as you may,or may not know, our beloved cat Kismet~Kizzy was ill and died on Dec. 10th , 2011.

the story: my husband and i wanted to adopt a cat from a shelter after relocating to the east coast... we brought our cat of 12 years with us but he got sick and so we peacefully and lovingly let him cross over the Rainbow Bridge ... well my husband wanted another cat ... i was too upset ... but we went to the shelter and as we walked by each cage i just cringed... all too sad for me... i wanted them all right there and then ... my husband stopped at this one cage... and looked quietly at this little fur ball huddled at the back ... hiding ... he asked if they would open the cage door and as soon as that happened...well this 'youngster' of about 7 or 8 months approached him and stood up on his hind legs and put his paws around my husband's neck ... we all 'melted' right there and then ... and our new little love so afraid of everyone and everything we later found out ... let us know he had in fact 'chosen' us to be his lifelong family. i named him Kismet because it was Destiny ... but his nickname is kizzy !

costs to take care of him exceeded $300. which we paid in full.

recently i rescued a cat ( 1 of 4 ) that i have been taking care of in the park since last May. she was sick and not eating, and a snow storm had just come through, so i made the decision to bring her into our home and adopt her.

her name is Plummie and she needs to be spayed and have some tests done to determine the status of her health.

Plumka now called Plummie was one of the abandoned cats in the park that I offered to feed as of May 2011. Feb. 2012 after a snow storm I noticed she would not eat and did not look well so I brought her into our home ( 1 bedroom apt. ) to adopt her. This Friday we will be taking her to the Veterinarian to have her spayed, blood work done and a full check up b/c she was sick. ( worried about her respiratory system ). So far she is a quiet sweet loving cat or 'kitteh' as Trish refers to cats! She loves to explore and cuddle and I pray we have done the right thing by adopting her and bringing her inside. No more tree climbing but we will substitute with fun elements when we can afford them. Maria Elena Gozales said it best in a recent message: " I am so sorry for your loss...there's nothing sadder than losing a dear friend. It touches my heart that when a door closes (Kizmet-Kizzie), another one opens (for Plummie)."

my husband is the sole provider in our household since my accident in 2006, the year i joined Care2.

you may, or may not know that i have never asked for any financial help since i joined 5 years ago.

but in this situation i just need some help to care for this precious cat who i'm told has been abandoned for the past 3-4 years in the park. Sadly that is what people do in our area, just 'toss' their unwanted pets out on the street!

i have set up a paypal account if you feel you would like to help me take care of Plummie's vet services.

you can donate any amount to

Please know your caring and sharing with me to help her is appreciated and i thank you with all my heart.

if you need a copy or 'receipt' i could arrange that with you.

Also please share my request with your friends. Thank you.

Please know also that i respect and fully understand if you cannot help financially and that all you offer in our world is honored by me with gratitude.

It's true, when one door closes another door opens!

Kismet~Kizzy's photo album is here on Care2

Plummie's photo album is also here

Peace & Love always, your friend and cyber sis rosemary

nice of you, maria. i know the spay cannot be avoided, but a uri can be cured with otc fish or bird antibiotics. you can even get these on ebay. you just have to do a little homework or ask someone who knows meds.

Cathy...this is for Rosemary, it's done...she needs help to pay the vet bill...Re antibiotics, at least here in Wa, there are mexican stores that carry amoxicillin...better results than the fish meds, a 500 mg pill covers 5 days for a kitty

Dear Maria Elena i am overwhelmed by your compassionate heart.
I had no idea you had posted my 'story' for Plummie into your sharebook and tonight i see you have posted it to C2NN.
I am amazed and so thankful for you in my life my cyber sis, and so grateful to you for wanting to help us in this way, for Plummie.
This precious little kitty soul has suffered in the park, tossed away like garbage by someone, and over the months of just caring for her in the park have gotten to see her gentle nature.
On the day I brought her home, she was sick. I sat on a log holding her in my arms and then put her in her bin, but she only went in halfway.
I said: Plummie please tell me what can i do for you. Do you want to come home with me? Tell me. Talk to me. (Rosi Caswell my Care2 friend who calls herself the animal whisperer for very good reason, had helped me with Kismet~Kizzy when he was sick.)
Well, Plummie let me know that she wanted to come with me because she backed out of her bin and turned around and came up on my arm.
End of story, she now has her forever home with us, safe and loving... her new beginning.
Thank you Maria Elena for appreciating what it really means to love a cat !
My love right back to you always and from Plummie too xx =^.^=

I just wanted to say to our Care2 friends here that I understand going through difficult times and I don't want anyone to feel badly because funds are limited. Sharing my story or just the link would be appreciated so much.

My dear friend Dandelion gave me a 101 on how to post links to C2NN ... so here it is for anyone interested Donate for Plummie on PayPal

To my dear friend/cyber sis Mm you know i would never ask you and i'm sending prayers for you everyday with my love & Light.

