I have not watched yet, though I really appreciate it, Alf, that you are bringing this to our attention. Some day I will dare to watch this. Truth needs to be seen, I totally agree, humans should not watch away any longer, we all must know what we have done and still have been doing to the animals and to the planet. We should stop to "destroy", nature and other living beings than humans can fight back, I'm conscious of this.

I, unfortunately, could not watch through to the end either. Shocking? Only when vividly presented. But deep down we KNOW the truth. It's time we face the things we do openly and honestly. We need to change.
Thank you, Alf.

SHAKESPEARE: "EVEN AN ANT FEELS THE SAME PAIN AS A KING." I TOOK THE TIME TO WATCH THE VIDEO ALL THE WAY THROUGH. EXTREMELY WELL-DOCUMENTED AND COULD POSSIBLY START ANOTHER WAR. GOYAS AGAINST . . . OBVIOUSLY, OUR TIME HAS COME WE MAY POSSIBLY LIVE TO SEE THE DAYS OF WHERE THERE IS NOT FOOD FIT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION, WHERE CANNIBALISM WILL PREVAIL. ACTUALLY IT HAS ALREADY BEEN SUGGESTED BY A CHRISTIAN VEGETARIAN ORGANIZATION, THAT UPON OUR DEMISE WE OURSELVES SHOULD BE RECYCLED. WILLY PICTON SENT HUMAN REMAINS TO THE RENDERING PLANT. WE ARE FEW IN NUMBERS ON CARE2.CON IN THIS BATTLE. I CHEAT AND THIS HAS ONCE AGAIN BROUGHT ME BACK IN LINE. BEING A STRONG BELIEVER IN REINCARNATION, I FEEL THERE IS NO WAY OUT. WE CANNOT POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN THE ONLY "CHOSEN" ON THIS UNIVERSE. DOCTORS ADMINISTER MEDICATION TO US, KNOWING FULL WELL WE WILL TURNS INTO BLIMPS. IT IS AS IF THE DOCTORS TAKE FIENDISH DELIGHT IN ADMINISTERING SUCH MEDICATION. PLASTIC SURGERY PREVAILS WHICH IN TURN CAUSES TOXIC POISONING AND DYSTHESIA. MEDIA WATCH IS NOT STRONG. THE LAW OF NATURE PLUS THE LAW OF RETRIBUTION EXIST.

Recycle ourselves, eh?? Anyone out there remember Soylent Green?? The movie? Let's do that instead of killing animals!!

Not sure if I can watch the movie....I have day and nightmares just from what I have seen already. And my anger almost overrides my reason at times, so I have to decide....

Even if I don't, I still love you, ALF, too! And someday, maybe I can force myself to watch...but I understand.

I watched this just yesterday..It is the single most effective film out there, that tells the truth of what is happening to so many innocent animals on a daily basis. Please friends, try to watch this, because it will put a fire under you, like you have never felt before. You will forever be compelled to fight this fight, today, tomorrow and always!! As heart wrenching as it is, it is the reality, and the fate of every creature, used for food, clothing, entertainment and bogus scientific experiments!! We must use this to educate others, so as to hopefully, bring about change, and something far better for our fellow "Earthlings" ..the animals!! If not for any other reason, do it for them. For their lives have been sacrificed, compromised, and disregarded for much, much too long now. They deserve better..If we do not tell their story..then who will??? We are their only hope..Let us, the ones who truly do care, go forth and make known, every single disgusting deed done to them,,as they are unable to do so for themselves!! ThankYou all for caring!!!
Thanks ALF..for having the courage and compasion to give this film another push!!!

i watched part of this video. i don't know if i can fathom looking at the rest of it.... (after i emotionally digested what i have just seen, 45 minutes worth). this video, is compelling...moving and indeed, very powerful with its well documented message. kudos to the folks who filmed this...and alf...bless you for bringing this to the care2 table. unbelivable photos, music and a most profound message for all. i recommend all to watch it, if just a little...what a film!!

