I have not watched yet, though I really appreciate it, Alf, that you are bringing this to our attention. Some day I will dare to watch this. Truth needs to be seen, I totally agree, humans should not watch away any longer, we all must know what we have done and still have been doing to the animals and to the planet. We should stop to "destroy", nature and other living beings than humans can fight back, I'm conscious of this.

I, unfortunately, could not watch through to the end either. Shocking? Only when vividly presented. But deep down we KNOW the truth. It's time we face the things we do openly and honestly. We need to change.
Thank you, Alf.

SHAKESPEARE: "EVEN AN ANT FEELS THE SAME PAIN AS A KING." I TOOK THE TIME TO WATCH THE VIDEO ALL THE WAY THROUGH. EXTREMELY WELL-DOCUMENTED AND COULD POSSIBLY START ANOTHER WAR. GOYAS AGAINST . . . OBVIOUSLY, OUR TIME HAS COME WE MAY POSSIBLY LIVE TO SEE THE DAYS OF WHERE THERE IS NOT FOOD FIT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION, WHERE CANNIBALISM WILL PREVAIL. ACTUALLY IT HAS ALREADY BEEN SUGGESTED BY A CHRISTIAN VEGETARIAN ORGANIZATION, THAT UPON OUR DEMISE WE OURSELVES SHOULD BE RECYCLED. WILLY PICTON SENT HUMAN REMAINS TO THE RENDERING PLANT. WE ARE FEW IN NUMBERS ON CARE2.CON IN THIS BATTLE. I CHEAT AND THIS HAS ONCE AGAIN BROUGHT ME BACK IN LINE. BEING A STRONG BELIEVER IN REINCARNATION, I FEEL THERE IS NO WAY OUT. WE CANNOT POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN THE ONLY "CHOSEN" ON THIS UNIVERSE. DOCTORS ADMINISTER MEDICATION TO US, KNOWING FULL WELL WE WILL TURNS INTO BLIMPS. IT IS AS IF THE DOCTORS TAKE FIENDISH DELIGHT IN ADMINISTERING SUCH MEDICATION. PLASTIC SURGERY PREVAILS WHICH IN TURN CAUSES TOXIC POISONING AND DYSTHESIA. MEDIA WATCH IS NOT STRONG. THE LAW OF NATURE PLUS THE LAW OF RETRIBUTION EXIST.

Recycle ourselves, eh?? Anyone out there remember Soylent Green?? The movie? Let's do that instead of killing animals!!

Not sure if I can watch the movie....I have day and nightmares just from what I have seen already. And my anger almost overrides my reason at times, so I have to decide....

Even if I don't, I still love you, ALF, too! And someday, maybe I can force myself to watch...but I understand.

I watched this just yesterday..It is the single most effective film out there, that tells the truth of what is happening to so many innocent animals on a daily basis. Please friends, try to watch this, because it will put a fire under you, like you have never felt before. You will forever be compelled to fight this fight, today, tomorrow and always!! As heart wrenching as it is, it is the reality, and the fate of every creature, used for food, clothing, entertainment and bogus scientific experiments!! We must use this to educate others, so as to hopefully, bring about change, and something far better for our fellow "Earthlings" ..the animals!! If not for any other reason, do it for them. For their lives have been sacrificed, compromised, and disregarded for much, much too long now. They deserve better..If we do not tell their story..then who will??? We are their only hope..Let us, the ones who truly do care, go forth and make known, every single disgusting deed done to them,,as they are unable to do so for themselves!! ThankYou all for caring!!!
Thanks ALF..for having the courage and compasion to give this film another push!!!

i watched part of this video. i don't know if i can fathom looking at the rest of it.... (after i emotionally digested what i have just seen, 45 minutes worth). this video, is compelling...moving and indeed, very powerful with its well documented message. kudos to the folks who filmed this...and alf...bless you for bringing this to the care2 table. unbelivable photos, music and a most profound message for all. i recommend all to watch it, if just a little...what a film!!

"...beautiful.... music by Moby is deeply moving..." ???

I watched the video - the first time only 15 minutes - I couldn't more
the secon time more than 1 hour but I could'n more
and the next hours after watching I couldn't move I wanted to die because I didn't want to think about it all any more
add to this the video about stonning the Kurdish girl
and it's enough to get to conclussion that people should not exist

I must comment, due to friends comments above. I will cross-post to others. I will not watch the video because I'm too, emotional. However, I read alot about these things and imagine the actual visualization. I'm not a meat eater for 35 years, now. I sign petitions and fight against human abuse. Forgive me for not watching, I must remain strong and keep my emotions in tact in order to keep a head of my agenda. I appreciate all of you on Care2, and I do the best I can. I know the truth of our inhumanity and just the knowledge without watching, sickens me, beyond comprehension !

I watched what I could but only got to the kosher part I had to turn it off after that. I almost cried but I did not want to alarm my children so I held it back and turned it off. I will never again eat or drink anything that comes from an animal. Thank you so much Alf for opening my eyes to the cruelty.

Hi Joanna, this film DID show us some beautiful images & footage, of animals in their natural habitats, wild & free. The score to this film was written by the music artist "Moby" who, in my opinion is not only talented, but is a great friend and activist for PETA & all animals !! I know that most of it is heart breaking and painful, but the contrast, and how amazingly beautiful animals and nature are, when left alone is an inspiring vision. It is one we must never give up on. I hope I didn't sound like I was sugar coating the tragic issues of this film..I was simply trying to sustain our every hope that one day ALL Earthlings, will coexist, in harmony, the way I truly believe we were meant to.
Bravo to you for watching, and choosing to know the truth my friend!! Peace!

I will not watch it, because I don't have to believe. You are all singing to the choir here. The people who need to see this will never watch it not because it would make them cry but because they don't care. They laugh at people like us who cry over animals instead of people. Well, I happen to be a person who cries over both, and right now I'm sickened over the state of the world. People that do horrible things in such a beautiful world. You can show all the ugliness in the world and the people who do these things will not stop doing them - don't you get it - this doesn't bother them because they do not care like you and I and all of us. They are not sensitive, caring, loving in re: to animals. They think/feel differently about animals and nothing we do or say changes this. That is the sad part. So us seeing this and crying only hurts people who already cry daily over the state of the world, instead of reaching the people who don't care, never have, and won't despite our efforts to reach them with films, movies, and pictures of their own cruelty. Why do they care? We can only hope to reach the people out there too busy watching American Idol or Survivor or whatever to pay any attemtion to what is happening in this country much less what was happening in the world, much less what is happening to animals they end up eating. Those are the people who need to see this to wake up to the truth of how they get the food on their tables....Noted.

Well, retaliation falls on woman in 100Mile House, British Columbia. The owners girlfriend was taking care of the Siberian cats, while he was away. The male cat did not leave the cage and she did not enter it, but somehow she was killed. So it comes to our own doorstep. I did not even know there were Big Cats out there, did know they were in the Greater Vancouver Zoo. As to the video, it is sickening, heartbreaking, the treatment of the so-called dumb animals, cries in the face of that fallacy. To slaughter animals in the inhumane way that is even wrongly done in the "kosher" way, even that has been fractured. Mankind should be ashamed.

May all animals including the weak amongst us suffer less sooner rather than later. Humans have nothing whatsoever to do with humanity the words have NO similarity or cognition to each other. May those who perpetrate heinous acts today suffer their actions tenfold tomorrow. I have seen this video before and could not possibly watch it again. Once is enough to arm me with knowledge and destroy me with the evil and the graphic depiction contained within. I wish for a world free from pain and suffering for ALL beings no matter how small or how strange. WE are just one species here,NOT god.Our purpose is no greater than the maggot,in fact we are more destructive than the worst cancers. If any other species perpetrated half of what we have done here we would have shot or poisoned it into extinction by now.Kindness, peace and humanity for all beings.

And now we need a video about men picking the dead soldiers off the ground, putting them in body bags and sending their home to their proud parents, where they are embalmed and boxed or burned. Never mind about the thousands who go home without legs and arms. BTW, What do you think about male circumcision on little babies? The world is filled with needless suffering...all because of mindlessness. But what the hell, we're ALL a bunch of animals. Enjoy your steak and chicken & dumplings...try not to think about the tortured screams.

Vegetarian, 2 years September 16. It took less than this video to slam my heart and open my eyes! I guess my next step will be Vegan.

LOL Earth Angels

Thank you Alf for finding this video and to the people that made the Video. I made it to 26.37 minutes on and off. This film and all the daily tortures in the Care 2 Newsletter is physically nauseating because I feel so helpless to stop it. There isn't a minute that goes by without my intending that we find the means to dissolve this behaviour. Petitioning is just not effective enough. Case by case is not good enough. A few sorry laws that can be rescinded is not good enough. Begging people to have a heart or get educated is disgusting because many don't have a heart or a brain. I am willing to bet none of my animal-loving friends will watch this video. Your right MamaBear Claw, were this video to be viewed on TV, only the people who get orgasmic pleasure from the torture of living beings would watch it. Geez, we have to find more novel ways to open up frozen "Duh" minds. If people would stop giving money to these thoughtforms, then at least some of the torture will stop which would give us time to consider what to do with the rest of the toxic waste.

I have watched the whole of this film - it was incredibly painful to watch & left me feeling very angry and in tears. This should be shown on mainstream TV and in schools - people need to know the TRUTH. Action is also in how we as consumers dictate what we want, and not be fooled by seductive advertising into what the food and clothing corporations want us to think, that this is what we want. People have the power to change things - I petitioned and protested years ago for the end to live animal exports from the docks in my hometown. And after years of peaceful and constant protest, we succeeded. EVERYONE MUST KEEP UP THE PRESSURE, IN PARTICULARLY THOSE MEAT-EATERS WHO BUY FROM MCDONALD'S AND KFC - these two companies commit the most horrendous animal murder - BOYCOTT THEM!!

Hey Alf....I have always been an animal activist, but after viewing this video (and like many, could not watch it all), it brought out all my emotions on this subject.....pain, hurt, anguish, disgust, anger, yes, even some hatred, which is too strong an emotion for me to comprehend. I am still in tears as I write this comment and hug my cats.
Well done and thank you for sharing the truth....I will do the same!!

While I agree completely that what is shown on this video is cruel and wrong, these practices are not representative of what happens on real family farms. I grew up on a small dairy farm in southern Minnesota and I have family who operate a dairy farm. My sister's dairy operation does not use antibiotics or hormones on their cows. My sister says that the hormones are "too hard on the cows" so won't use them. Cows do live for a long time when treated well--I know because we named all of ours and knew their personalities in order to safely milk them. Also, the cows are not kept in 'chains' indoors 24/7 as depicted in the video. Rather, on family dairy farms they are kept in fields next to an open air shed for shelter when needed. The video depicted an older style milking setup like the one my family operated 30 years ago. Except that the cows were only kept indoors when the temperature outside was too cold (thanks to climate change, we probably would have had them outdoors more now!). While there are likely dairy operations which do the things described in this video, the family farms that I know don't. Rather, huge corporate farms are often the worst perpetrators of these practices. Overall, my message is: 1) family farmers treat their animals humanely and 2) buy milk that has no hormones added so that you don't support the dairy operations that use these practices. If anyone has any information that contradicts what I've written please contact me through Care2. Thanks.

