A new "smart highway" being developed in the Netherlands has lane lines made by lights that can be altered and even lights up a warning when it gets icy

Why Can't We Have Glow-in-the-Dark Highways Like the Netherlands?

I guess it comes after the signes that warn that you are dring to fast. Makes sense in a small but densly populated country, but I hope this means they can elliminate the stop lights on the entrance ramps to highways.

This is a great idea. We have the technology to create something like this here, and it would be so massive as to create jobs for at least 2 generations as we upgrade our surface roads and our highways.

This could lead to much bigger things for ourselves and our children and grandchildren.

This is certainly neat, I always think we should have reflective lines on our highways, there are so many roads that really are not clear at night due to no lightening and what about bicycle lanes, why don't we make the current ones more reflective so nighttime drivers and bad weather days have no excuse for riding over on them.
