Donkey Dumping On The Rise As Drought Hits Texas

Spare a thought for an unlikely victim of the drought that is plaguing Texas this year - the donkey. Donkey abandonment is on the rise in the Lone Star state, with cash-strapped owners abandoning the animals in droves.

This is so sad. People can be so cruel. Donkeys love people who are even slightly good to them. They deserve love in return.

Good one James!!! This just pisses me off to no end. When you take on an animal it is your responsibility to take proper care of it!!!!!! There were times when I was dirt poor and living on pancake mix and my animals ALWAYS had lots of food, litter and water!!!! Their little lives are in my hands, even if it meant scrounging the ditches for pop bottles, I ALWAYS took care of them first. These idiotic monsters should be looking for new homes for these donkeys if they can't take care of them anymore. GRRRRRR! Thanks Barb. Getting too crabby to type anymore.

There is no excuse for what they are doing! Are the heartless pieces of crap that do that because they don't have enough money to take care of them will be abandoning their kids and/or spouse next because of that excuse? Hey, money is tight so that'll be more for their heartless despicable self!

I would have thought that the state would intervene when it is an emergency like this, and bring in hay and lucerne for them, that would be the right thing to do -

Hi I have not commented straight away because a bit busy, and was rooting around for more information and petitions in regard to donkeys sufferings and also this terrible doneky dumping. been around posting this too.

If you find a donkey or can try to get help, worth looking carefully, very carefully before any move, but have a look at all the charities that maybe able to help, and have some useful phone numbers at hand.

Here is a website, not looked into it, but worth checking out.

http://donkeyrescue.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=cms.page&id=1114

There is the donkey sanctuary too. Will post this about.

Thanks Barbcat.

How sad! I hope these animals can be saved. Those of us who are Christians might want to recall the story of Christ's birth --and how Mary was carried to Bethlehem on the back of this humble beast of burden.

Thank you, Barbcat, for bringing us this sad but important story.