Soylent Green is a movie set in a "future" of overpopulation. SG is the name of a huge corporation that supplies food to this huge population. There seems to be no space for agriculture, etc. Charlton Heston is curious as to what this "food" being supplied really IS. To give away the twisty plot, at the very end of the movie he finds out. Soylent Green, the name of the food "product" as well as the company, is "recycled" HUMAN CORPSES.
That is my best memory of the film, which I saw a long time ago.
Family farms and Factory farms are MILES apart in their ethics. I have just been reading, that Factory farms and huge monoculture plantations, are NOT actually "more efficient" than diversity in agriculture! Leaving ethics and compassion aside, even, {which we shouldn't}, the "economic necessity to feed all of Earth's population that way" argument, FALLS FLAT. This makes CHANGE both imperative, and very possible; once people UNDERSTAND and don't fall for the propaganda!
We have work to do. We are actually REACHING people, every day. It is slow, way too slow, but.......

i just watched that movie a few hours ago on a witchside from germany, then i asked one of my friends from care2 to send it please to everybody on care2, because i couldn't load it down, its just for windows and mac and i asked one host of one of my groups to watch it and send it to everybody she knows and she just send me a message that there are 3 parts of that movie. so one good advice for all the loving and caring animal lovers: take a aventurinstone in your right hand and a moonstone in your left hand, before you watch it, they help me to keep calm, which was very difficult to stay, when i watched the film.

Unlike some countries, animals in India are often butchered in plain view of everyone. When something happens behind closed doors, it is easy to gloss over it. Most Germans never knew what went on in the concentration camps. That doesn't change the fact that all those things did happen.

I have seen many of these scenes with my own eyes and can testify to their commonness.

Thank you, Alf, for sharing this! Thank you for showing the ground realities to people who have not been privileged (yes, privileged) to see them. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I watched it all and I kept thinking that every human being is guilty of complicity. We only differ by matter of degree. If you watched this video on a computer you have supported people's and countries that perpetrate these atrocities toward other species.

No human being should walk away from this and feel they are without a part in this no matter how small. We treat each other without compassion and love and in doing so we perpetuate hatred, indifference, ignorance, mercilessness and heartlessness toward all species.

As a species human beings are a blight on this earth.

Most of the farms today are owned by big corporations. Big corporations are taking over the small ones. Due to the high demand of those products, and that is where the video comes into affect. The video is for people supporting cruelty and by that I mean maybe not realizing what they are buying is causing suffering. Jennie C said, “The people who need to see this will never watch it not because it would make them cry but because they don't care.” Most of those could be the people committing the crime (such as hunters, butchers, etc) they obviously don’t care about the suffering of others. However, they will care when their “products” don’t sell. No sales- no money- no products- no suffering. Not that this would take affect tomorrow b/c is not realistic, but with more effort and awareness it can happen in the future. I hope… for the sake of us!

For those people who can’t watch a couple of minutes of the video, just thing about the animals in that situation……they didn’t ask to be there, but they are living it everyday.

I watched this video from beginning to end. Hard to watch, but it has opened my eyes even more to the unncessary suffering of all animals. It amazes me that some humans can be so callous and uncaring. I wanted to do something positive, so I will. I will definitely think twice before eating, wearing or dealing with any animals in my life. Thanks Alf.

Alf, You may not intend to live for centuries but what you are promoting will , trying to change the mindset of vilonce with vilonce People who show no respect for animals or other humans and the peoplle who must watch or "I have to close my eyes I can't bear to finish " or no closer to respecting LIFE ANIMAL OR HUMAN (all they are learning is to but others down ,anger etc.) Where is the idea that learning thru peace, respect , compassition etc come into play must we wait 2 more centuries to teach and learn that peace and respect is maybe a better way to learn ? For all these people who promote peace ,respect, whom say that it is something that we want but turn around and do not practice these things I find it alittle disturbing. I DID NOT WATCH THIS VIDEO because I could not stomach it or for any other reason. ISAY THE CHANCE FOR PEACE AND RESPECT STARTS HERE I do not wish to see vilonce on a animal or aother person . :)

Sorry, I saw a few minuets of this film and had to stop. I could not carry on. It really upset me. I know there are vigilanties out there who would advocate violence to the purportraters, but behaving the way these people do makes us no better. So, locking this people up for life is fine for me. Wow, it seems to me that some of you are under the impression that animals in your country are better off because you have better 'standards'. Let me tell you, it is not so! If you're so proud of the standards in your country, and if you're so proud of your people and your culture, visit a slaughterhouse and get deflated!

I have seen animals get slaughtered. There is no difference in the panic and pain they feel and that which ... captives of terrorists feel when they are about to be beheaded. No matter how 'humane' conditions you create, they KNOW they are going to die. Go and see for yourself! The desire to live, the fear of death and the sharp pain of the knife blade is something we share with all life - fish, birds, "higher animals". Some of you denounce dog-eating and have chicken for dinner! This is HYPOCRISY! And if you think that a mechanized slaughter house in USA is more HUMANE than a crude one in Afghanistan, you are DELUDED!

Some have stated that the people who should watch this film wont, because they simply dont care. We are not trying to get "those" people on board..we are trying to get those who do love animals, but are unaware of these atrocities.I have cherished all animals since I was a very young girl, and up until a few years ago, I had NO idea that such heinous things were going on, in the name of food, clothing, research, etc. The day I changed my life style, was the day I learned, and saw the truth. This is an effort to reach people who care for our animals, but have not yet been shown the truth of their deep, and complete suffering!!!

If just one person watches this who might be on the fence about certain animal issues and factory farming in particular and makes a choice to stop eating animals, that is one more compassionate person in the world. It does have a ripple effect and we cannot be despairing despite all the inhumanity, greed and cruelty perpetrated to the defenseless in our society. One person can make a change! Thanks for posting Alf!

I cannot watch one more video on how humans are destroying our earth. I am so glad I am choosing not to have kids. What kind of life would they have 20, 30 or even 40 years from now? I shutter to think where our world will be like then. God help us all! ps I did note your story Alf, thanks for making people more aware of the maddness around us!

I heard about this documentary a few months ago, and I bought the dvd through the PETA website. I think it is one of the most important films I have ever watched. Moby did a great job with the music, and Joaquin Phoenix, the narrator, also did a great job. I would have never been able to narrate a movie like this.

If you cannot watch the film, fair enough but don't critisize what you havn't watched. It is not just a load of clips about cruelty. Thanx for the support and noting it everyone. Alf is 100 % correct. I'm sorry, but I need to say, having seen this film in its entirety, that it is indeed a "tool" of sorts. Not only does it show us the reality, and the devastating crimes committed against our fellow "Earthlings"..it also provides an underlying message, and a moral to this tragic story. It is not just a film, created solely on the basis of SHOCK VALUE.. The details of it are brutal, but are in no way ,shape or form,an illusion. The people who find themselves on the fence, purchase their food, and clothing, all neat and tidy, prepackaged, without any evidence of the torture and brutality it took to get it that way..The marketing of these items, is the "real illusion", and those who are oblivious to the truth, have a right to be educated!! Allowing people access to this film, is not promoting more violence, in an already violent world, it is offering them the cold hard facts and the right to make a choice one way or another. Would it be fair if all we saw of the war, were perfectly packaged , and sugar coated images, designed to make us think that there is no suffering taking place over there??
The media freely reports any and all casualties, so that we can make "informed" decisions. The principle is the same where the movie "Earthlings" is concerned. Ignorance, in this case isn't bliss, however knowledge..is power!!

I must tell you Mary J, I will NOT listen to your bullshit! You're a Dairy Farmer for fuck's sake, so obviously you don't give a shit about animals!!!? Anyone that thinks dairy farming is 'humane' needs their brain testing, the cows have to be made artificially pregnant (constantly) to give milk, the calves don't have a particularly great time either.... if they're female, back in the dairy industry for them, if they are male they are turned into veal after being taken away from mum after just a few days! Humane - I don't think so!!!!

MamaBear...please know that I speak out in support of this film, because I "do not" approve of the violence and brutality humans have exacted upon our fellow "earthlings". I desperately want it to end. It was so very hard for me to get through the film, but afterward.. I felt better informed, so as to do all I can to educate others. The seriousness of this.. is an "apathetic epidemic"..which may be largely related to ignorance. Many people,in their busy day to day lives,do not stop to consider that some innocent "being", had to suffer extensively, in the name of food & clothing. I can only speak about my own personal experience, and what it took to change the way I lived my life. Seeing certain footage, ignited the passion in me,and I found a strength I never knew existed. My videos are tame, I agree. The images I use are simply milder versions, of issues discussed in the movie. I am sorry if you believe me to be a supporter of violence.I truly am not, neither is ALF, or any other person who feels that the realities of "Earthlings" should be shared with those who choose to better understand the process of harvesting animals for food & clothing.Tenacity, combined with passion, and compassion, will eventually lead us to victory. This is my hope, for our future, for our planet and for our beloved animals,
I appreciate you sharing your thoughts & feelings my friend.
Peace 2 U always!!!

I didn't make the film and if I could spread the word without showing any poor animal suffering believe me I would but people don't take any notice. Its time to wake up the sleeping millions. I and many others were turned to animal rights by being confronted with a shocking image or a video. I was a big meat-eater and one day I saw a film called 'The Animals' depicting slaughter etc. I stopped eating meat from that moment and have never turned back. Once I had made the journey I no longer want to see the suffering but in order to get the word out I must as I wouldn't pass anything on that was false or badly done.
Most people do not know what is going on around them and for them and will not listen to words. They do however believe their eyes. The more people that have their eyes opened the more people will see and make the connections.

Hell, I'm an advocate of violence.... It is my fondest wish to get my hands on some of the people that do these things!!! LOL I, personally, have no problem with violence....so long as it is directed at PEOPLE and not animals. Well, okay, let me amend that just a touch....I don't advocate it against children or women (so long as the women are not doing this kind of crap, in which case, they are then fair game!).

No offense against the good men on here, either. But I have no problem with violence provided it is directed towards those harming innocents.

