Gig economy profits are mostly going to wealthy executives.

Thank Freya,

I like David Cay Johnston. This is the most cynical interview I read/heard from him, though. He takes a chunk out Bernie and Trump hides, but mostly Bernie. He is a man with a lot of smarts/talent. I've seen him on Democracy now, Moyer, Ed Schultz, PBS, loads of interviews on Youtube, etc...etc.......he's a registered republican but I feel he would except a position in a Sanders administration if asked....even after what he said about Bernie. Johnston wants to help the working class people and he wants a REAL (fair) system of taxation...closing loopholes and shutting down the tax havens here and abroad, BUT nobody is asking him to join their team. Slump even threatened him.

I am one in a million that hates uber and airbnb. It doesn't matter because I can't afford to go anywhere or stay anywhere. But if I did have money I am using cabs and limos and staying in hotels.

Noted. Thanks, Freya.
I believe he's wrong about Bernie not being capable of making any change. I found that laughable. He is heading up a movement that will take off on its own----recently read an article explaining how there is a 50-state plan and many, many people working to elect true Progressives. This can't be done instantly, but it is a work in progress.
I do believe he's right on campaign financing---it is at the bottom of everything wrong in politics and Congress. We must have publicly financed campaigns, and end the revolving door of lobbyists as well. As long as Big Money is funding campaigns, nothing of any significance can get done for the majority of U.S. citizens.

Hi Lois, I've noticed for a while now in many of your comments you mention Citizens United, Federally Funded Elections and Campaign Finance Reform...(and I'd add FEC Reform). Well, I am with you one-hundred percent! Imo, they are the most important issues, they are like corner stones, foundations from which all the other corruption is built upon - layer by layer. CU may be more insidious than imagined, I hope to have more to say about it in a future post. I never know when a post (long or short) will manifest, just that one wants to...

As for Johnston, he's spot on about government directly helping big business push down the cost of labor etc..etc.. however, I've never heard him attack anyone like he did to Sanders in this article. He's usually calm, on point, and not personal....he's criticized both sides for many years........strange?

If I were given the task of reforming US Tax Law/Code (all 70,000 pages of it) I'd want Johnston on my team.