"...beautiful.... music by Moby is deeply moving..." ???

I watched the video - the first time only 15 minutes - I couldn't more
the secon time more than 1 hour but I could'n more
and the next hours after watching I couldn't move I wanted to die because I didn't want to think about it all any more
add to this the video about stonning the Kurdish girl
and it's enough to get to conclussion that people should not exist

I must comment, due to friends comments above. I will cross-post to others. I will not watch the video because I'm too, emotional. However, I read alot about these things and imagine the actual visualization. I'm not a meat eater for 35 years, now. I sign petitions and fight against human abuse. Forgive me for not watching, I must remain strong and keep my emotions in tact in order to keep a head of my agenda. I appreciate all of you on Care2, and I do the best I can. I know the truth of our inhumanity and just the knowledge without watching, sickens me, beyond comprehension !

I watched what I could but only got to the kosher part I had to turn it off after that. I almost cried but I did not want to alarm my children so I held it back and turned it off. I will never again eat or drink anything that comes from an animal. Thank you so much Alf for opening my eyes to the cruelty.

Hi Joanna, this film DID show us some beautiful images & footage, of animals in their natural habitats, wild & free. The score to this film was written by the music artist "Moby" who, in my opinion is not only talented, but is a great friend and activist for PETA & all animals !! I know that most of it is heart breaking and painful, but the contrast, and how amazingly beautiful animals and nature are, when left alone is an inspiring vision. It is one we must never give up on. I hope I didn't sound like I was sugar coating the tragic issues of this film..I was simply trying to sustain our every hope that one day ALL Earthlings, will coexist, in harmony, the way I truly believe we were meant to.
Bravo to you for watching, and choosing to know the truth my friend!! Peace!

I will not watch it, because I don't have to believe. You are all singing to the choir here. The people who need to see this will never watch it not because it would make them cry but because they don't care. They laugh at people like us who cry over animals instead of people. Well, I happen to be a person who cries over both, and right now I'm sickened over the state of the world. People that do horrible things in such a beautiful world. You can show all the ugliness in the world and the people who do these things will not stop doing them - don't you get it - this doesn't bother them because they do not care like you and I and all of us. They are not sensitive, caring, loving in re: to animals. They think/feel differently about animals and nothing we do or say changes this. That is the sad part. So us seeing this and crying only hurts people who already cry daily over the state of the world, instead of reaching the people who don't care, never have, and won't despite our efforts to reach them with films, movies, and pictures of their own cruelty. Why do they care? We can only hope to reach the people out there too busy watching American Idol or Survivor or whatever to pay any attemtion to what is happening in this country much less what was happening in the world, much less what is happening to animals they end up eating. Those are the people who need to see this to wake up to the truth of how they get the food on their tables....Noted.

Well, retaliation falls on woman in 100Mile House, British Columbia. The owners girlfriend was taking care of the Siberian cats, while he was away. The male cat did not leave the cage and she did not enter it, but somehow she was killed. So it comes to our own doorstep. I did not even know there were Big Cats out there, did know they were in the Greater Vancouver Zoo. As to the video, it is sickening, heartbreaking, the treatment of the so-called dumb animals, cries in the face of that fallacy. To slaughter animals in the inhumane way that is even wrongly done in the "kosher" way, even that has been fractured. Mankind should be ashamed.

May all animals including the weak amongst us suffer less sooner rather than later. Humans have nothing whatsoever to do with humanity the words have NO similarity or cognition to each other. May those who perpetrate heinous acts today suffer their actions tenfold tomorrow. I have seen this video before and could not possibly watch it again. Once is enough to arm me with knowledge and destroy me with the evil and the graphic depiction contained within. I wish for a world free from pain and suffering for ALL beings no matter how small or how strange. WE are just one species here,NOT god.Our purpose is no greater than the maggot,in fact we are more destructive than the worst cancers. If any other species perpetrated half of what we have done here we would have shot or poisoned it into extinction by now.Kindness, peace and humanity for all beings.

