PLEASE HELP AND XPOST!
The cold ugly truth hurts. If I fail in raising the funds for the FPL bill a whole Cat Hospice will be wiped out and only painful and sad stories will be told because we as "Kitty lovers' could not round up the World Wide awareness and financial help these beautiful cats deserve. 3 weeks ago i was so powerless in getting the power turned back on. I have seen what will happen with my own eyes. We can not let this happen.

PLEASE PASS IT ON AFTER YOU READ IT

THE WORLD"S GREATEST CATHOUSE

Englewood, Florida's "World's Greatest Cathouse," Puffy Paws Kitty Haven is a 501(c) (3) non-profit, no-kill cat hospice specializing in providing quality and loving care to 230 special needs cats.

It is run by Rick & Chrissy Kingston. All the kitties live with them in their residential home.

They care for kitties with feline leukemia, FIV, blind kitties, feral cats, epileptic kitties, kitties with only one eye, senior kitties, kitties that do not use their litter box, kitties with thyroid conditions and more special need cases.

Puffy Paws have 100 adoptable kitties that need homes.

Puffy Paws serves a unique need as a hospice for special needs kitties, that would be euthanized elsewhere.

With declining donations and increasing costs, the mighty Cathouse is in danger of closing this week because they are behind on the Florida Power and Lights Power Bill and other operating expenses.

Florida Power and lights have and will turn the power off in the unbearable Florida heat and temperature will go over 90 degrees in a mater of hours in the Haven.

Now FPL is demanding payment.

$2570 is owed as of this writing.

The kitties can not survive in the unbearable Florida heat without AC.

If this happens to Puffy Paws the only humane choice will to call for help from outside agencies.

If this happens the fate of the special need kitties will surely be death at the hands of others.

230 special needs kitties lives are at sake right now.

The survival of the kitties at Puffy Paws Kitty Haven depends upon the kind hearts of the kitties lovers from all over the World.

Here is the situation and why they are in it.

Each and everyday they have to raise $250 for the kitties daily needs.

Puffy Paws does this by asking for help from their donors and kitty lovers from the social networks such as facebook and Care2 and they rasie funds that come in through thier Thrift Shop.

No one at Puffy Paws gets paid or takes a salary.

All funds that come in are used to pay for the kitties daily needs and Vet care and what is left over they struggle to pay the operating expenses.

The 230 kitties at Puffy Paws Use Everyday

WET CAT FOOD * Friskies - 13 oz Cans - Turkey Dinner - 4 cases $67.20

DRY CAT FOOD Publixs Dry Food - Two 18 pound bag - $23.98

TIDY CAT LITTER - 22 bags / 660 pounds a day - $120.00

SUPPLIES - Bleach,, Paper Towels, Garbage Bags - $25.00

They need to get a least a couple weeks ahead this week with the funds for the kitties daily immedially.

FLORIDA POWER & LIGHTS

Puffy Paws has two AC units at the Haven.

One is an old one and one is a new one that was put in two years ago and was sub-par for the Haven. This is why are bills are high.

Puffy Paws failed to raise the $1269 that was needed to pay FPL ( Florida Power & Lights ) ,on April 22nd , for the electric that was used since Jan 1, 2011.

Florida Power and Lights demanded a deposit of $1301 they could not cover also.

In total Puffy Paws owes Florida Power and lights $2570.

A final disconnection notice was received.

If Puffy Paws does not pay them immediately FPL will be send their crew and truck to turn the power of at the pole

When the power goes off and there is no AC, temps will raise into the nineties in a very short amount of time in the Haven.

FPL already shut the power off at the pole three weeks ago, it was a cool day and temps got up to 78- 80 degrees.

It took FPL four hours to get it turned back on, after they gave them a deposit check for $1300 to open a new account.

Which was not covered because of the cost of the daily needs in taking care of the kitties.

Now FPL is demanding payment.

The kitties can not survive in the unbearable Florida heat today without AC.

As was stated : If this happens to Puffy Paws the only humane choice will to call for help from outside agencies.

If this happens the fate of the special need kitties will surely be death at the hands of others.

When you click to go to the PayPal site, it automatically has $1 in the total, everyone who is sitting on a computer can afford $1 if not more.