There are many things we should not show small children. I would agree that "Earthlings" is too graphic for the eyes & minds of "the wee ones",however..the subject matter should be "discussed" & "explained" to all of our children. My youngest is 7 and I talk to him often about the work I do on behalf of the animals, and why I do not eat meat,or wear leather, wool or fur! He gets a great deal of it all. There are always questions he has for me..and I know he's already on his way to humanity & a deep respect for all animals. They are never too young to learn, that mistreating any creature is wrong, or about what they can one day do to help these beings, and free them from lives of torture, pain and suffering. We wouldn't show a 6 year old graphic images, or films about the Holocaust, but we would certainly try to teach them that racism, dictatorship, and hatred are wrong..very wrong! So as I watched Earthlings, my youngest came in to the room and of course I stopped the movie. He asked why he couldn't watch, and though I could not "SHOW" him, I absolutely could "TELL" him, and I did.Since my husband is NOT a veg head, it is sometimes unavoidable that 3 of my 6 children consume meat. My 2 daughters, 15 & 19, have seen PETA's "Meet you Meat" a while ago, and are now vegetarians too. My 13 year old son has been a vegan his entire life ,due to a genetic disorder which affects his ability to metabolize protein.I recently heard him say how very happy & lucky he felt, because he has never eaten an animal. So you see, we can & should teach our children what we know, right from the start..How they choose to live as young adults and onward, will ultimately be their own decision..though the chances of them siding with the animals..will be drastically improved, if given the truth at an early age!

Well said Stacey, if more parents thought their children had half a brain, this world may not be so bad off. Too give an ides, how many children really believe that Eskimos live in igloos? And how many Americans believe that if they cross the border into Canada they will be in a difference time and not have any modern facilities. This same attitude is affecting the education of the children! No they really don't need to see the bolt beating the horse 4 times to finally knock it out, but they do need to know that all that nice food and those nice leather jackets, or bunny fur lined jackets Etc. do come with the price of a life. At Christmas the puppy they want will be a big dog by summer. At easter the little chicks that are different colors were dunked into hot water and vegetable coloring. The wee bunnies are also going to grow up and within 6 months will be having their own babies if they are not spayed or neutered. We can sit here and preach to the choir until the cows come home and life will just go on. My special saying goes like this: Teach your children well, as so you sow so shall you reap.

Thank You Lamargo. You are so right about teaching our children, not just about the obvious crimes committed against our animal friends, but about being a responsible pet owner. I have 3 bunnies, that I rescued from a local pet store. These 3 were purchased as babies, at Easter time, and promptly returned as soon as the novelty wore off. Because they weren't able to be resold as pets, due to the fact that, they simply grew up, they were put out in the back and scheduled to be sold as..Snake food.
This is the sad reality facing so many pets that are purchased on a whim, or for Holidays. I saved those 3 buns. But there will continue to be more "Drop Offs", and it saddens me that I can not possibly save them all. Education is critical. The fate of unwanted pets was shown in "Earthlings"..We must teach our children that having an animal companion is a huge life long commitment.

Rebecca I totally agree with you.... the human animal is responsible for the destruction of this planet & the innocent animals that live here! The humans seem to think they are ABOVE all creatures for some weird egotistical reason. Personally I can't bear the vast majority of people & I wouldn't think twice about violence against a human to save animals... eg. a vile vivisector!!!!

Yes Stacey M, it is really sad about the unwanted 'pets'... personally if I had the power I would ban pet shops, like there aren't enough animals that need rescuing anyway!
I hate the term 'pet', PET = SLAVE - companion animal is the term I use, they are an equal member of the family!

Yes Panda, I stand corrected.."Companion animals, and family members, is the appropriate terminology. I dispise "pet stores" too, as I do, zoos, marine parks, circuses. etc. Captivity sucks and kills!!! If you've seen my page, you know exactly how I feel about animal exploitation. Your passion for our furry and not so furry friends, is raw and open. I appreciate this, as I too have felt some serious resentment toward this race of ours. To have seen "Earthlings" is having witnessed pure and utter evil. Certain parts hit me hard. To watch the slaughter house employees, continue to curse out, kick, hit, and beat a pig, that is on its way to a torturous death as it is, was beyond cruelty or abuse. The lack of compassion for an already dying animal, only confirms what I've known all along..We are a plague, on this once beautiful planet, and we will continue to spread til, we succeed in exterminating our own kind. In the end, it is my ernest hope, that the animals will survive..and thrive, in a world finally free of pain & suffering! They, of all living beings..have earned, and deserve a happy ending!! Mamabear..as the song goes.."teach your children well"..because if "we" do not, they will learn from another...and quite possibly from one who mirrors, the Monsters in the film.May complacency never take us over. Refuse to be silent,..Always!!!

So Mamabearclaw would have exposure of cruelty censored now? There is enough censorship of animal cruelty in this world, that is how it is allowed to carry on.
There is a warning on the headline about the content of the film so people who are sensitive are forwarned. There are also no children on care2. Your argument is totally invalid and pointless and I take back what I said to you in private as now you have shown your true 'claws'.

Mamabearclaw.....people need to be shown the violence because OTHERWISE, THEY TURN A BLIND EYE AND CLAIM IGNORANCE!! Just like the German people did in WWII, they can say, "Gee, I did not know". However, with video documented PROOF, people no longer have that excuse. The Allies forced the German people to go through the concentration camps, forced them to see the dead bodies, the ovens, the experiment rooms. Why? So they could no longer be in denial because of their ignorance. And let me tell you, I was in Germany during the 60th year anniversary and the Germans are STILL making sure that people over there cannot deny nor forget their complicity.

The same holds true for this film. Once seeing the truth, the barbarity behind our use of animals, people can no longer claim, "Gee, I did not know". THAT is the purpose to the violence. You can talk about it all you want, but unless people SEE and FEEL a visceral attack to their sensibilities, they WILL NOT ACT, THEY WILL NOT CHANGE. Education has its limits. Just look at the levels of obesity, of smoking, of using chemicals...all proven to damage health, yet people don't change their ways despite KNOWING through education that these things are bad. Sometimes, you simply must FORCE people to open their eyes and this film does that.

How else are you going to convey the true horror behind all of this with words?? I can sit and write or talk about blood, guts, terror, torture, abuse, etc from now until eternity and it won't mean much to very many. However, if I SHOW YOU that same stuff, you have a VERY DIFFERENT reaction to it, don't you? THAT is why there is violence in this movie...because it EXISTS and goes on EVERY DAY. It is the REALITY of the issue and nothing else brings it to the same level of consciousness as does the visual and auditory. This video is a profoundly useful and effective tool of education for those reasons. While it would be great if we could convince people of the horror without all the graphic violence, you can count on that this violence was NOT included gratuitously, but for real purpose. How can you not see or realize that?

I believe that Stacey quite adequately addressed the child issue above, so I won't touch on that, but I agree with her entirely on it!!

Lamargo, Truly I do not feel at all burdened by any of the comments, and am always happy to speak on behalf of our animal friends.I met up with three friends, who are not members of Care2 tonight, and each committed to watching Earthlings. I purchased a copy from PETA a while back, so I will let them each, take turns with it. Rebecca, you are right on, in saying that "talk" alone, has little effect on most. I spent half the evening going on & on, to these gal pals of mine.I was fluent with the facts, and the reality, of what is going on behind the scenes...I even spoke in my loudest voice, so no one would miss a single thing I was trying to convey..yet, they didn't bite. Finally I showed them some of Meet your Meat's footage..and suddenly they were concerned.
They apparently had No idea, but will get the "entire" picture when they see Earthlings. Isn't it amazing how many people hear the truth, but refuse to dig deeper, and actually view it. Kudos to every single person who took the time to watch this, either in part or in its entirety!!

mamabearclaw you put, in capital letters "WHY WOULD I HAVE TO SEE SUCH VILONCE TO STOP ME FROM EATING MEAT?" I am very busy with important stuff regarding animal safety.... at least I know how to spell!!!

What I don't understand is... if you care about animals why the hell slag off Earthlings?!!! The film has transformed lots of people for the better. It's up to you if you don't watch it, but DON'T SLAG IT OFF!!!!!

Obviously many people are passonate about this. That is a very good thing because it is indifference that will allow it to continue.

I am very sensitive and made msyelf watch and listen to every second of the video. Why? One needs to see the TRUTH to know what they are doing as a species to our fellow earthlings.
My biggest personal dissapointment in this life is that I am a human being yet I would not care to be another species controlled, abused and have atrocities committed against me by human beings either. A personal conundrum.

I just found this amazing prayer (I am not religious) which says it all for me, about this film and the arguments against it.

WITH MY EYES

My prayer tonight is for all who
lie down in chains and cages.

Alone and afraid on
a concrete floor.
Soundless screams behind
the clang of metal.
Locked in rooms
most will never see.

I feel their fear arise in my soul
Ancient yet new...
A primal flame burning against
the walls of my heart.

I want to scream an endless note,
Loud and true:

Clubbed.
Forgotten.
Dismembered.
Forgotten.
Gassed.
Forgotten.
Beaten.
Forgotten.
Burned.
Forgotten.
Electrocuted.
Forgotten.
Abandoned.
Forgotten.
Poisoned.
Forgotten.
Skinned.
Forgotten.
Shot.
Forgotten.
Caged.
Forgotten.
Shackled.
Forgotten.
Murdered.
Forgotten.

And with my eyes,
they will be seen.

With my voice,
they will be heard.

With my hands,
they will know comfort.

With my action,
they will be free.

Dear God, fill their oppressors
with mercy and empathy.
Dear God, instill compassion
where there is apathy.
Replace horror with grace.
Bloodshed with healing.

Restore all humans and animals
to their natural place.
Liberate all humans and animals
from greed, violence and hate.

So that tonight and evermore,
ALL may lie down to sleep
unchained
uncaged
free.

AMEN

Panda Bear, why don't you lose the profanity? It's great your passionate about animal issues, but contrary to what you seem to think, you aren't the only one. It's rude that you are personally attacking people. This doesn't help anyone, in fact this chases people away. Get a grip!

I just have one more thing to say. Some people have got the idea that this film is extreme and about extremes of cruelty to animals. It isn't. It is about everyday normal animal lives. This is happening to millions of animals everyday all over the world and for the supposed benefit of us humans. If you use animal products of any sort then you are complicit in it and if they have to suffer for that then you need to see it!