And now we need a video about men picking the dead soldiers off the ground, putting them in body bags and sending their home to their proud parents, where they are embalmed and boxed or burned. Never mind about the thousands who go home without legs and arms. BTW, What do you think about male circumcision on little babies? The world is filled with needless suffering...all because of mindlessness. But what the hell, we're ALL a bunch of animals. Enjoy your steak and chicken & dumplings...try not to think about the tortured screams.

Vegetarian, 2 years September 16. It took less than this video to slam my heart and open my eyes! I guess my next step will be Vegan.

LOL Earth Angels

Thank you Alf for finding this video and to the people that made the Video. I made it to 26.37 minutes on and off. This film and all the daily tortures in the Care 2 Newsletter is physically nauseating because I feel so helpless to stop it. There isn't a minute that goes by without my intending that we find the means to dissolve this behaviour. Petitioning is just not effective enough. Case by case is not good enough. A few sorry laws that can be rescinded is not good enough. Begging people to have a heart or get educated is disgusting because many don't have a heart or a brain. I am willing to bet none of my animal-loving friends will watch this video. Your right MamaBear Claw, were this video to be viewed on TV, only the people who get orgasmic pleasure from the torture of living beings would watch it. Geez, we have to find more novel ways to open up frozen "Duh" minds. If people would stop giving money to these thoughtforms, then at least some of the torture will stop which would give us time to consider what to do with the rest of the toxic waste.

I have watched the whole of this film - it was incredibly painful to watch & left me feeling very angry and in tears. This should be shown on mainstream TV and in schools - people need to know the TRUTH. Action is also in how we as consumers dictate what we want, and not be fooled by seductive advertising into what the food and clothing corporations want us to think, that this is what we want. People have the power to change things - I petitioned and protested years ago for the end to live animal exports from the docks in my hometown. And after years of peaceful and constant protest, we succeeded. EVERYONE MUST KEEP UP THE PRESSURE, IN PARTICULARLY THOSE MEAT-EATERS WHO BUY FROM MCDONALD'S AND KFC - these two companies commit the most horrendous animal murder - BOYCOTT THEM!!

Hey Alf....I have always been an animal activist, but after viewing this video (and like many, could not watch it all), it brought out all my emotions on this subject.....pain, hurt, anguish, disgust, anger, yes, even some hatred, which is too strong an emotion for me to comprehend. Well done and thank you for sharing the truth....I will do the same!!

While I agree completely that what is shown on this video is cruel and wrong, these practices are not representative of what happens on real family farms. I grew up on a small dairy farm in southern Minnesota and I have family who operate a dairy farm. My sister's dairy operation does not use antibiotics or hormones on their cows. My sister says that the hormones are "too hard on the cows" so won't use them. Cows do live for a long time when treated well--I know because we named all of ours and knew their personalities in order to safely milk them. Also, the cows are not kept in 'chains' indoors 24/7 as depicted in the video. Rather, on family dairy farms they are kept in fields next to an open air shed for shelter when needed. The video depicted an older style milking setup like the one my family operated 30 years ago. Except that the cows were only kept indoors when the temperature outside was too cold (thanks to climate change, we probably would have had them outdoors more now!). While there are likely dairy operations which do the things described in this video, the family farms that I know don't. Rather, huge corporate farms are often the worst perpetrators of these practices. Overall, my message is: 1) family farmers treat their animals humanely and 2) buy milk that has no hormones added so that you don't support the dairy operations that use these practices. If anyone has any information that contradicts what I've written please contact me through Care2. Thanks.

