There were between 600,000 and 700,000 people from all across Canada and the US that were in Vancouver this past weekend for the PRIDE Parade and festival.

A second related article ---

City councillor Tim Stevenson says that we often take things like gay rights for granted in an open society like Canada.

"I've always said that the revolution that I've been a part of in the last 35 years is an armchair revolution in comparison to what happens in other counties," he explains. "You don't get to face losing your job or your friends or your reputation, you're in danger of losing your very life."

I heard one American say on the radio that he really appreciated being able to come north, enjoy the parade and festival, and get away from all the hate that he runs into at home.
