Dear Friends of the Kitties

You are the Directors of the saga of Puffy Paws Kitty Haven right now.

What you do tonight will decide the fate of the Special Need Kitties under our care.

It is getting very hard to raise $250 dollars a day for the kitties daily needs with no money left over for paying the necessary operating expenses ?

We need to raise a $100 for the rest of the supplies today also.

As you know , vet care, feeding the kitties and their daily needs always have come first.

Some how by your love and the grace of God we do it, but we fall short in getting the funds needed in paying the bills so that the door will remain open.

We are always late and behind.

The consequences of not paying these bills means that we can not take care of the kitties and how can we keep the doors open if we all fail ?

Right now the stress is unbearable knowing that on Tuesday we will be locked out of the Thrift Shop if we do not come up with $467.00 for the past due Thrift Shop rent.

The internet will be turned off on Tuesday if we do not come up with $222.

Without the ability to raise the money needed by the The Thrift Shop and Internet we will be put in a situations that for years we have tried to avoid.

We can not go on with out your help

Chrissy and I are good people.

We do not take from the cats so we may benefit.

We have given up our lives in taking care of these cats that no on wanted.

We are the true "Under-Dogs" or " Under -Cats ".

While thousands of cats die locally in other Shelters, which the public never knows that exact numbers and while most Animal Rescue Groups in the area have no problems in raising funds in the name of the animals and than turning around and paying themselves a very handsome salary.

We struggle in doing the right thing for these Special Need kitties.

Why ? We can not figure this one out.

It's another day here at Puffy Paws.

We are in big trouble if we do not meet our goal in raising funds for past due operating expenses.

Here is what you can do toady.

We have around 200 people opening our pleas and updates.

If each and everyone of you can donate $10 bucks

each than we can make it ,with funds left over for the kitties worming meds which we need to get

once again.

Donate if you can can but most of all "Share",

Ask your friends to donate $10 bucks to keeping the doors open here at Puffy Paws.

We need your help today and we all are in this together !

Please Help.If you can...

From the bottom of our hearts

Rick & Chrissy & Da Kitties

Some good things are in the works for Puffy Paws but it takes so much time to get all the pieces into place and approved and up and running! One last piece to get Missionfish up and running so that the collectibles can make more money on ebay with no fees for Puffy Paws...one last step to go live on Petsfinder to get the adoptable kitties homes and to apply for a pet medicine grant...Denise is working on the junk car collection program and on the cell phone/ink cartridge recycling program...they are just trying to hold on to get some help in place.

I will check the chipin page and let you know. Yesterday there was $856 donated!! That was huge because their internet was past due and it is so important and the thrift shop rent. Those are the two main ways to get funding to stay open for them. I'm sure Maria will update too.

Great things in the works to get some help for Puffy Paws! Today we got everything set up and ready for 2 different adoption events on March 26th so 6 lucky kitties have a great chance for a new home next week!

Mad Chad, baby Nibbles, Munchkin, Tiffany, Moo Moo and Big Nibbles are all packed and ready to go find their new family. Mike's Pet Shop is hosting an adoption event and Royal Palm Marina that is hosting a fishing event for over 100 kids and their families and two Puffy Paws Kitties were invited.

Check out the World's Greatest Cathouse facebook page for the kitties stories and daily updates on all the new things getting set up by "Team Puffy Paws" to keep this haven open!

I couldn't get the link up either. I went to the web site and am somewht concerned. Is this a legitamate rescue or a glorified hoarding situation? I did think the cats in the video and what you could see of the home looked clean and healthy, but I would like more reassurance before I donate.Anyone know them personally?

Kristina B. (6)
Wednesday March 9, 2011, 3:13 pm
Is this the link you are going to: http://www.puffypawskittyhaven.com/ ? This is their website. @ Karen, my mom is the person who took the videos of the kitties. She donates her time to film them as a community service. All of the video kitties are special needs kitties with various issues such as Feline Leukemia, diabetes, or those taken from abuse situations. The haven is extremely clean and Puffy Paws has had several news crews and reporters out to the site and always gets complimented on how clean it is and how much love there is for the kitties. You can watch their videos on YouTube or through facebook posts. Chrissy is the one who cares for the kitties full time. I just talked with her today to set up two adoption events for March 26th. They are legitimate non-profit since 2006, all registered with Florida; they use the Loving Care Animal hospital in Englewood as the vet who comes out to the Haven and they also take kitties in. Their issue is lack of community support and funds. I hope this helps! I chose Puffy Paws as my personal service project for 2011 and I'm coordinating getting their adoption program up and running again and getting them set up on Petsfinder, Missionfish & coordinating various funding and grant projects for them so that they won't be struggling so much in the future. Feel free to e-mail me if you have other questions :-)

