People have the right to know what they’re putting in their bodies. Stop fighting grassroots and legislative efforts to require the labeling of foods that contain genetically modified organisms.
Why is this important?

Coca-Cola is an international behemoth that sells its more than 500 brands in 200 countries across the globe – but it doesn’t want people to know what is in its products.

The company recently spent more than $1.5 million to defeat an initiative in Washington State that would have required food and drinks that contain genetically modified organisms sold in the state to be transparently labeled. Last year the company also spent more than $1.7 million to defeat a similar initiative in California.

Genetically modified organisms are showing up in more and more of the foods and drinks on our grocery store shelves, but adequate testing hasn’t yet been done and we still don’t know whether or not they’re safe to consume. Implementing mandatory GMO-labeling policies would assure full transparency and let us make informed decisions about what to put in our bodies and feed our children.

I would like to eat organic all of the time, but as a retiree on a fixed income, I have to make choices about what's on my grocery list. Having GMO labeling doesn't mean that I won't eat what's in the package. It simply gives me the option of choosing whether or not I want to consume it. The more education I have about the GMO's in my food, the healthier I will be.

Sadly, it isn’t just Coca-Cola we have to worry about. The Coca-Cola Company also owns “healthy” brands like Vitamin Water, Odwalla and Honest Tea – and it could be trying to hide genetically modified ingredients in those products as well.

People have the right to know what’s in the food we’re eating and the drinks we’re drinking. The Coca-Cola Company -- a massive public corporation that relies on people like you and me to earn its profits -- shouldn’t be trying to take that right away and keep us in the dark.

With a massive outcry of public opposition, we can show the Coca-Cola Company that fighting grassroots efforts to label foods that contain genetically modified organisms is bad for busines.

Sooner or later - with or without Coca Cola - labeling will happen. And the companies that keep fighting that will look even worse than they do now.

There is so much garbage spewed forth in our 'enlightened' times. -- Eat this, don't eat that, no sugar, no fat etc... I draw the line at unnatural GM food. -- But generally... If it tastes good, eat it, if it feels good, do it!... Be happy, live for today, you're a long time dead