Thank you to those who have offered suggestions and i know that we all care about our animal relations.
... we are 'family' ...

Noted. Thanks Maria for trying to look out for Rosemary. Well girls I had to post this on Face Book. More people see the better. This was my comment. OK. Now Rosemary you know I love you so don't .........anything but happy. OK. 'This dear lady needs a little help to pay for the vet bill for a cat she has saved. Please if you can. Thank you.' Hugs.

Maria, Thank you so much for doing this for our always loving and compassionate Rosemary!
I thought about trying to do this myself, but since the original letter was private and no doubt hard enough, i was just concentrating on how i could scrape up some more money...because we are family :-)

And i to am strapped, living on disability, fostering dogs, and my own car has been broken down since last July, so i know where alot of you are coming from...

But PayPal will let you send as little as $1, so if everyone could just do that it would be a help...Please.
If ever there was a deserving care2 member, it is our Rosemary and her Plummie...1love

Well at this moment I see 17 comments so at a dollar a piece....that would be $17 more towards her cause.

Common people now, smoke one less pact of cigarettes, drink one less bottle of beer, buy one less can of soda......HELP THIS LADY OUT!

WE are supposedly on Care2 to make a difference and to fight for the rights of animals everywhere - but then when a person like RoseMary actually rescues a cat from the darkness and chill of the night were she has been homeless for years, eating out of garbage cans or whatever people might toss its was.....NOBODY wants to dig in their pockets for a little change and throw her way to help her with the Vet bills after she rescues this cat from it's life living in an alley, fending for itself every day. THIS is a cat that otherwise would have been PUT DOWN at the shelter and RoseMary rescued the cats life from the hands of Animal Control before they were to take the cat into their custody. Rosemary did not have the money to provide for the cat that she just took in but did not want to see it's tiny life put down because people are so cruel and just toss their animals out to the wind to defend for themselves rather than take the responsibility for their animals. We need to help RoseMary just as she has been so willing to help others here on care2 over the many years. This is supposed to be and Animal Loving CARING site......lets show that we are!

I will donated $50.00 to the cause Rosemary as I don't want to see the little tyke put down. I'm glad that WE were able to talk your other half into letting you bring the kitty out of the cold, rescue her and make her a loving extension of your family.

I know that if I can help RoseMary on my little bitty Disability Check.....You can too. SHOW some Care2 love after all, this is what Care2 is all about. NO AMOUNT OF MONEY IS TOO SMALL - JUST PLEASE HELP ROSEMARY OUT ..... AND LITTLE PLUMMIE GIRL TOO!

lOVE Ya, Rosemary

Cat in an empty apartment
Wislawa Szymborska, 1993

Die - you can't do that to a cat.
Since what can a cat do
in an empty apartment?
Climb the walls?
Rub up against the furniture?
Nothing seems different here,
but nothing is the same.
Nothing has been moved,
but there's more space.
And at nighttime no lamps are lit.
Footsteps on the staircase,
but they're new ones.
The hand that puts fish on the saucer
has changed, too.
Something doesn't start
at its usual time.
Something doesn't happen
as it should.
Someone was always, always here,
then suddenly disappeared
and stubbornly stays disappeared.
Every closet has been examined.
Every shelf has been explored.
Excavations under the carpet turned up nothing.
A commandment was even broken,
papers scattered everywhere.
What remains to be done.
Just sleep and wait.
Just wait till he turns up,
just let him show his face.
Will he ever get a lesson
on what not to do to a cat.
Sidle toward him
as if unwilling
and ever so slow
on visibly offended paws,
and no leaps or squeals at least to start.

First of all I want to send my heartfelt love and appreciation to Maria again for her ongoing love and support on behalf of myself and Plummie.
Maria your Elder's Meditation renewed my strength of spirit today dear friend.

Also my heartfelt love and appreciation to Dusty for standing up for me as my friend especially because she is very sick right now and having just had back surgery does not need any stress in her life !

And my heartfelt love and appreciation to Trish for also standing up for me as my friend.

To those who have just offered their " TY! Noted " or " Nice story. thanks " all i can say is I think you have missed the point of the 'story' which is that i have asked for your help. I refunded a friend yesterday because she gave when i knew she didn't have and i just couldn't accept her generosity. Did i cry about it - yes i did but not for myself! i cried because here is a true friend, someone who was so willing to help me even though it would be a hardship for her! I HONOR and RESPECT that level of friendship.

I have said I would never expect anyone who is not able to share with me financially to do so.
All I asked was if you have the means to share I would be truly grateful.
And if the best you can offer is to share my need to pay for Plummie's spaying surgery and tests then I Honor your effort on my behalf ... always with my love & Light.

Finally to my friends who have sent me personal messages of support and commented here, or on Elena's sharebook or in my sharebook about Plummie please know your love filters into the depths of my being !