Yes, Kristina, thanks for the info. I'm afraid I've seen a lot of mis0use of the term rescue and I tend to be skeptical when someone hangs a shingle advertising "rescue". I do appreciate your info. and am glad to know they are providing a needed service to "special" cats!!!!

i search and buy on igive, goodsearch and iwon almost every day. we can make a difference if everyone commits. i just can't imagine that the thrift store makes enough money to justify the rent. as soon as missionfish is up and running, they should let the thrift store go. doesn't englewood allow garage sales a few times a year? and i did some quick math on the litter amount. $120 per day seems like alot. if they switch to scoopable and just top off throughout the month, it should only cost about $40 per day. maybe i misunderstood and they meant $120 per week. or maybe they have more cats than i recall. i think it's worth looking into. i have 20+ cats, so i know what i'm talking about. i was also thinking that after christmas next year, people should send puffy paws one of their unwanted giftcards and someone can exchange them for petco/petsmart/walmart/target cards on plastic jungle.

I understand, Rick always says, "know where your donations go" on the facebook page! Puffy Paws used to take both healthy and special needs kitties. They have retired their adoptable program in January due to declining donations in the community and skyrocketing costs for everything and decided to focus only on special needs kitty hospice care in the future. Right now, my work is to find homes for the adoptables that were still there and to find special homes for the kitties who can be adopted, but only in certain situations like to a family with other FIV cats or to a family willing to commit to only having one pet. I'm open to any & all ideas for how to get the adoptable kitties into their new forever homes!

Their needs and how to help:
Puffy Paws Kitty Haven needs help this Holiday weekend in feeding the 268 Special Need & Unwanted kitties under their care

Englewood, Florida’s “World’s Greatest Cathouse,“ Puffy Paws Kitty Haven is a 501(c) (3) non-profit, no-kill cat hospice specializing in providing quality and loving care to special needs cats.

They care for kitties with feline leukemia, FIV, blind kitties, feral cats, epileptic kitties, kitties with only one eye, senior kitties, kitties that do not use their litter box, kitties with thyroid conditions and more - basically unwanted and unadoptable kitties that would be euthanized elsewhere.”

This is the link, guys:

http://puffypawskittyhaven.com/

This link just worked for me with NO problems or hitches!

Maria Elena & Kristina:
I have just donated $50 on their site, the one the link goes to - not much in view of the vast sums they need, but maybe if more people were willing to give even as much they might be able to tick over until their situation eases and things brighten up. I sincerely and truly hope so! Special needs cats do mean extra work AND expense (I know this from my personal experience) but we cannot abandon animals just because they are not "pristine" or "pedigree cats".

Wednesday March 9, 2011, 5:59 pm
thanks so much to maria elena and kristina i did just join the care2 group. and i was under the impression they had about half as many kitties. can you get them into the animal rescue site contest? maybe we can appeal to drug companies for assistance. i have a diabetic dog that goes through a $50 vial of insulin every three weeks. their medical bills must be crazy. i hope they know they can buy fish meds online with no prescription. exact same ingredients but you have to modify the dose, and know which meds are best for which conditions. maybe they have a good vet that doesn't charge them office visits. i hope so.

Noted. What is a mystery to me is that surely they have a dedicated following of supporters in their area. Why have they not gotten together and had a fundraiser for them ? That would be one of the best things they could do .Getting businesses to donate prizes that they could sell raffle tickets for, auctions od different kinds of donated items. there are options here that aren't being done.I wish them all the best. They need all the help they can get.

I will pray for Puffy Paws that there is an outpouring of love and support to sustain Puffy Paws in both the short term and in the long term. I pray that strong fundraisers will step forward with ideas to find funding to ease the stress of operating costs. Once there is a secure sense that funding is solid Puffy Paws can rest at ease. Thanks for posting this, and thanks to everyone who is supporting or contributing in any way, even through volunteering.
