It's a very good idea, but I'm not sure how practical it is really.

This is the first I have heard of this. If it would protect cyclists from cars it would be great.

A great solution to a very dangerous problem and to the need for a greener form of transportation.

Thank you Frans. I think one of these already exists in the Netherlands. It is a fabulous idea whose time has come. I used to live in Ottawa and it had allowed for bicycle paths and wide lanes very early on in urban planning. It was a delight to travel around by bicycle and I felt very safe. Then I moved to where I now live and it is anti-bicycle. There have been some gruesome accidents and I completely stopped riding. These kinds of specifically dedicated bicycle lanes would get me back to it.

Phoenix, Arizona sure needs one.

Many are injured or killed. Most keep their bikes on the sidewalk which is dangerous for pedestrians.