Soylent Green is a movie set in a "future" of overpopulation. SG is the name of a huge corporation that supplies food to this huge population. There seems to be no space for agriculture, etc. Charlton Heston is curious as to what this "food" being supplied really IS. To give away the twisty plot, at the very end of the movie he finds out. Soylent Green, the name of the food "product" as well as the company, is "recycled" HUMAN CORPSES.
That is my best memory of the film, which I saw a long time ago.
Family farms and Factory farms are MILES apart in their ethics. I have just been reading, that Factory farms and huge monoculture plantations, are NOT actually "more efficient" than diversity in agriculture! Leaving ethics and compassion aside, even, {which we shouldn't}, the "economic necessity to feed all of Earth's population that way" argument, FALLS FLAT. This makes CHANGE both imperative, and very possible; once people UNDERSTAND and don't fall for the propaganda!
We have work to do. We are actually REACHING people, every day. It is slow, way too slow, but.......

i just watched that movie a few hours ago on a witchside from germany, then i asked one of my friends from care2 to send it please to everybody on care2, because i couldn't load it down, its just for windows and mac and i asked one host of one of my groups to watch it and send it to everybody she knows and she just send me a message that there are 3 parts of that movie. so one good advice for all the loving and caring animal lovers: take a aventurinstone in your right hand and a moonstone in your left hand, before you watch it, they help me to keep calm, which was very difficult to stay, when i watched the film.

Unlike some countries, animals in India are often butchered in plain view of everyone. When something happens behind closed doors, it is easy to gloss over it. Most Germans never knew what went on in the concentration camps. That doesn't change the fact that all those things did happen.

I have seen many of these scenes with my own eyes and can testify to their commonness.

Thank you, Alf, for sharing this! Thank you for showing the ground realities to people who have not been privileged (yes, privileged) to see them. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I watched it all and I kept thinking that every human being is guilty of complicity. We only differ by matter of degree. If you watched this video on a computer you have supported people's and countries that perpetrate these atrocities toward other species.

No human being should walk away from this and feel they are without a part in this no matter how small. We treat each other without compassion and love and in doing so we perpetuate hatred, indifference, ignorance, mercilessness and heartlessness toward all species.

Most of the farms today are owned by big corporations. Big corporations are taking over the small ones. Due to the high demand of those products, and that is where the video comes into affect. The video is for people supporting cruelty and by that I mean maybe not realizing what they are buying is causing suffering. Jennie C said, “The people who need to see this will never watch it not because it would make them cry but because they don't care.” Most of those could be the people committing the crime (such as hunters, butchers, etc) they obviously don’t care about the suffering of others. However, they will care when their “products” don’t sell. No sales- no money- no products- no suffering. Not that this would take affect tomorrow b/c is not realistic, but with more effort and awareness it can happen in the future. I hope… for the sake of us!

For those people who can’t watch a couple of minutes of the video, just thing about the animals in that situation……they didn’t ask to be there, but they are living it everyday.

I watched this video from beginning to end. Hard to watch, but it has opened my eyes even more to the unncessary suffering of all animals. It amazes me that some humans can be so callous and uncaring. I wanted to do something positive, so I will. I will definitely think twice before eating, wearing or dealing with any animals in my life. Thanks Alf.

Alf, You may not intend to live for centuries but what you are promoting will , trying to change the mindset of vilonce with vilonce People who show no respect for animals or other humans and the peoplle who must watch or "I have to close my eyes I can't bear to finish " or no closer to respecting LIFE ANIMAL OR HUMAN (all they are learning is to but others down ,anger etc.) Where is the idea that learning thru peace, respect , compassition etc come into play must we wait 2 more centuries to teach and learn that peace and respect is maybe a better way to learn ? For all these people who promote peace ,respect, whom say that it is something that we want but turn around and do not practice these things I find it alittle disturbing. I DID NOT WATCH THIS VIDEO because I could not stomach it or for any other reason. ISAY THE CHANCE FOR PEACE AND RESPECT STARTS HERE I do not wish to see vilonce on a animal or aother person . :)

Sorry, I saw a few minuets of this film and had to stop. I could not carry on. It really upset me. I know there are vigilanties out there who would advocate violence to the purportraters, but behaving the way these people do makes us no better. So, locking this people up for life is fine for me. Wow, it seems to me that some of you are under the impression that animals in your country are better off because you have better 'standards'. Let me tell you, it is not so! If you're so proud of the standards in your country, and if you're so proud of your people and your culture, visit a slaughterhouse and get deflated!

