19 Year Old Dog Gives Meaning to a Dying Woman

His name is Baxter and at the age of 19, he was still inspiring elderly people in their final days. Baxter has died since this video was shot, but he lives on in our memories as one of the biggest inspirations. What an amazing video.

Thank you for sharing, Barbcat. Once again, proof of the healing and comforting powers of animals. They are so precious and so much more psychic than humans ever could hope to be. This is a wonderful and bittersweet story. Peace, Love and Happiness!!

Why do you think Anubis, the 'Spirit Guide of the Dead' god of Pharaonic Egypt, has the head of a jackal, a member of the canine species? Dogs have been providing this service for millennia! I hope they keep on doing it, and that all of us remember that when we choose between the portals in the gateless barrier (mumon-seki), the ones that say 'no pets' aren't the best ones.

I hit the submit button too quick, and am now wondering about whether Baxter should have been put down before this? I dunno, hard to do it and I've had to make that decision far too many times, but while it's obvious he did bring some comfort to those patients in the hospice, I also can't help but think it was unfair to Baxter. He couldn't even lift his head, let alone walk. I think when an animal gets that far advanced in old age, it is not fair to be dragging them around like that. Why not let him him live out his own last days without being carried around like a stuffed toy? I can't help but think he wasn't very comfortable being carried under his front legs like that.

Hmmm, just checked and actually, Baxter passed away 3 years ago? Geez, now I am wondering why this is now being posted in Care.2? Here I was all "weepy" and this is an old story, actually?
