Noted & signed. There is a good chance that this man is innocent. The State must be 100% sure of someone's guilt before punishing him for a crime. In this case, the State is planning to take his life -- thus committing the same crime they are accusing him of.

BarbCat - AMEN!! Seems like the justice systems all over the planet only cater for the rich - very sad. May we see success - one innocent life is ONE TOO MANY!!! Yes, the death penalty should be abolished totally and yes, it's time those involved in the judicial system should face the same 'penalty' if anyone is proven innocent too late to save that life!

In a forward to one of her books I read thisopinion made by Ann Rule, "I would be 100% against the death penalty if I could be guaranteed that no murderer would ever see the light of day." I share this thought but in the case of Troy Davis, the evidence doesn't prove his guilt 100% and therefore, he should receive a new trial or be set free.. At the very least the evidence should be reviewed thoroughly before a FINAL decision is made which is to put this man to death. I certainly hope Georgia is NOT in competition with Texas!

Troy is EVERBODYS brother, for we are all at the mercy of a very flawed judicial system.
Noted, petitions signed and fb, shared, and a handwritten letter sent to the parole board, which I think anyone committed to this should do.
Change.org has almost 82,000 signatures, nut imagine if those were all letters being dumped in their laps! One yo the governor wouldn't hurt either.

Thank you. Signed. I think that the death penalty is barbaric and brutal, and has no place in a modern, supposedly sophisticated society. America's bulging jails proves it is no deterrent to criminals. Too many vulnerable people are killed this way in America. To execute this man would be a tragedy.

Signed along with most on Jelica's list, plus some forwarded to me form friends and family outside the country. Troy Davis has truly become a world wide rallying call for justice and humanity. Once executed there is no turning back. You can't say "Sorry, we made a mistake." and restore life. Do the right thing and commute the sentence. Then Troy Davis can appeal the conviction. With this many doubts, his life has already been turned upside down with 20 years in prison. Let's not add to this miscarriage of justice. To the GA Board of Pardons and Parole, prove that you are not barbarians!

From Change.org:

Delivering 200,000+ Signatures for Troy Davis

"Kim Davis, Troy's sister, came to Change.org and started a petition asking the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles to save her brother's life at a clemency hearing set for September 19 - two days before his scheduled execution. In just a few days, more than 200,000 people joined the campaign, voicing their support for Kim and Troy.

At a press conference taking place tomorrow morning, Amnesty International and the NAACP, two organizations that have been working hard to stop Troy Davis' execution for years, will be adding the signatures collected by Kim's Change.org petition to their own successful petitions and presenting them to the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles.

Where: Georgia Board of Paroles and Pardons, 2 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, SE Suite 458, Balcony Level, East Tower, Atlanta, Georgia 30334 When: 10:30 AM tomorrow (Thursday, September 15)"

Democracy Now! devoted two-thirds of Friday's show to Troy Davis:

Over 500,000 Sign Petition to Stop Georgia Execution of Troy Davis : Yesterday, supporters delivered a petition containing more than half a million signatures to a state parole board in support of clemency for Davis. We speak with Benjamin Jealous, president and CEO of NAACP, a leading organization in the campaign to stop Davis’s execution. "It’s been activism that has kept Troy alive to this point," Jealous says. (Thousands of people who believe the state of Georgia is about to execute an innocent man are rallying behind the high-profile death row inmate Troy Anthony Davis. Davis was convicted of the 1989 killing of an off-duty Savannah police officer, Mark MacPhail, but has always maintained his innocence. His case has become a focal point for anti-death penalty activists in the United States and abroad, attracting supporters such as Pope Benedict XVI, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and former U.S. President Jimmy Carter.)

Troy Davis’s Sister: "The Fight for Troy Has Brought Us a Whole New Family All Over the World" : The campaign to stop the Sept. 21 execution of death row prisoner Troy Davis has been led by his sister, Martina Correia, who herself is fighting for her life in a bout with cancer. We’re joined by Troy Davis’s other sister, Kimberly Davis, from Savannah to talk about the global day of action to save her brother. "Even though Martina is sick now in the hospital, she is still fighting from her hospital bed," Davis says. "We’re not only fighting for justice for Troy; we’re fighting for the Troy Davises that came before him, for the Troy Davises that are going to come after him."

Signed all the petitions listed by Jelica R (with the exception of those intended for U.S. residents only).

With death penalty and other human rights cases I am never sure if adding a comment can do more harm than good (if they are considered inappropriate).

In a few cases, I added the comment: "A person should be innocent until proven guilty. There have been a lot of cases in the United States of America in which people have been executed but later proven innocent by more modern forensic technology. The death penalty is irreversible. Based on my experience with being a victim of bullying at school in Australia, I have no trust in authorities. The United States of America is in no position to tell other countries what is right and wrong given their history of genocide against Native Americans and numerous problems with their "justice" system. I returned to my country of origin in 1992. Croatia abolished the death penalty when it became independent of Yugoslavia in 1990."

Maybe I have been living under a rock, or maybe it is because I don't normally look at articles which are non-animal related, but I had no idea what this man was supposed to have done, the petition doesn't say anything constructive which is stupid. But I read the first two paragraphs on Wikipedia and am going to assume that it is a set up.

People should realise that others cant always be bothered to look it up, they just click away, which is a dangerous game to play when a life is at stake.

Signed and noted, thanks Carole.

Signed many of the ones on Jelica's list also, some of which seem much more informative, thanks Jelica.

Sorry Elizabeth, I thanked the wrong person, I think I saw Carole's name running through the comments and made the wrong assumption.

Board of Pardons & Paroles will hold a final clemency hearing on Monday, Sep 19, – a final chance to prevent Troy Davis from being executed. This is Troy Davis's last chance.

Remember:
- 0 physical evidence
- 6 witnesses have recanted their testimonies
- 7 out of 9 witnesses say another committed the murder
There are so many additional doubts around Troy's case. Executing him would be a horrendous and irreversible act of injustice.

HUMANS MURDERING ANIMALS. HUMANS MURDERING HUMANS. HUMANS KILLING THE ENVIRONMENTS. HUMANS MURDERING TROY BECAUSE they said he murdered a man.

Those who killed troy and all those involved, are now murderers!!

In England, I learnt when I was in school as a child that the last person who was killed by the governement was innocent.

A man who was a proven criminal in history, was given a job as one of the head of security.

The government cry for justice, but what is justice and BY whose standards are we all judged to such a severe degree as to cause death on an individuals life?

Those who killed Troy, are murderers. I wonder what they will say in many many many years to come...even perhaps after our time on earth... will they say the same thing about that poor UK prisoner who was killed by the UK governement...ooopps sorry we hung the wrong man.

The governments say they listen to the people. I think the worlds governments have selective hearing. All those people petitioning, campaigning, who listened?

RIP Troy, and all those who lost their lives due to man most unkind and most unjust to the extreme of stealing your life. They say 'it is wrong to steal,' but we are sorry that they stole your life. RIP and may your family and friends find peace some day.

Wish I had seen this in time to sign. I heard about this on the news and was hoping for a miracle for Troy. These states don't often change their minds and can't seem to wait to kill people. I think this was a legalized murder. This needs to stop.