I am so very thankful to all those, who choose NOT to forget, the suffering, and loss, of so many innocent lives. Alf..Thank You for the video, although as a Vegan and animal lover I was unable to get through it's entirity. I know how much our animals are suffering and who ever is brave enough or wishes to see truth in what pain they endure will like many, be asking for forgiveness, and praying for healing on the highest level..I would suggest to those who wish to make a change in their lives to buy the book, Shopping guide for caring consumers. It is a guide to products that are not tested on animals. If this can be a first step for some, thank you for making a conscious change, once you view this video, it will not be hard to do. I have met many people here on care2 that are the most compassionate, loving people. For that I am thankful and grateful, for now I follow a choosen path, not one that I was formed into believing was the only path. I now choose life, in all forms. We as human are not superior to any living, breathing creature put here on Earth to exist and live without being subjected to such cruelty and mass destruction. And for those who choose not to make any changes in regards to the lives of animals, I will keep you in prayer, that soon you will see the truth of life in every form.~With Love always~Kim K

I did not watch the video, but, with the above comments........Yes, I watched "Soylent Green" starring Charlton Heston and Edward G. Robinson (his last movie before his death), Wow, what an impact that movie had ! I often talk about that movie, because I can see how the world is coming to be. Back when it was made, it was considered futuristic ! But, I can see with overpopulation, shortages and the cost of energy, the future is now here ! I didn't watch the video because I was afraid it would be too, graphic ! Well, I'll have to keep wondering about the graphics ??

I dont know what good this film has done for me. I already hate factory farms. I have always known they were horrible. What i do know is that it is so incredibly violent and horrible that i have spent hours trying to stave off hysterics. And i am not one that considers myself to be overly sensitive. There is nothing i can do that i am not already doing except hug my cats a little more. Theyre already spoiled rotten as it is. I will not be forwarding this to people because i think it is just too much. There is not one person i would wish viewing this on and i regret sitting through as much of it as i did. I have no idea what viewing an animal that is still alive and in agony after having all of its skin ripped off of it in a chinese fur farm or whatever it is supposed to change in me. I dont wear. There is no need for anything like that in my climate. All that this film has managed to accomplish is to make me cry for hours until i puked and to make me feel slightly suicidal. I won't sleep tonite and i dont know how long it will be before my body makes me. Just what am i supposed to do with this information and images i have inserted into my mind now? Enlighten me, how has this changed my life beyond throwing me into a rather nasty depression? "Wonderful!" the comments said. "Everyone should see this!" the comments said.
I understand what has been said about people needing to see the truth, but what am i supposed to do with it now? I already sign petitions. I dont have any money to give, i dont live in an area where i can picket or make a nuisance of myself, am i supposed to get online and yell at people and harass them like one is doing in this comment section? I can see how well that is working, that person comes off as a frothing idiot.
I just dont understand what i am supposed to do with this now................

Laura, respectfully, what you are suppose to do with the contents of your head & heart, caused by all that "Earthlings" has shown you, is to pass it on.In some way,big or small, find a way to "educate" others.Joaquin Pheonix asks at the films end."What do they(the animals) get for all of their pain and suffering?"
The greatest thing we can give to them now, is spreading the news and the truth to others...to do otherwise, is "apathetic"!!
Thank you for watching!

I have never been more moved to fight for a cause . We are all aware of man's inhumanity to man,a child dies every 30 seconds from lack of food or medicines, from wars of stupidity and neglect. My life has been spent working for human related cause/relationship problems for the last 50 years, civil rights,anti-war,etc,
Thank you for this excellent film, my tears of sorrow will aid me in not eating any more meat. Never thought I would or could accept a fruit and veggie diet, but I will certainly give it a try.

I worked in labs in the 60-70S but we never touched a white rat without puting it to sleep first. Some scientists do have feeling,I'm glad I worked for one that did.

Mara......Your thoughts are greatly appreciated and much like my own. But, we are here, we were born & created at a time when all this conciousness was not the least bit thought off; our parents world and the planet earth was as big as the galaxy we live in.

Now our children will shoulder the immense burden of past utopian thinking. Since I've become so aware because of Care2 I've concluded the solution to it all is massive monumental reducing human population and that goes against the grain socially and culturally almost worldwide. People know reducing our own will better their childrens lives but do not want to be ordered/told to do it.

I personally never shut up about overpopulation every chance I get, and I even get tired of hearing myself. How can we possibly have a better world by comparision not nearly the animals on earth as once was before man came into such dominance and control of who dies and who lives.

I'm not ashamed of being here. Like many I had no control over the fact my parents created me in what was probably no more than a hot moment as it true of billions more of us. Animals are controlled by the seasons of reproduction and now mans decimation of them, that does cause me shame and pain.

Think of tomorrow-
Pick up the litter
Plant seeds
Grow trees
Make a forest
For Mother Nature
And her animals.........................

This film has to be distributed to more people. I watched the whole film and now I will not be able to eat that hamburger I thawed for my dinner. The cows frightened eyes, jerking movements, terrified and pleading eyes make me whince, sob, and feel dark and hopeless inside. To see people take such pleasure in tormenting an animal, makes me sick! Right now I am very hungry, but can't eat meat, and don't want to any longer. I would have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich now, but had to throw the jar away because it was tainted with salmonella. I haven't been able to force myself to eat peanute butter since that story. I need some meatless recipes that'll stop my hunger. What do people eat? I love fruits and vegetables, but they don't fill me. Besides pasta, pizza, and salad, any meatless and filling food suggestions out there?

Hello Kay..First off Congrats for watching and for choosing to act on all that you were shown via this film. Second..if you are truly serious about becoming a vegetarian..Go to Goveg.com and you can sign up for the weekly vegetarian recipes, which will come through your email. If that link is incorrect simply go to Peta.com or peta2.com and you will be able to access the "take the 30 day pledge" link.
Until then, know that eating right takes some effort.. as does anything worth while. Some filling & vegetarian foods that keep me satisfied are legumes, tossed into a salad. Lentils, kidney, cannelinni. etc..There are also a variety of different veggie burgers, which are actually very yummy.
You must also realize that in the beginning,as you give up meat, dairy, etc..many things may taste bland to you, when compared to foods with high fat content, such as meat. There are many ways to spice up your veggie choices, it just may take some research & time...Hang in there..eventually your taste buds adapt, as will your cravings. You will be amazed at the health bennifits you reap, due to such an important lifestyle change. Good luck, and on behalf of the planet & animals..I thank you!!

This is the most disturbing video I have ever seen. I had to shut it off because I did not want my son to see the images when he came home from school. It only had about a half hour left but I didn't want him to see any of it. He is very sensetive and I am afraid it would give him nightmares. Even though he is nine. Something must be done. Alf,
Let there be tens of thousands of Alfs in the world !!
Let all educational institutions make it compulsory for the students see this video!! Will they? Let all parents make it a lesson of moral education for their children. Let the message be percolated to the world full of violence for its own sake!! Let all people see the video as compulsory bore they have their dinner every day. Let humanity be compelled to see the video and be made to answer questions on the video just as they do for TV shows by SMS from Home!! Then watch how the graph of terrorist attacks dwindle !! Will humanity do it?? Let flesh eating be stopped !! Let the myth of insufficiency of food be exploded!! Then there is hope for redemption for humanity!

Are you offended? My name is NOT Panda Bear... you could've at least got that right!!!
I'm not here to please you, I'm here because I care passionately for the wellbeing of animals & will do 'whatever it takes' to help as many as I can... profanity is NOTHING compared to the vivisection & skinning of live animals etc the poor babies need me DAILY... I'll NEVER give up!!!
I'll 'attack' anyone that says ANYTHING against those that can't speak up for themselves & the last thing I'm gonna do is change because you tell me to... DEAL WITH IT!
Oh, by the way... the only 'grip' I 'need' is round the throats of evil animal abusers!!!

Well, I only made it 20 minutes before I was physically sick; as others have said, I have done research, seen the pictures and am aware of what is happening and I am very glad this video is here and getting such a response. Thank you Alf. As a vegan whose 6 rescued cats and 2 rescued dogs are all spayed/neutered, I feel helpless and hopeless at times. What else to do? So as Bette said, I talk. A lot. And I serve yummy vegan food to everyone I can. And I have gotten a lot of people interested. I get mad, and frustrated sometimes, like at my daughters animals sciences teacher who calls her "Pasty" because she is vegan (he is a cattle rancher as well as a professor....and is very uneducated about the reality of factory farms - his isn't apparently) But the word is getting out, several above have said they will not eat meat or use animal related products which is awesome! I, too, thought I was a confirmed meat eater until I found out what was really going on out there and I can not be a part of it. Period. So my daughter and I are vegan and I am actually loving it!!! I feel so much healthier!!!

For people who are just learning this lifestyle, another GREAT website for recipes, questions answered and general support is vegweb.com! There are ingredients in veg recipes that are not common in non-veg, and this site has a dictionary that tells you what they are and great members who are happy to share their knowledge and experience. It's kind of a smaller, vegan care2. And most of the food I've tried is fantastic!!! So good luck and great karma!!!! And I, too, think this movie should be required for high school graduation. Most people just don't know.

It shows the worst of us. The imigages in the film bring saddness to my heart knowing I'm a part of the human race. At the same time I have seen the compation of humans. I have seen kindness and I must not loose sight of that spark of good in the human race. I and I hope we can do better. A mighty storm begins with a gust of wind. The greatest of jurneys starts with a single step. I hope this film is the begining of a storm the first step for all of us to be better "earthlings".

.

Back up the list on May 20th, Laura asked desperately what she is supposed to do now... with the images from this film inserted into her mind. My suggestions are simple. 1) GO VEGAN. It is the single greatest and most influential thing one can do for ALL animals, and 2) Start a world wide dialog with MEN. I don't want to get too convoluted here but hear me out. As unjust as it is, women worldwide are not yet, for the most part, in positions of power and influence. And many who are today, generally become so battle scarred and/or greedy themselves, they seem to lose touch with all their empathy and compassion. The vast majority of animal exploitation is Corporate! And Business is a War-game with a capital W! And men are the chief players! And so many other women just think they should "play along". But look at this (mostly) beautiful list of passionate, intelligent, empathetic, compassionate comments! 99% of them are from WOMEN!!!

It's high time to "take this to the streets" so to speak. To your husbands, your religious leaders, your doctor, your store keepers, your co-workers, your children, your teachers, your kid's coach, your elected representatives, the man on the bus,... It is only through active, effective dialog that the societal MINDSET of "animals as PROPERTY" will ever change! And that is what needs to change in order for laws to change!... in order for behaviors to change!... in order for ANIMAL RIGHTS to become a reality!... and then, and only then, will there be peace... will "ALL lie down to sleep unchained, uncaged, free."

Thanks, ALF... In you I trust.

Bette, in answer to your question why (most) other men don't think like me?

I believe it is a combination of ALL of the things that go to make up International society, promulgated simply by generational habit! Parents and children take their "instructions" from all that is around them. Everything from the established school systems, to religious teachings and rituals, to mass media, to advertising... it all continues the "war game"! Competition and our "struggle for survival" has made us forget about everything that really matters!

Women must be become more responsible instead of just being "players in the war game". It is high time to reign the boys in! I believe women have the responsibility and ability to do this! The most important first step to shift our societal paradigms is to teach our children to STOP EATING MEAT!