We here on Care2 have the ability to help people out in many capacities. Some of us have the money to help.....while others do not! Other's have the ability to KNOW how to post stories, set up PayPal accounts and chip in's. ....and others do not! Some of us have a deep sence of Spirituality and offer their support by lifting up their prayers for our situation or lighting a candle and sending positive energy our way while others offer their support in comforting words and encouragement. But something that almost ALL OF US do have AND the ability to do - regardless of whether or not we have money, have computer skills, or have a Spiritual Connection is the ability to forward this and every other story onward to those on our friends list so that a need can be made known and so that others can help out with their special ability to do so. PLEASE people, if for some reason or in some way you were led to this story (or any story for that matter) do not just simply post a "Noted" or an "Out of Place" thank you....BECOME a part of what makes this Care2 Site work and that is the reaching out to help one another. Whether it be in big ways or in smaller all comes together to make this thing work and to keep the miracle alive. Don't just NOTE a story so you can get green stars, butterfly credits and recognition. IF you are that selfish....maybe Care2 isn't the place for you. Go to Facebook!

Ellen 1love my cyber sis and friend i apologize for not mentioning in my previous comment just how much your support means to me ... it means everything to me! Thank you for your compassion and understanding, for caring and sharing when in your own world you have much happening and Mirabelle and Lucy to take care of right now. Thank you with all my heart for being here for me and for so many others as you always are 1love.

Dusty shared something with me that I want to share with everyone. Call it a Life Lesson if you will.
I did not realize that I had 'expectations' because I never thought about it in terms like that. But I realize I do have expectations.
I want to apologize for offending anyone because that was never my intention.
Being frustrated over my personal situation, and worried will never be appropriate excuses for offending anyone.
Someone said to me the other day, it's not 'kosher' to ask for money on the web!
I thought I was just asking my friends, extended 'family' on Care2 if you will for help, that is all.
Sometimes I guess I think others may be 'like-minded' , compassionate ... but it is not always the case with everyone. I know that now. I should not have expectations from others to think as I do.

So Dusty you have all my respect and I honor you dearly for setting me straight tonight and showing me the way that will for me now and in the future be the best approach to take. And from now on when a friend offers from their heart I will graciously accept because that is who I used to be, that is who I want to be .
MUCH LOVE Dusty ! ( I needed a Big Sis to set me straight since my beloved twin sister Rowena passed on )

Rosemary...I have been through times of great poverty, where I would do the impossible to feed my animals where friends have helped me through...I have also been through times of great money where I have donated to organizations, and even people who where having their lights cuttoff otherwise, good $$ that went to where it had to, and I didn't expect it back and I have NO REGRETS, because it all comes and goes, and life even rhymes! Maria i appreciate your comment and your sentiments so much ... more than i can say actually!
I am sorry to know that you have known great poverty in your life Maria.

I too have shared the abundance that i was blessed with at a certain time in my life; however i have never known abject poverty, but my twin sister did all her adult life. i could never buy for myself and not for her and that's just the way it was! Sharing with her, with anyone in need was just a 'given' to me, it flowed freely then, just as it should be.

Trish thank you ... you are always too kind!
My Daddy/Papa would have LURVED YU!

Songbird i'm so sorry for the loss of your beloved Sammie.I will send healing prayers for you my cyber sis to ease the pain in your heart and spirit. I am here for you anytime you want to share because i do care & understand the heartache you are feeling.I also send prayers for peace & Blessings that will bring renewal!

Dear Marie, I read this heart-breaking story again for the 2nd time. I am SO sorry. You are such a wonderful person. I am so glad to have a friend like you! Rosemary is very lucky!
At first I did not see that you had a Paypal acct. set up for Plummie. I do have a Paypal acct. & I will be getting my disability check soon. I will see what I can do.

I lost my Simon due to a liver disease last November & I know how it feels to take care of a sick animal. It broke my heart to see him so sick.

Rosemary, you & Plummie are in my payers & I will see what I can do when I get my check.

Thank you for posting this Marie. You are a wonderful, caring person.

Dear friends:
Rosemary is a bit stressed, Plummies' update she just gave me: Plummie was rushed to the vet's today with a high fever. She contracted an infection and had to be put on antibiotics / IV and pain meds.
I myself have nothing to do with the paypal acct for Plummie, it's Rosemary, she's taking good care...let's wish Plummie gets well really soon.

Dear Friends, i wanted to share this update on Plummie with you and to thank all of you for caring & sharing.
Plummie's infection has been slowly improving thanks to the antibiotics and pain meds Dr. Stan gave her last Friday, March 2nd. Her incision from the spaying surgery is healing but will take 4-6 weeks for her to be fully healed. Plummie is eating more and becoming much more responsive. She is happy sleeping on our bed and wants to be right up on my pillow ... i 'caved' in and gave her some tummy and pillow time but will have to 'reset' the 'boundaries' !

Regarding Plummies PayPal Fund we are still just halfway and I desperately need your help until the full amount can be paid off. For those of you who require a receipt I will arrange that for you.

Here is the link again Donate for Plummie

Your help is truly appreciated. Peace & Love rosemary
