An inspiring story - hope it helps us all take action to help little ones
When he realized that the survivors of what had became known as the “Czech Kindertransport” were surrounding him in the audience, Winton was understandably shocked and speechless.

Wonderful story Barbell--goes to show there was quite a few beautiful souls who risked their lives to help those who certainly would've been murdered otherwise. There's also this incredible story of a portuguese diplomat who did the very same+more...

Yes Barbell. This incredible diplomats name is Aristides de Sousa Mendes+he's responsible 4 giving out thousands of Visas to Jewish people+in the process saved well over 15,00 jews. He's story is really quite fascinating as the Portuguese government denounced him+he lived in sheer poverty until the day he died. Only now after all these years is he being honoured+a statue erected in his memory. He was truly a remarkable man.

what a great thing he did all those years his reaction - he had no idea what had become of the "children" so it was to see he was acknowledged in this special way. It's way too easy to overlook or worse yet forget these miracles and feats that came about as a result of WWII......thanks BarBell for keeping it front and centre in our collective memory....