Frightening how detached as a society we are to the extreme, barbaric torture and slaughter of innocent creatures. Every day I am aware of their endless suffering and helplessness to end their misery. Everyone on this planet has the opportunity and ability to make dramatic changes for the plight of the voiceless by making compassionate choices and striving daily to live a cruelty free lifestyle.

It took me an hour and 15 minutes to get my 12 yr old to watch 45 minutes and the whole time he said I was sick for making him watch it Afterward he argued that he wasn't the cutting their throats and he wasn't going to grow up to work in a slaughter house. He finally said " Fine I'll just stop eating meat."

My 12 year old Nephew just watched this for 45 minutes and I was told by he mother to watch it also, As my Nephew pleaded Don't watch it. My Windows Vista will not let me watch it. So, I just read all your comments and now I remember I have already seen all three parts of this clip and the movie everyone is referring to and talking about. but i 'll try to watch it again, if my nephew has nightmares.

Chickens have always gotten the short end of the stick. There really is not a easy clean way to kill a chicken. When I was growing up on my family's farm in Iowa, my father would chop off Mr. Chickens head on a wood block and my mother then had the unplesant job of pulling the feathers out. Some plants gas them, some hang them by their feet and drop them in very "hot" liquid. ALL meat packing plants look for the cheapest way to kill their product. They do not see God's creatures as anything but money in their product. I know I am going to get in trouble for saying this, most of the shader plants have uneducated illegal people doing the dirty jobs and the white collar folks sit in their offices. The anwser is changing this practice and educating our children with the facts instead of covering up the lies with excuses.
Thanks for caring...

I think there's no point in seeing this and forwarding this to mass. We need to architect a strong, strict and enforcing law to abide by, preventing cruelty to animals. The national government should start enforcing very severe penalty(including imprisonment and monetary fines). The law should be common to all animal killers and man-killers. Govt should not care about the oppositions while establishing this law.
Thanks for this shocking and moving video...

I was believing in what i saw in this film. I believed it to be an everyday thing in some places, but now i think it is more like propaganda if the answer is to "become vegan" and what is shown is more the extreme than the common. I see it as more of a way to convert people to a certain lifestyle that giving a single flying shit about animals and their welfare! Are you the people that make your cats eat vegetarian too? Do you scold them for chasing mice? I think THIS RIGHT HERE is a perfect example of why animal rights have not been taken farther. Your reaction is to become vegan or nothing, nothing else is good enough, nothing else is worthy, and therefore, the rest of the population writes all of you off as a bunch of crazies. You offer no ideas for better treatment of animals, just set the cows free to run the streets and starve to death and be hit by cars! Thats the only COMPASSIONATE thing to do, right? How about offering some REALISTIC ideas to the public? How about offering some ideas that dont COMPLETELY DENY THE FOOD CHAIN! Those of us that actually live out in nature see that there is a food chain. Granted, factory farming is a complete horror that should be absolutely done away with. But you start cussing the small farmer that has sick calves in his house in the winter taking care of them, you guilt the compassionate people that actually DO treat their animals with respect, then you loose a lot of allies. You alienate people that would be at the forefront of fighting against factory farms and industry that abuses animals by expecting everyone to become vegan.

Jeffrey Allen (147)

.
Laura, forget the labels, forget the propaganda for a moment. Consider this:

I try to live in a way that does not harm animals.

Do you find anything threatening about this? It is my lifestyle.

I think the fact that you abhor factory farming is good of you and suggests compassion. It bewilders me that you are NOT also bothered by the small farmer who nurses his sick calves back to health only to slit their throats, or have someone else slit their throats, later on. Do you find anything threatening about my opinion?

I feel the slaughterhouse is one of the cruelest aspects of factory farming, but no matter how much "respect" an animal is given in life (i.e. the "humanely raised" animal), that respect is stolen away from them in death. Is their anything threatening about my opinion?

Please do not misunderstand me. In my ranting about Veganism as, "an uphill battle I hope we win", my intention is NOT to exert force or even legislation in that regard. I want ONLY to try to make people think about the necessity of harming living creatures.

Still you won't have to suffer that too long, the animals that you munch on are filled with anti-biotics, growth hormones etc. that's not including the cancers that are ground up & find their way into your food.... Laura,..Many people do not realize that consuming animals is not only bad for you, it can make you sick with disease of Many, Many kinds!! If you regard life,((( ALL life))) you will see that animals were not put here on Earth for us to consume. I agree we have to come up with solutions to some of the matters this is creating. Animal products are making people sick and dying...We((the people who cherish life of everykind are trying to make a differences for the animals, but money, greed and political agendas force us to take the only stand we know to make an impact in our world...Take the 30 day pledge not to consume animal products, I believe it was through PETA I found this and I have been a vegan since. The suffering, the disease, the fact that you really do not know what is in that meat is terrifying in itself,..And I have lost 30 pounds since cleaning my body of such toxins...Best of luck to you Laura and please view meetyourmeat on Peta.com, there you will see what really goes on, and they are not isolated cases, it is fact!!~~With Love, Kim K~~

First of all Panda..You are a scream..Secondly, well said Jeffrey, however I do think that Laura is severely threatened by, not only the compassion which is abounding , in this discussion, but the wisdom of our words, as well.My dear friend Kim, mentions how meat is not just high in cholesterol, but is high in certain other toxins too. Toxins that are indeed causing many illnesses in humans, who consume them via meat! Could it be, that doing the right thing for the animals, our bodies, and planet earth, requires so much more discipline, will power & compassion, than Laura feels capable of, at this time.? It has a rather familiar ring to it. Like the childrens fable.."The fox & the grapes". where the hungry fox couldn't reach the bunch of grapes, which hung higher than he could jump! Well in the end, as he watched the crow devour them, he walked away spouting"They were probably sour anyhow"..The moral of the story has the same principle.."Most people will reject, what ever they have tried & failed to accomplish, with insults and uninformed information, especially if such persons are insecure and unhappy with self! Laura, for your 411, becoming a vegan, speaks entirely for itself. It needs no propaganda, or marketing device. "Earthlings does not simply touch down on isolated cases of slaughter house procedures,. It is the norm, and happens daily. You can either be part of the problem or a part of the solution..Your choice!! Go Well!

I did not watch this video and will not watch it. I assume that the man is slaughtering some type of animal. I cannot handle watching stuff like that, I'm too emotional. It also looks as if it is from a different country. If this is the case, there is absolutely nothing anyone can do to change another country's practices where animals are concerned. It is up to their government. And if it is in China it is even worse since it is a communist country....even the citizen have no voice. We have our own uphill battle to fight with the FDA and USDA.

Panda Queen

How can anyone be taught compassion for other human beings when they are not shown compassion. Panda Queen your comment to Laura stems from the same root of all human lack of compassion. You may not eat a tortured and slaughtered animal but you may have tortured and slaughtered a human soul. Which is the greater crime against our fellow earthlings?

Until we each can show all beings compassion there will be war, torture, slaughter and every unimaginable atrocity and travesty committed by human beings.

On closing one has enough to do to cleanse their own soul without judging anothers. Focus on being the best you, you can be and you will have your hands too full to cast aspersions on anyone else.

If anyone wishes to respond to me do so personally as I have ended tracking this story.

Jo W, how can you say that I 'have no compassion'? I have a ton of compassion for those that CAN'T speak up for themselves... As for the evil human race, I'll never understand (& why should I?) how they can KNOW the information about the dreadful torture/murder that they're obviously part of, but they refuse to change!!!? The animals are sufferring every second of every day, can you imagine telling them 'never mind about your suffering, humans need compassion, kindness & time before they change'!!? As far as I'm concerned, this is Vegan WAR! A war for the animals, they have suffered & been enslaved for far too long!

Isn't it strange that Jo W didn't wanna stay around to get an answer?! I'll def be forwarding this message to her personally, because she obviously don't believe this subject is important enough to stay around

I believe that with~Love~ all things are possible. Some might not be as animal educated as others. And to be honest until I found this website and educated myself, I really had no idea what was really happening to these animals...Thats the honest truth...But if we educate others continually through organizations that protect these innocent lives, thats all we can do. If some do not see tourture, slaughter and how some of the gov organizations are allowing this to happen all for the sake of $$$, there are no words in which we can say to make them feel compassion for animals in order to make a difference not only for the lives of animals on all levels, but for their own health and longevity of life in the human form here on Earth....I truly believe that some here are so very close and involved ,and see what happens with their own eyes...They know of the corruption and of the sad lives these 4 legged friends of ours really endure..If we all work together and with love, we can move mountains and we will make a difference...That being said,..I wish to make no enemies, only to state what I believe as the truth~~With Love for Life, everything is possible~~ KIm K

I apologize for not being able to look at the whole thing. I can't watch any living creature being tortured in any way and for myself it isn't neccessary to see what I know. All living creatures have Spirits and deserve the same respect that human beings expect in this World.
We are all connected. We are all related. All those who walk, crawl swim and fly. I will do anything to help make these atrocities STOP. All I need to know is how I can help do that.

The truest definition of the words " I don't care" are when we treat anything else, be it another human or any other living being ( and anyone that thinks a plant doesn't scream when it's ripped from it's bed hasn't listened hard enough ) is when we stop thinking of those others as true living beings but as things. I learned that years ago and it stopped me from eating meat and made me remove all things that weren't natural fibre from my wardrobe. No skins, nothing. My mother gave me a fur coat for my 16th birthday and I nearly took HER skin off ( after all, "What young lady doesn't want a fur?" THIS ONE!!!! I ASKED for a FRYING PAN, you TWIT. Upper class is SOOO stoooopid ) I won't lie and claim I've watched this all the way through. I pretty much get the point when I see the Bulls which I have fought against for 30 years now. The bannining of leg-traps, which the U.S. trappers have been so loathe to give up. My own country's inistence that the seal hunt is needed for anything other than the Inuits OWN personal survival and culture. No one else needs to look pretty in the seal's coat other than the seal. I will forward this, I do assure you.

Trish.......You are to be commended for your philosophy and honorable beliefs. I too follow the same theme in lifestyle.
All of us can turn the whole world around if only we would turn our backs permanently on The Glass Canyon of advertisement that spills from Madison avenue of television, books, magazines and word of mouth. How else can we conquer the devistation peeking over the horizon of our lives and the lives of every living animal on earth.

Is it at all possible?.......It is if we get over self declaration of having more than the next person who walks by us. Everybody want to be a somebody but at the cost to all of us does not make sense.
Man has signed his own death by continueing to be led around by the nose of commercialism.........

The time is now to STOP the falseness of superficial lifestyle and go on as simple humans living with needs instead of wants.

Think of tomorrow-
Plant seeds
Grow trees
Make a forest
For Mother Nature
And her animals..............