I have seen animals get slaughtered. There is no difference in the panic and pain they feel and that which ... captives of terrorists feel when they are about to be beheaded. No matter how 'humane' conditions you create, they KNOW they are going to die. Go and see for yourself! The desire to live, the fear of death and the sharp pain of the knife blade is something we share with all life - fish, birds, "higher animals". Some of you denounce dog-eating and have chicken for dinner! This is HYPOCRISY! And if you think that a mechanized slaughter house in USA is more HUMANE than a crude one in Afghanistan, you are DELUDED!

Some have stated that the people who should watch this film wont, because they simply dont care. We are not trying to get "those" people on board..we are trying to get those who do love animals, but are unaware of these atrocities.I have cherished all animals since I was a very young girl, and up until a few years ago, I had NO idea that such heinous things were going on, in the name of food, clothing, research, etc. The day I changed my life style, was the day I learned, and saw the truth. This is an effort to reach people who care for our animals, but have not yet been shown the truth of their deep, and complete suffering!!!

If just one person watches this who might be on the fence about certain animal issues and factory farming in particular and makes a choice to stop eating animals, that is one more compassionate person in the world. It does have a ripple effect and we cannot be despairing despite all the inhumanity, greed and cruelty perpetrated to the defenseless in our society. One person can make a change! Thanks for posting Alf!

I feel llike I have seen too much already. It's hard not to let this stuff get to you. It makes a point, a very good point I am sure. I cannot watch one more video on how humans are destroying our earth. I am so glad I am choosing not to have kids. What kind of life would they have 20, 30 or even 40 years from now? I shutter to think where our world will be like then. God help us all! ps I did note your story Alf, thanks for making people more aware of the maddness around us!

I heard about this documentary a few months ago, and I bought the dvd through the PETA website. I think it is one of the most important films I have ever watched. Moby did a great job with the music, and Joaquin Phoenix, the narrator, also did a great job. I would have never been able to narrate a movie like this.

I have been surprised at the reactions of some people and it seems to be the ones who can't actually watch it and therefore do not get the message that the film is trying to give us. If you cannot watch the film, fair enough but don't critisize what you havn't watched. It is not just a load of clips about cruelty. Thanx for the support and noting it everyone. Animal exploitation must end before it ends us!!

Alf is 100 % correct. I'm sorry, but I need to say, having seen this film in its entirety, that it is indeed a "tool" of sorts. Not only does it show us the reality, and the devastating crimes committed against our fellow "Earthlings"..it also provides an underlying message, and a moral to this tragic story. It is not just a film, created solely on the basis of SHOCK VALUE.. The details of it are brutal, but are in no way ,shape or form,an illusion. The people who find themselves on the fence, purchase their food, and clothing, all neat and tidy, prepackaged, without any evidence of the torture and brutality it took to get it that way..The marketing of these items, is the "real illusion", and those who are oblivious to the truth, have a right to be educated!! Allowing people access to this film, is not promoting more violence, in an already violent world, it is offering them the cold hard facts and the right to make a choice one way or another. Would it be fair if all we saw of the war, were perfectly packaged , and sugar coated images, designed to make us think that there is no suffering taking place over there??
The media freely reports any and all casualties, so that we can make "informed" decisions. The principle is the same where the movie "Earthlings" is concerned. Ignorance, in this case isn't bliss, however knowledge..is power!!

I must tell you Mary J, I will NOT listen to your bullshit! You're a Dairy Farmer for fuck's sake, so obviously you don't give a shit about animals!!!? Anyone that thinks dairy farming is 'humane' needs their brain testing, the cows have to be made artificially pregnant (constantly) to give milk, the calves don't have a particularly great time either.... if they're female, back in the dairy industry for them, if they are male they are turned into veal after being taken away from mum after just a few days! Humane - I don't think so!!!!

Also, how come you're happy to drink blood and pus?! Isn't animals milk supposed to be for baby animals?

