The problem is that most investors ONLY care about return, not social responsibilities, and alternative energy has not proved that lucrative to-date, sadly. So long as the majority of the world uses gas and drives everywhere, we're telling investors that's the go-to investment. So if we're not part of the solution, we're really part of the problem. I hate not going out as much as I used to, but it's a necessary discipline to walk my talk.

A/The major problem with all forms of alternative (so-called)'renewable'(none of them is) and even ''clean''(what a dirty mind-raping lie!) energy (and other 'inventions') is that they are (increasingly!) being exploited and abused to uphold DENIAL and DIVERT from what's really needed, i.e. general massive downscaling, esp. a reduction of consumption and (human) population.

" global GHG emissions [are] currently growing at 2 percent per year, up 70 percent from 1990 [and] concentrations of CO2 in the atmosphere [are] currently at 400 ppm, up 30 percent from 1990 "
-- "Beyond Growth or Beyond Capitalism?" By Richard Smith, Truthout, 15 January 2014

" [at least in Capital(fasc)ism...] It's always the same: it's not 'the economy' and not the market being ecologized, but 'ecology' being merchandized. Nothing gained. Quite the contrary. 'Economy' basking in their 'ecological awareness'. [my transl.]
-- Hans A. Pestalozzi "Auf die Bäume ihr Affen [Up into the Trees You Apes]" (1989) ISBN 3729603132 S.288 (afaik never translated into English (or is it?), but most-recommendable (character-forming and FUN!) reading!)

Umm...shouldn't that be the other way around? warn China and praise the rest of the world? And the final, kicker sentence IS, “They’re not doing this because they want to save the planet. They’re doing it because it’s in their national interest."

True, Carol, but the corporate world in the western world is really for the most part, no better.

Too many nations, including China, are still burning the dirtiest of #dirtyenergy, coal. We need to stop #dirtycoal.

What about the elephants, rhinos, and tigers that are poached? What about all the American pets and babies who die from toxic Chinese products?
