody sickening - that is like killing off all black people to make things better for white people!! What the hell is wrong with the humans on this earth - I am so sick of it you have no idea. The majority of us think that we were given a right to just go on a killing spree of animals that we don't like, well, that right was never ours and sure as hell we are going to have to answer for it one day. Please God, let it be soon.

Where there a petition for this? Hunters will look for any excuse to kill, very sick people. I really believe all hunters are closet serial killers, how else could they kill like they do.