MamaBear...please know that I speak out in support of this film, because I "do not" approve of the violence and brutality humans have exacted upon our fellow "earthlings". I desperately want it to end. It was so very hard for me to get through the film, but afterward.. I felt better informed, so as to do all I can to educate others. The seriousness of this.. is an "apathetic epidemic"..which may be largely related to ignorance. Many people,in their busy day to day lives,do not stop to consider that some innocent "being", had to suffer extensively, in the name of food & clothing. I can only speak about my own personal experience, and what it took to change the way I lived my life. Seeing certain footage, ignited the passion in me,and I found a strength I never knew existed. My videos are tame, I agree. The images I use are simply milder versions, of issues discussed in the movie. I am sorry if you believe me to be a supporter of violence.I truly am not, neither is ALF, or any other person who feels that the realities of "Earthlings" should be shared with those who choose to better understand the process of harvesting animals for food & clothing.Tenacity, combined with passion, and compassion, will eventually lead us to victory. This is my hope, for our future, for our planet and for our beloved animals,
I appreciate you sharing your thoughts & feelings my friend.
Peace 2 U always!!!

I didn't make the film and if I could spread the word without showing any poor animal suffering believe me I would but people don't take any notice. Its time to wake up the sleeping millions. I and many others were turned to animal rights by being confronted with a shocking image or a video. I was a big meat-eater and one day I saw a film called 'The Animals' depicting slaughter etc. I stopped eating meat from that moment and have never turned back. Once I had made the journey I no longer want to see the suffering but in order to get the word out I must as I wouldn't pass anything on that was false or badly done.
Most people do not know what is going on around them and for them and will not listen to words. They do however believe their eyes. The more people that have their eyes opened the more people will see and make the connections.

Many animals died and suffered in the making of this film. They could not speak for themselves but these pictures speak for them. If they could speak they would SHOUT! LOOK AT ME! LOOK WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO ME! This film and others does it for them.

Hell, I'm an advocate of violence.... It is my fondest wish to get my hands on some of the people that do these things!!! LOL I, personally, have no problem with violence....so long as it is directed at PEOPLE and not animals. Well, okay, let me amend that just a touch....I don't advocate it against children or women (so long as the women are not doing this kind of crap, in which case, they are then fair game!).

No offense against the good men on here, either. But I have no problem with violence provided it is directed towards those harming innocents.

There is just too much evidence, talk and printed material abounding with what is happening. Most if not all of us are scared silly to one degree or another.

There are many things we should not show small children. I would agree that "Earthlings" is too graphic for the eyes & minds of "the wee ones",however..the subject matter should be "discussed" & "explained" to all of our children. My youngest is 7 and I talk to him often about the work I do on behalf of the animals, and why I do not eat meat,or wear leather, wool or fur! He gets a great deal of it all. There are always questions he has for me..and I know he's already on his way to humanity & a deep respect for all animals. They are never too young to learn, that mistreating any creature is wrong, or about what they can one day do to help these beings, and free them from lives of torture, pain and suffering. We wouldn't show a 6 year old graphic images, or films about the Holocaust, but we would certainly try to teach them that racism, dictatorship, and hatred are wrong..very wrong! So as I watched Earthlings, my youngest came in to the room and of course I stopped the movie. He asked why he couldn't watch, and though I could not "SHOW" him, I absolutely could "TELL" him, and I did.Since my husband is NOT a veg head, it is sometimes unavoidable that 3 of my 6 children consume meat. My 2 daughters, 15 & 19, have seen PETA's "Meet you Meat" a while ago, and are now vegetarians too. My 13 year old son has been a vegan his entire life ,due to a genetic disorder which affects his ability to metabolize protein.I recently heard him say how very happy & lucky he felt, because he has never eaten an animal. So you see, we can & should teach our children what we know, right from the start..How they choose to live as young adults and onward, will ultimately be their own decision..though the chances of them siding with the animals..will be drastically improved, if given the truth at an early age!
