It's a pit bull called Elle (pronounced Ellie) from Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. She helps teach kids how to read, as well as learn about dog safety and overcoming prejudice and stereotypes, something many pit bulls face.

Great Article! So glad that Elle was awarded with this prestigious award! She certainly deserves it and her award will bring more attention to how unjustly maligned this breed of dogs are! The majority of pit bulls who have never been trained to be aggressive (the fault of humans not them) are very loving and exceedingly devoted dogs! I hope that this award and recognition will help to get rid of BSL as more people see what an injustice it is! Thanks Michael for this wonderful article.
