PETITION - Tell President Obama to Keep His Promise and Close Guantanamo NOW!

US Politics & Gov't  (tags: usa, guantanamo bay, torture, crimes against humanity, abuse, government, ethics )

- 1590 days ago -
Obama acknowledged last year that Guantánamo needs to close because in his words it's "inefficient," hurtful to our "international standing," and "should never have been opened" in the first place. -- Please sign petition to help secure justice at last.

Ben-maybe a thousand DOLLARS would-IF folks could get any readiness to donate a few bucks each to the tour.
I am more than disappointed to see how lame the fundraiser is crawling ther-only few more days..and far from that quite modest goal of just $ 2.500

"Why all the sympathy for these terrorists they were killing American soldiers " --- Innocent until proven guilty Alfred --- No trial, no conviction, no guilt --- These people have spent 12 years in jail because ignorant, brainwashed 'patriots' have decided they are 'terrorists' without any proof at all --- Enough!

nah, hell no. guantanamo should stay open. i know it's wrong, but it needs to exit. in this society with all it's marvels and electronics one genius or very well educated man can cause havoc worldwide. and hezbollah for example has a lot of them.
that 2006 war was a radio shack war. they twist the numbers here. but the real numbers are drastic. in reality islamic resistance numbers of casualty were almost nil. israel killed a bunch of civilians and hezbollah, clerks, nurses, social workers and average hezbollah guys manning missile or mortal launchers
while islamic resistance killed almost every israeli soldier killed. each one of those guys cost as much to train as any special forces guy in the world. they are as good or better than anybody. that war was skills and radio shack against the might of an incredibly powerful adversary with incredible training and equipment. once the idf reached the litany the west declared victory. we all remember our dear miss rice. in the middle of the night hezbollah rose out of the rubble with their toys. and we all know what happened then.
we will eventually have to deal with hezbollah. these are phoenicians, not arabs. and they're buddies with persians. islamic resistance brings them billions in earnings thru trafficing. they're spread all over the worlds underworld and their Multilingualism is legendary. israel created a monster that we will have to deal with. militants are evolving, they're becoming more sophisticated. we have to know everything. sorry guys. that just means we are going to all get more person to person contact. everything, everything on the air ways we have to now.
one blow can kill thousands or maybe millions, bring down an entire economy. affect them worldwide. so when we get our hands on some of them and their associate's we need a place as dark as they to keep them.
sorry folks, just my opinion.

i meant know and misplaced a spot there. i meant hezbollah clerks, social workers and nurses. because they were hezbollah so technically you can count towards hezbollah total loses.

It feels like I have been signing petitions to close that place for years and years now. How awful for those being unlawfully kept there without trial or even anything resembling due process. What a shameful thing for the former land of the free to do.

Telling Obama to close it means nothing. It's the House of Representatives who need to do it. They have to appropriate the money to do it. Obama wants to close it, but his hands are tied by the teabagging House. Get rid of the Republicans and Guantanamo is closed.

No-one should be kept without trial - that is behavior that we in the West expect from dictators, not from a democratically elected government, and it is to our eternal shame that this has ever happened.

We were sold a progressive candidate, but what we got was a moderate Republican president. Progressives have been sold down the river. I have not doubt that Gitmo will stay open until some future President and Congress does the right thing and shuts down that hell hole.
