Ever wondered how our feline friends perceive the world around us? One man took it one step further. Nickolay Lamm has created these pictures to illustrate what a cat's vision would look like compared to our own. The upper image is what we would see....

I saw this, but I'm not sure what proof they have that cats can't focus very far. Some jump far or run very fast, so one would think they have to be able to see . . .

I remember when we were told that only humans could see colors and dogs and cats have poor vision. I have doubts about that, we now know they do see color and hunters need both clear and sharp vision. They may not have the distance vision we do, but I'm not so sure it would be that out of focus close up. Thanks Frans, this was interesting.

I have my doubts about this. My cat can see tiny bugs very far away and will sit staring at them until I investigate what he's found.

Very cool, Frans! Thanks! Cats *see* in 3D, they don't *see* colors as we do ~ but they respond strongly to light spectrum frequencies ~ red isn't seen as red, but can easily be differentiated from blue.
Cats *see* so well because their eyes allow them to detect even the most subtle motion. When your kitty sees the spider on the wall ~ he's primarily seeing the tiny little legs moving or miniscule shifts of position.

Like people using the outside of there eye to see at night, something has to give, plus they have great smell for a reason.

Thank you Frans. It's like being drunk while not wearing glasses! Meow to that!

I would have liked to see some close-up shots to compare our vision with cats' at less than 5 feet. Most of these shots were taken at a much longer distance. However, my cat can see me coming down the street and comes to greet me - which she does not do for other people.