Sleep better tonight knowing that you may help 230 wake up tomorrow, just donate a small amount rather than say you can't, it all adds up.

Here is a link direct to the normal site, I prefer to donate through a link I have used before and trust. You will see the PayPal donate button if you scroll down slightly and look to the left.

Thanks for spreading the word Maria.
I regularly donate a couple of times a month and am distressed that they get so little support. So sad that Rick has to beg almost daily for money to survive the day, and Chrissy is always struggling. Although a lot of people have very little money, it becomes a matter how that money is prioritized. Even one or two dollars multplied a hundreds of supporters would change things.

We cannot let this shelter close down because innocent animals will die! Rick & Chrissy donate their time, what a huge sacrifice! If we all can afford internet to be here on Care2, then we all can afford a few $'s to donate, this will not break no one! Surely think as a feel good to help those less fortunate! Outflow- inflow, this is the law of Karma!

I totally agree Henriette, these animals are not asking for much, this topic has been noted 149 times, if each of those people would have donated $1, Puffy Paws would now have $149 which would be a tremendous help.

Please don't write 'noted', please write 'noted, $1 donated'.

Thanks

Actions speaks louder then words here! What is the right action here if you know that without your help these kitties will die! Open up your hearts as much as your mouths & contribute a $ for these kitties. Sweet comments does not fill a hungry stomach! You are animal lovers here, prove it by a $ donation. Outflow = Inflow! The law of KARMA! Thanks to those who opened their hearts & donated! I sent green star to you in appreciation on behalf of all the kitties at PuffyPaws Kittyhaven!

MUst be something we can all do to raise some funds? ANY COMMUNITY GRANTS? IS THERE A RECREATION CENTER IN THE AREA? MEET & GREETS? Can the community meet at the local park and each bring a bag of kitty food to help out?
Got to happen at the local level. Please everybody, donate.

i did gather all the info and filled out an emergency grant form from spca international. problem is that it takes weeks to process. we should all rally to get them over this hurdle, but these guys are going to have to make some sort of drastic change. every shelter has to find a source of reliable income. i'll go check and see if they have the mission fish ebay site up and running. i'll post it if i find it.

Just donated USD$10 and I am a dirt poor aussie. Allison and Henriette are right: if we are paying for internet access we can afford a few dollars to help a worthy animal cause, and no donation is too small. We can all make a difference! Thanks to EVERYONE...I know we make a difference, we already have avoided disaster for them a few times. I just want to let you know that, although in my heart I am part of them, they are in Fl, I in Seattle (most of the time), so I took it upon me to spread the word to help these poor kitties and their caretakers. They constantly struggle, as their whole time is dedicated to the physical care of the kitties, they do have a thrift shop, but the bills and necessities are a constant flow. They have a page for monthly pledges starting at 1 dollar...if they could keep the flow they would succeed. They have helpers here and there, but the search AND filling out of applications is something they don´t do, due to lack of physical time and probably the knowhow, so it is us, all of us that need to pitch in those applications and community grants, and all those benefits we know of or we come accross, we can be the ones to fill those out with their info, which we all have. Peace and love to all, thank you, and let´s all work for them wherever we can!

My wonderful friends of c2, I copied this just now:
FPL Update: We are not safe from disconnection. FPL can come out at any time and discontent the power which will be tragic. However FPL is willing to work with us along as we pay off the $1301 ASAP.

I just paid FPL $402 dollars. This leaves a balance of $899. We must raise this today to secure the future for the kitties.

FPL told me... once the $899 is paid call them and the $1189 that is due today will be broken up in 6 monthly payments of around $200, due prior to the our regular monthly FPL bill.

You may help directly by paying FPL. Our FPL account number is 5949519424. The account is under Christine Anne Kingston. The address is 270 Lakeview Lane, Englewood Florida, 34223. FPL partners with Western Union® Speedpay® to provide an easy way to pay a portion of the FPL bill using your credit or debit card.

Thank You all for being here in our time of need. PLEASE SHARESee More

This is sad news and since the resession, many people dump their animals at shelters. It is hard to keep these shelters going and help all the abandoned animals. I see this is also happening in South Africa. Now you all know why I have 32 dogs on my premises. I pick them up in the street and can not take them to a shelter.