WHEN I TAKE SOME MEDITATION TIME, (OUT OF MY EVERY DAY,) WHETHER IT BE, ON A WALK,SITTING BY THE OCEAN,WORKING IN MY GARDENS..OR EVEN IN MY CAR, IN BETWEEN STOPS...I ALWAYS FIND MYSELF, PLAYING BACK "EARTHLINGS" OVER & OVER AGAIN, IN MY MIND. SO I SAY A PRAYER FOR EVERY SINGLE CREATURE, THE FALLEN,THE IMPRISONED, THE EXPLOITED,THE TORTURED, THE ABUSED & NEGLECTED, THE UNWANTED, AND EVEN THE ONES.. WHO, FOR THE MOMENT, KNOW.... NO SUCH PAIN & SUFFERING YET. I AM CERTAIN MANKIND WILL FIND THEM TOO, IN TIME.
LAMARGO, I TOO, FOUND THE "KOSHER" SEGMENT COMPLETELY HORRIFYING,(NOT THAT THE REST OF THE MOVIE WAS ANY BETTER, BUT "MAN"..THAT CONTRAPTION, THOSE TERRIFIED COWS WERE FORCED INTO, IN MY OPINION, SIMPLY PROLONGED THEIR AGONY!! NOT TO MENTION ,THAT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEIR "KOSHER" ,SLAUGHTER LAWS, WERE IGNORED,& BROKEN !!
IT WAS, BUT AGAIN, ANOTHER BRUTAL AND TRAGIC EXAMPLE, REAVEALING MAN'S, MISUSE, ABUSE AND DOMMINANCE, OVER ANOTHER BEING, WHO BTW, IS HELPLESS TO FLEE, FIGHT, OR EXPRESS ITS DESIRE TO "LIVE". FREE FROM MAN'S, DISTRUCTIVE TENDENCIES, AND HIS OBSESSION WITH CONTROL & DOMMINANCE!!

Thank you! My heart weeps at the very thought of what this film reveals, all facts that were already known somehow certainly through the collective, yet not known to the conscious awareness. When our moods suddenly and swiftly plummet but we do not know why isn't it reasonable to imagine that the pains from these beautiful beings in crisis have reached us? It's definitely plausible. We are all connected and hopefully this film, so expertly made and with so much excellence of integrity, will create a shift the like of none before, to wake people everywhere to the demand for a stop to this violence. Who would wish to eat of the flesh that has been tormented and dishonored? Who would wish to teach their loves that brutality, cruelty and disrespect of young and old are acceptable? None in their right minds would surely. My partner, having seen this, has joined me in a veggie lifestyle now for which I'm grateful. Thanks again, so very much, and grace be to all who have the courage to view, share and live in accordance with the better way so evident now, in honor. Lovingly,

Thank you for sending this to me. I am sorry but I could not make it past the first 17 minutes before I was physically sick. This will follow me for quite some time. I can see already how this could be changing lives. I hope it changes a lot of lives. As much as I wish it were not true, I doubt that the halocaust of non-human creatures may never end. Human arrogance, selfishment, and sense of entitlement may never allow it. Too many humans do not even care about their own species. We live in a selfish and greedy world. I do not know if it will change. Thank Goddess, there are so many people seeing this video and passing it on. Perhaps that will make a difference in the long run. I certainly hope it does. I am glad to know so many people do care.

I watched part of this film and found it to be very well done and moving. I cried during part of it. However, I wish to propose why I believe we are not as bad as everyone things, and why we should still believe in our own innate goodness as human beings even if we ocassionally eat meat. First of all, if we are animals, is it not that far of a leap to rationally argue that leopards, cheetahs, dogs, eagles, etc. etc. eat other animals. So if we are all equals, why can we too not eat other animals. The real issue is that we are overpopulating the earth and unbalancing the ecosystem, many ecosystems. This is the real travesty. Think of the Native Americans hunting wild buffalo and making moccasins. Does this seem cruel? If we respect the spirit of the animal and honor it, and kill it as humanely as possible in order to nourish our bodies and protect our children's feet, is that so terrible? The terrible thing, again, I think is the WAY we do these things. The lack of respect. The act of taking an animal's life for reasons of survival are merely animalistic, which this film admits we are. The travesty is that we are not more compassionate and not more ecologically aware about it.

Robin, I wanted to respond to your "animal eats animals" rationale. Aside from that horrific cruelty we participate in by eating flesh (which you acknowledge), my feeling is non-human animals don't have a choice. Those who are carnivores are "programmed" to eat meat through evolution. Human animals have evolved to a point where we DO have a choice. In addition, there is the very valid physiological argument. See this page on my Coolwater4animals website. The physiology is described on the bottom half of the page.

I see by your profile you're Vegetarian. I hope you'll research and consider going Vegan. It is the single greatest and most influential thing one can do for ALL animals.

I want to acknowledge your words, I'm not scolding you, but admiring your courage not to back down. My daughter shared "Rage Against The Machine", and Zack Dela Rocha with me a few years back...and I listen, and I hear..and I got it....
Anyone ever heard about the band "Rage Againt The Machine"?
First think about the name.
Then about the words.
Are we not, each and everyone of us a part of the machine?
Think about machine in the garden. The garden is the planet..Mother Earth.
Are we not the machine in the garden conquering nature and her creatures?
Every since I heard "Killing In The Name Of...", by: "Rage Against the Machine"
it all came together in my mind and heart and soul. That is why it hurts me so much...
Thank you Panda, again for not backing down......*S*
for I too worry less about the words, but rather the reality and the truth.....
because we are a world in denial......

Animal Cruelty

As long as man eats animals how can cruelty to animals be removed.
Morarji Desai
I do not say that one who is vegetarian is full of compassion and one who is not, is otherwise. We sometimes find people, who are vegetarians, are very bad people.
Morarji Desai
I would, therefore, say that for no reason whatsoever, except in self-defence, should one think of killing any animal.
Morarji Desai
If we do not want to be pained by anybody we must not pain anybody; and how can man consider himself humane if he wants to live at the cost of others.
Morarji Desai
Let me assure you that all of our pets, and animals of every kind will be with us for eternity on the Other Side.
Sylvia Browne
I have reached zero tolerance for the cruelty against our animal brothers. If we are to nuture our culture, let’s begin with the animals who have been nothing but our beasts of burden for so long.

If there is justice with no mercy, Ira Flatow will have to come back countless times as a lab rat for all the cruelty he has promoted on NPR.
Author: Animal Rights
people who are willing to kill animals just to satisfy their greed for meat are ultimately, really, killing themselves by their cruelty . . . that is God at work http://www.egroups.com/messages/christianveg.
Author: Fleur Wiorkowski
We Are The Living Graves Of Murdered Beasts We are the living graves of murdered beasts Slaughtered to satisfy our appetites We never pause to wonder at our feasts If animals, like men, can possibly have rights We pray on Sundays that we may have light To guide our footsteps on the path we tread We're sick of war We do not want to fight The thought of it now fills our hearts with dread And yet we gorge ourselves upon the dead Like carrion crows we live and feed on meat Regardless of the suffering and pain We cause by doing so. If thus we treat Defenseless animals for sport or gain How can we hope in this world to attain the PEACE we say we are so anxious for We pray for it o'er hecatombs of slain To God, while outraging the moral law Thus cruelty begets its offspring: war.

This is a very moving video....I never dreamed people could be so cruel, but its a cruel world we live in....every one of those people who cause an animal or another human being should be done the same way....I think things would really change if they felt what these animals feel..

I watched this video 3 weeks ago, it is a sick world we live in . It is of our makeing it so. I cry as much (IF NOT MORE) for a child who dies every 30 seconds for lack of food, drinkable water, lack of medicine, lack of sheter. 2 million working homeless in the USA alone.
We kill with our munitions ( our biggest indutry) hundred of thousands of people. Millions have died that were innocents in mans desire to conquer the world. The New World Order is rageing on in Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Afghanistan, Pakistan for Imperialists gain.
Until man can live in peace and harmony within the diverse cultures of our world, brutality to all of Creators gifts shall be doomed.

I watched the entire video and am sickened by the lifes and deaths of our fellow creatures. Mankind is the only animal who kills for pleasure alone, not just other people but animals as well. How can we continue to ignore this abomination? This video takes away our "I didn't know," excuses. If you can watch it in its entirety so much the better, if only partially so be it. It is an important work.

I watched the whole thing and cried all the way thru. The cruelty that humans are capable of inflicting onto other species as well as themselves is the most intense Horror Film you will ever see, the exception is that this film is real-not ficiton. Maybe someday the practices in this film will be a distant bad memory, and the future will hold nothing but kindness and compassionate treatment for all EARTHLINGS. These inhumane practices can no longer be allowed to skirt the laws and continue to harm these innocent creatures, this has to be stopped.

I am happy to see that this video is still circulating so strongly among the care2 members...Merry I wish to thank you for watching what you could of the video,it is heart breaking to say the least. For your belief that humans are the least caring on the earth, that is trus on some levels. I do believe that the people who are consumed with greed(((The allmighty $$$))), politically motivated and those who believe that life ,of any form are not equals..are the ones who are truly the uncaring ones in todays society...All the members here on care2 that I know are passionate and loving for all life..Please do not give up hope on humans and their ability to love and truly care about all of the animals here on earth... We are 6 million strong here on care2, and that's alot of love and caring for all life...For all of you who are tracking this thread, let's continue to move the message!!!. We will never tolerate animal abuse..on ANY LEVEL!!!~~With love, everything is possible~~Kim K

