The Svalbard Global Seed Vault opened nearly a decade ago after a year of construction. The vault protects food crops in case of an emergency of cataclysmic proportions.

I recall reading about this a few years back and thinking to myself that we could very well kill ourselves off and perhaps there will be a few humans around the world that might recall this place and start all over again, if it is something they can get into. Who knows if the one who has the key will live.

In any case with all that is going on, it also occurred to me that perhaps it's the 1% plan to save the seeds for themselves, because with all this Monsanto crap we are already having less and less choices on our foods. With the Monsanto seeds, the seeds will not reproduce from the plant like in the past, so maybe it eventually will stop selling the world's people seeds - if they do not go along with Monsanto on some issue.

Your Country is just cut off and cause massive starvation in that Nation or many Nations or all of us so that only the 1% are able to remain alive. I hate to think like that but looking at the evilness in the world who is to say it isn't for the 1%.

These seeds were not suppose to be tapped into for a long time down the road, but I read an article not too long ago where they already had to tap into this vault because we humans have already wiped out a particular plant. So in the short run, grateful to this vault.

I Individuals can actually donate to the Global Seed Vault, which takes private donations.
On average it costs just $ 625 in US Dollars to conserve a single crop variety in an
international collection.
If anyone is interested in donating the website, along with a lot of info on the project can be found at the
below website :
