It is sad that it has to come to this, again because of irresponsible owners. The ecosystem does not need any more help to decline and be damaged. I love snakes, had a couple myself, but smaller. But to have these snakes go where they should never be is so bad. That is the only reason I have signed the petition with my comment. If people could be more responsible it would not come to this.

ANY constrictor snake is not really a good pet.

1. The constrictors of all sizes always have rodents and mice as a food source when young, and larger mammals as they grow, and do not really even need a water source to survive, since they get moisture from food, and some constrictors have learned to hibernate in human dwellings and buildings in the winter, since they can go months on one good meal.

2. Constrictors of all sizes and types are prolific breeders and are oly really limited by their food supply, since there are no native predators that can take on the adult constrictors, and only eagles and a few hawks that can take the small constrictors.

3. Constrictors of every size are masters at hiding and ambush, and can even get into the drywall and small spaces, where they can hunt rodents and wait out cold spells.

If Science found a way to resurrect woolly mammoths, some nutty people would buy them for backyard pets. I am endlessly amazed at the Human species capacity for absolute destructive silliness. We think we are the smartest creatures on earth, but we cannot even control our own increase and by taking snakes and other species out of their natural habitats and then letting them go, we assure that these animals will overbreed and
poach native species just like people.

Someone's baby ball boa wound up in my daughter's living room in Wichita, Ks after her former boyfriend brought in a sofa he picked up off the streets left out for refuse....the snake was curled up inside it. Boy were they ever surprised!! Snakes of any size really aren't meant to be pets...