JEFFREY A... IS 100% ACCURATE IN HIS POSTING REGARDING THE CHOICE, WE AS HUMAN BEINGS HAVE,.. ABOUT CONSUMING, AND WEARING ANIMALS. WHEN WE THOROUGHLY COMPARE OURSELVES TO THE "TRUE" CARNIVIORES OF THIS PLANET, WE CAN ONLY BE LEAD TO A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THESE TRUTHS. " WE ARE PHYSIOLOGICALLY DESIGNED DIFFERENTLY THAN THEM(THE ANIMALS), AND HAVE SO MUCH MORE IN COMMON WITH OUR PLANETS "HERBIVORES" THAN ANY OTHER SPECIES. ...BECAUSE WE DO NOT LIVE PRIMARILY ON INSTINCT, SOME WHERE ALONG THE WAY, WE USED OUR FREE WILL..AND DECIDED TO PUT ANIMALS ON OUR MENU..IN THIS DAY AND AGE, WE ARE CONSTANTLY SUFFERING THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS CHOICE, AS OUR HEALTH & OUR PLANET'S HEALTH, CONTINUE TO WEAKEN & WITHER AWAY.
I AM FORCED TO WONDER THOUGH..HOW ANY VEGETARIAN, CAN RAISE QUESTIONS ABOUT WHY THEY AS HUMAN ANIMALS, SHOULDN'T PARTAKE IN THE EATING OF CARNAGE, TOGETHER, WITH THE EARTH'S GREAT FELINES, THE CANINES,& BIRDS OF PREY, ETC...
IF THEY ARE INDEED, ALREADY LIVING THE LIFE STYLE OF A VEGETARIAN OR VEGAN. THE ANSWER SHOULD ALREADY BE CRYSTAL CLEAR..AND THEIR UNDERSTANDING AND ACCEPTANCE, DEEPLY ROOTED WITHIN.
MOST SUCCESSFUL "VEGGIES", (THE ONES WHO ARE IN IT FOR THE DURATION) AND NOT SIMPLY BECAUSE THEIR CHOLETEROL IS ELEVATED, OR TO LOSE A FEW POUNDS.. TO THESE ...WITH SUCH A LIFE ALTERING DECISION TO MAKE, SUCH A REQUEST. LARGELY DUE TO THEIR COMPASSION FOR THE SOULS WHO ARE BRUTALLY SACRIFICED DAILY AND BY AN INTENSE DESIRE TO REMOVE BODY, MIND, AND SOUL, FROM CONTRIBUTING IN ANY WAY, TO SUCH A DEVASTATING INDDUSTRY.
AFTER THE INITIAL COMMITTMENT,OR PLEDGE ,..TO REFRAIN FROM CONSUMING MEAT.. ALL THE OTHER PUZZLE PIECES BEGAN TO FIT INTO THE BIGGER PICTURE..AND REVEAL TO US,THE HEALTH BEBEFITS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS NEW WAY OF LIFE, NOT ONLY FOR OUR SELVES, BUT FOR OUR PLANET. AS WELL.
SO TO GET BACK TO THE COMPARRISON. AND THE QUESTIONS, WHICH APPEAR TO BE "SELF DOUBTING & UNCERTAIN" I SHALL CAN ONLY OFFER THIS....
"WHEN WEARING THE BADGE & LABEL,OR USING YOUR VOISE TO HEAL & HELP YOUR SIS....ALLOWED ME TO SEE OE ALL BRING WITH A SENSE OF HONOR AND PRIDE. IF YOU HAVE BEEN COUNTED AMONG THIS BEAUTIFUL GROUP PEOPLE, I HOPE YOU WILL HOLD SUCH A TITLE, IN THE BRILLIANT RAY OF LIGHT..OF WHICH IT IS FROM.
PLEASE WEAR YOUR VEGETARIANISM WITH A GREAT SENSE OF WHO YOU RALLY ARE.. IF YOU STILL HAVE DOUBTS, TAKE A STEP BACK, AND SEE THE BEAUTY WHICH IS ALL AROUND YOU.!!
THERE IS BEAUTY IS MOST EVERYTHING...ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS THERE, BECAUSE YOU DECIDED "NOT" TO BE A PART OF IT'S DISTRUCTION.
CHOOSE VEGANISM, THEN "LIVE & LET LIVE"... THANK YOU ALL
ALWAYS~~~ S

SORRY GUYS..I JUST REREAD MY POST AND RELIZED THAT MY LAST PARAGRAPH STARTS OFF WITH SOME TYPE O'S. ITS LATE HERE, AND I CAN'T FIND MY READING GLASSES...NOT A GOOD THING.
WHAT I WAS ATTEMPTING TO CONVEY,WAS SIMPLY THIS: "IF WE CONSIDER OURSELVES TO BE VEGETARIANS, OR TELL OTHERS THAT WE ARE..THEN IT SEEMS ONLY LOGICAL & RIGHT, THAT WE LIVE ACCORDINGLY".WHILE IT IS APPARENT THAT VEGETARIANISM & VEGANISM ARE ON THE RISE, ESPECIALLY AMONG OUR YOUTH..IT SHOULD NEVER BE CONSIDERED.. OR ENTERED INTO, AS IF IT WERE SOME SORT OF TREND..ESPECIALLY IF WE DON'T ACTUALLY FEEL IT IS THE ABSOLUTE AND ONLY WAY, TO LIVE. MANY WHO TRULY DO LIVE IT, AND BREATH IT..EDUCATE THEMSELVES AND WHEN DOING IT FOR ALL THE RIGHT REASONS, ARE ABLE TO UNEQUIVOCALLY, DEFEND THIS WAY OF LIFE,& KNOW THAT THEY SHALL NEVER BE GOING BACK. I RESPECT THOSE, WHO HAVE LET THEIR COMPASSION, AND THEIR REVERENCE FOR LIFE, PAVE THE WAY TO A SUCESSFUL TRANSITION, IN MAKING VEGANISM... PERMENANT. I HAVE LOST 80 LBS, SINCE PROMISING "THE ANIMALS" I WOULD CHANGE EVERYTHING IN MY LIFE..TO BETTER THEIR'S. A FRIEND ASKED "HOW" I DID IT...I EXPLAINED..AND OFFERED HER "EARTHLINGS" TO VIEW. SHE SAID SHE'D PASS ON WATCHING IT, BUT NEEDED TO DROP SOME WEIGHT, SO SHE'D CONSIDER VEGETARIANISM.
I HAD TO SHAKE MY HEAD.. "WHAT" I ASKED HER.."WILL KEEP YOU FIGHTING OFF THE TENDENCIES, YOU'VE BECOME SO USED TO??"
AS I PREDICTED SHE LASTED A DAY, IF THAT..HER BIGGEST FAILURE, WAS HER APATHY AND DISREGARD FOR THE ANIMALS...WITHOUT THOSE, SHE HAD NOTHING TO STRENGTHEN HER WILL, AND KEEP HER FIGHTING...NOW, I SIMPLY TELL THOSE CERTAIN PEOPLE WHO EXPRESS AN INTEREST IN THIS LIFESTYLE.."UNLESS YOU TRULY CARE FOR THE PRECIOUS LIFE, WASTED, AND LOST ALONG THE WAY..IN HARVESTING CARNAGE FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION..THEN YOU WILL LIKELY FAIL AT THIS.
NOW, I UNDERSTAND THAT MANY SUCESSFUL VEGGIES, AREN'T IN IT..FOR THE SAKE OF ANYTHING OTHER THAN THEMSELVES..HOWEVER,,UNLESS IT'S DUE TO A HEALTH ISSUE,WHERE IT'S VITAL FOR THE CURE OR CONTROL OF ANY SUCH AILMENT..THEN THE MOTIVATING FACTOR FOR ALLTHE OTHERS, WILL BE WEAK AND INEFFECTIVE...AND THEY WILL RETURN TO .."THE SCENE OF THE CRIME" BEFORE TOO LONG... PEACE!!

I have not yet found the strength to watch this video. I have however consistently forced myself to keep up to date with the PeTA media page and have forced myself to watch most of the videos on the site. It leaves me in turmoil and shatters my soul to the very core and makes me want to fight all the more every time that I do. The torture and cruelty that we inflict upon animals is sometimes seemingly unreal to me. I find that Im never suprised at the endless inhumanity that exists in this world. I myself am a vegetarian for over a year now and as much as I try to explain to my family and friends, it is never understood.... After reading some of the comments about getting this message out to the people who need to hear and see it, I would like to just pass on this idea... PETA, among other organizations offer free educational materials such as leaflets to anyone who asks for it. I am a seller on Ebay and with every auction, I include this material in the package. It is only a small step, but I believe that it just might grab someones attention and encourage them to educate themselves a little more. Just an idea, as I know that many people use Ebay. I also just want to send out a million thank you's and praises to all of you here on Care2 for showing me that there are people in this world who DO care, who DO fight for what is right and just. A lot of you might feel that we are fighting battles that are seemingly impossible, but know this...Each & every single one of us make a difference!!!!! I may sometimes not be proud to call myself a member of the human race, but I am extremely proud to call myself a member of the Care2 community!!! You are all absolutely amazing! .....Noted!!!

THANK YOU FOR SHOWING US THE TRUE REALITY, EVERYONE WHO SAIS THEAT LOVES ANIMALS MUST SEE THIS FILM, EVEN IF IT'S DIFFICULT. TO LEARN. TO FEEL. TO UNDERSTAND THAT WE HAVE TO CHANGE. THANK YOU. I'M ASHAMED TO BE A HUMAN BEING. I DONT' KNOW HOW TO CHANGE TRADITIONS, HABITUDES, THE IDEA THAT HUMAN " MUST EAT MEAT"!~!!!!??? I KNOW, THIS FILM WILL CHANGE MY BAD CUSTOM, HABIT. Tonya I'm not surprised that you won't watch the suffering of animals being as you're a 'junk food junkie'.... eating shit makes you feel like shit, it's not helping your depression any!!! Panda Queen"

I see a continued pattern of no compassion and judgement for your fellow human beings here. Compassion for one sentient being includes all since we are one.

"Isn't it strange that Jo W didn't wanna stay around to get an answer?! I'll def be forwarding this message to her personally, because she obviously don't believe this subject is important enough to stay around"

Again judgement. Just because I stopped tracking it doesn't mean I haven't kept up to date on it. An assumption. I never did get the message you promised. :) There is no need to insult others or to be so contentious. You will help no one unless you do it from a place of love and love does not judge, insult or belittle. But I have found one must love oneself before they can love others.

The most marvelous video I have ever seen, a brilliant effort to expose the truth...not through opinions, but facts. So moved was I that I have been dedicating a part of my day, for months, to attempting to forward this to 10's of thousands of people -all "friends of friends",i ndividually at Care2. Unortunately....you can see by the comments being left here, this is no longer an educational process, but a "GANG WAR". So typical is this lately on the Care2 News Network...where we don't come to find informaion, but to bash each other, that I give up.
I refuse to spend my time circulating hatred. Who loses here? The animals do. Very, very sad- we have lost the enviroment, the animals, and each other even when we share a common goal. Very peculiar species, we are. So, in saddness, I say good-bye and will delete my profile from this maddness. Goddess Bless the individual who coined the phrase....."DROWNED WORLD"...

SPEECHLESS!!! I held it in as long as I could and watched half of it. My future SIL's family owns a pig slaughter house. I saw that and couldnt believe how they handle them. I already knew how hot dogs were made and I couldnt eat them at first when I found out. Then slowly I started to eat them again. I dont eat them all the time though. I eat turkey meat instead of beef meat cause it doesnt have alot of grease involved while cooking it. Now I dont know how I can cook while havin this image in my mind what the animal went through to get there. I am a High Sensitive Person and it did make me cry a bit.. I would love to have a dog farm. I love dogs. Cats are ok and they are cute but even if I dont like a certain animal, they shouldnt have to go through all that pain they never asked for...Just like we were never asked to be born. I only know of ONE RACE! The HUMAN RACE! Now as Humans, we are not always smart on how to survive this world. We lost alot with progression of technology. Yes, some technology is great but for the sake of the animals...thats just as bad as all the movies of SAW l, ll, & lll... My daughter came to me and wondered what I was doin on computer. She learned something new and started to cry and became very confused since we cook good tasting food. She dont know where to go with all this new info...I have the same feeling but at the same time, our veggies come in with perservitives(sp) and hoping all pestisides(sp) are well washed off before we buy, then again we still have to wash when we get home...so best bet is grow your own garden if you can...organic is expensive...so almost no win win situation....one human tries to make it great while another human destroys it evenutally...how we work in this world and have no will to really deep down change it. Otherwise we would have done so long ago... But as we say...we are only human even though we shouldnt have any excuses but we have them.. Thanks for the REALITY of this film. VERY STRONG!!!

