To call nuclear power "clean" is an affront to science, common sense and the English language itself, yet industry backers, inside and outside of government, are attempting to establish a new "Clean Energy Standard" to promote nuclear power.

How true. There is nothing "clean" about nuclear energy. Unless we find a way to eject the spent fuel into the Sun, all nuclear plants should be shut down.

I remember reading a few years ago about the newer, safer technology of nuclear power. I don't have time to look it up now, but I think France built a model. And, their waste was transformed into glass rendering it inert. I could be wrong. I also recall that the newer model reactor structures are supposed to withstand a blow from an airplane.
I still wouldn't put one on a fault line though.
