The Pro-Science Argument for GMO Labeling

One of the criticisms I hear about the movement to label genetically modified organisms (GMOs) is that it's anti-science. Some even go so far as to say it's an assault on science. While I can't speak for the entire movement, I can say that the lack of ...

- my word as scientist by vocation and (thorough) education (though not profession) (and an unusually honest person) -- I consider this --and especially the (scientifically well-disproven) "principle of substancial equivalence"-- BULLS..., nay: DINOSAUR-excrement !

" Possibilities to improve a plant by some genetic modification are slim... The effects a specific gene will have...are hardly predictable. Furthermore the success rate of genetic manipulations are low, can hardly be controlled... there's other unwanted effects... " -- this is from a patent-application by MONSANTO(!!!) (my amateur. transl.)

"[on BBC, August 10, 1998] As a scientist actively working on the field, I find that it's very, very unfair to use our fellow citizens as guinea pigs." "The insertion is causing the problem, and not the transgene. When we tested the trangene in isolation, even an 800-fold concentration didn't do any harm... What we published confirmed that it was not the transgene that was the problem, but it was the technology." -- Dr. Arpad Pusztai

PS: GMOs should NOT be labeled. They ought to be eradicated.

There is a pro-environment reason for burning GMO crops in the fields. #BanGMO #NoGMO