Just goes to prove that we live in a sick and barbaric world, not content with destroying it, we are hell bent on putting all living things through hell, pain and torture, man has no compassion for anything other than greed, one good thing will come out of this dead planet, some animals will survive, mankind wont.
I am writing this and listening to the horrific sounds of those dying and tortured animals, the sight was bad enough, the sound is just as bad, just plain barbaric evilness that still exists here in the 21st century.

I have been in the dark for far too long. I have always been kind to animals, be they the ones who choose to live with me, or the wild ones. I had to watch this video in parts. I couldn't stomach it all at once. I cried so hard and got physically ill after watching parts of it!!! I guess I have chosen to remain ignorant for all these years, but you have opened my eyes....and I thank you. How can the saddistic freaks that do this sleep at night??? I wonder...hmmm....what will happen when other beings, superior to us, finally show up and start HARVESTING HUMANS....how will we feel, think, and view things then???? When we're all herded like those helpless animals into "human factories", what's everyone going to do then??? I've always put myself in the animals place and asked myself...."How would I feel if....?" Why is it sooooo hard for "people" to do that? These so-called "people" who are doing this slaughtering should be shot on sight and harvested themselves!!!!!

I realize that many have already said what I'm going to say. I have not yet finished watching it. I can only take it in 10 minute increments...with at least a little time in between. I have thought about going vegitarian for years...and the idea of eating meat off the bone for some reason disturbed me (although now that I've seen the some of the "farming" practices, I realize I'd seen this video, or parts of it before in an agriculture class). I think it's time I sucked up my laziness, which is the main reason I've never gone veggie...and refuse to eat meat, or their byproducts. Thank you, Alf for bringing this to our attention. My eyes have been willingly closed for far too long. Blessings.

I just finished watching the video. It took me nearly 3 hours to do so. For years I have contemplated going veggie, especially considering that I can't stand the sight of bones of any kind and chewing on the meat off a bone was nauseating. I didn't mostly because of laziness. Well...in addition to sodas and fast food (which I have given up to start eating healthier) I'm adding all meat to my list and animal byproducts to my list. This video shook me to the core...and yet...I knew it was happening, a long time ago (i'm talkng highschool) I saw a similar documentary, not nearly so long...and it was only about the farming....in an agriculture class (I do believe thats when I started my "no bones" policy). Still shaking from it this video, I had to make myself watch it. And I'm glad I did. Thank you and bright blessings.

I couldn't finish watching this video even though it is a must see for everyone. I was quite upset and I see most of us on Care2 were also & responded with a comment.
I wondered if anyone was going to do something about this-like start a Petition to our Governments(US & Canada) against the abuse that's going on. We have to tell them to enforce laws to change the way they
slaughter animals; & to do it in a more human way than exists right now.

Jena and Genie,

With great respect, let's be very clear and make no mistake, there is no such thing as "humane" slaughter.

See my comment on this linked C2NN story.

If you come to understand that ultimately, no animal should ever have been or continue to be regarded as "property", you will be on a solid footing to end ALL animal cruelty.

I completely agree with you Jeffrey. I wish we had more people like you. My family got together for the fourth of July, so my new diet and lifestyle struck them suddenly. I mentioned this movie that I had seen. And my father, I was absolutely horrified when he said it but he said..."well they're only animals." and then he laughed. I was so upset! I couldn't believe that he was so...callous about it.

Dorothy.......Your dad is no different than so many other people. The realization that animals have feeling, love to be loved and cared for just like us. Too many people were raised to see & treat animals based on another time, even now in the 21st century, and much of it is handed from one generation to another and left at that.
However, Earthling has had a tremendous impact on so many already..........To bad it can not be seen in theatres around the world and better yet in schools!

Think of tomorrow.....Plant seeds.....Grow trees.....Make a forest......For the animals........

Bette..I agree whole heartedly, that our schools should at the very least "OFFER" Earthlings, to its students.I would also like to see it aired on TV, though I'm sure that won't ever happen. Isn't it amazing how much time the media fills with useless crap? Ana Nicoles funeral service, for one. The time they all stood around waiting for Paris Hilton to get her self back to court, another..Hours were wasted!! I mean, this sort of reporting should be left to the national Enquirer. What Earthlings reveals, could bring financial ruin to the factory farming industry, if it were to be viewed on a global scale!! Not to mention all the other issues this film covers..What might happen if the truths about animal research were exposed, in the name of toothpaste, makeup and all the many drugs which were tested on innocent animals, under some horrific conditions..declared safe and effective, FDA approved, only to cause human fatalities in the end?? This is the news we should be hearing. This is important & critical information, as is, every other atrocity mankind commits against innocent creatures,, in the name of financial power, control & dominance. Many of the industries, who are getting rich, from the massive slaughter, & loss of animal life, are more than likely being sheltered and protected from being exposed publicly . Unless we go out of our way to find the truth and the reality, we shall never truly understand it all. It is up to each and every person, to seek out and find all they can, these are the same facts which many are working hard to keep from us. The good news is, is that we can & do have acess to this info, in its entirety..the same information that many have also worked tirelessly, to bring to us..Let none, who truly love & respect our fellow earthlings, pass on the chance to aquire an education, which most will refuse..yet eventually, come to wish they hadn't!! Choose to be a part of the solution.

I know so many people are simply a product of the consumerism that is shoved on them. I understand that. I also wish we could show this at schools, but I don't think that will happen any time soon as people would say it's "Too graphic" for children. As if the video games they are buy aren't.

Dorothy, your father's remark, "well they're only animals", may not be so much "callous" as ignorant. That same innocent ignorance that shrouds 95% of the planet, thanks to generational traditions preserved by families and corporate/industrial/government censorship or sanitization of the truth!

Alf! What a wondrous thing your humble post is evolving into here! 446 people, AND COUNTING, touched in 55 days! What an insight on your your part!

May they tell 10 people... and they tell 10 people... and they tell 10 people...

well...it wasn't really the comment that upset me so much. It was that he laughed afterwards. It is possible, I suppose, that he was trying to make it easier to say and/or hear, but it sure didn't come off that way. Ah, well, I can't force him to change. But I emailed a link here to all my friends and family so they can at least have a choice to watch or not as they see fit.

Hello Tom...and Thank You for having the strength and the courage to educate yourself by seeing, with your own eyes,,what "The Truth" is all about...I actually think you did amazingly well..by making it all the way to the half way mark..As for myself..well..I began hitting (PAUSE)..every 3-5 minutes from the get go!! I found myself losing my breath, crying like a baby, and screaming at the movie, as if it could somehow hear me...We won't even mention the swears, that I was flinging at everyone around me....For some people..it is a sick feeling they get, while viewing such brutality...For me...I get completely, out of my mind..ANGRY..and devastated. My family, simply steps aside and out of my way...as they understand how crazy and insane it is to torture animals, though only a few are vegans!
So feel proud in the attempt you made to get through Earthlings....If you can somehow muster up the courage..you should def see the second half...But do take it in..slowly and deliberately...and be sure to understand that the second half, "after" the "Factory Farming" segment..touches down on abuse, torture and the brutal treatment of, many different creatures!! Creatures, who are used and abused for (Animal Research), entertainment..and a host of other crimes. If you have not yet seen what Japan does to..not only the whales, but (Dolphins too)...It is so tragic..with just fragments of "HOPE".'
I am all but CONVINCED, as I hold on to any last thread of hope, that "very soon"..after us humans have decided..we have had enough blood shed and murder...not to mention, the illness's many have aquired over time, by consuming the carnage, which eventually rots within, and makes our society very ill.
Again..a big THANK YOU to ALF, for getting this video out th

I would just like to apologize to anyone who was upset by this film. Mamabearclaw and Laura I came back and read your comments and am sorry it upset you. I'm not sorry I posted it though as some people have already changed their lifestyles having watched it and realised what they must do. It is not propoganda it is the truth and it gives a solution. Please heed the warning any other sensitive people out there.

Alf......No need to apologize at all. This served a purpose far beyone what you may have ecpected. I could not watch it all the way through but am old enough to know what atroscities man is capable of. I've gone out on a limb to talk & encourage others in my private life to get people to see it.........

Man is after all the most brutal, selfish greedy being on this earth of the seas, the land and animals.............................

Think of tomorrow...Plant seeds....Grow trees....Make a forest.....For the animals............

I think this video should be shown to all. Lack of education is no excuse for inhumane acts.
Where did the pattern of them and us begin? Who taught us that so and such a species is lesser than us and does not have a soul or any feelings.

Find the why and we may then begin to heal the situation.
This video is a fine example of how a visual presentation has such impact as opposed to the written word.
Let this video be seen let people be aware of it's existence.

Actually, Paul, Descartes is the one who posited that animals have no soul and don't feel. A LOT of people bought into it and thus that theory continues in many ways.

Man I thought that Peta's website showed some horrible stuff being done to animals, but I was able to get through most of their movies. I didn't get beyond the first 20 minutes of this one. I will never understand how anyone could think so little of another life. I am proud to say that I am now a vegetarian, and I am so happy to have a site like this to communicate with like minded individuals. Thanks!

Absolutely shocking, moved me to tears but it has to be shown & mankind needs to take responsibility for his actions & do the best we can do to put right all the damage that has been done. WE ARE ALL EQUAL - NO MATTER WHAT THE DIFFERENCES - WHAT GIVES US THE RIGHT TO JUDGE & PLACE OURSELVES AS SUPERIOR?

I couldn't watch it all the way through. When it came to the pig's tail docking, I had to go away. I know this is all happening. I want to go vegan. But my parents are brain washed and think that I'm going to die that way.

This is a unbelievably powerful movie. It made me sick, but I was able to watch the entire thing. WE live in a world full of unneccessary cruilty and pain. Why some feel it is alright to torture innocent animals is beyond me. Tdday I bought a leather belt without thinking of were it came from or even thinking at all. I only hope that in the future my actions are more thoughfull after seeing this movie.

I am not sure that I agree with the movies portrayal of zoos though. After reading "The Life of Pi" my view of zoos was changed quite a bit. They may not be the evil everyone thinks they are. Has anyone else here read the book and seen this movie?

I've seen this and it's shocking. People who can't watch this are simply in denial and prefer to belive that people are not cruel and meat they eat is healthy and they need this. This is the biggest lie ever.
