A sweet and furry story has risen from the ashes of Herriman, Utah's severe wildfires, and his name is Phoenix. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, a kitten with burned paws and singed whiskers was discovered wandering around the recently charred land

Thank you Barb...Had quite the time trying to sign in and came in a back door...

Fires are scary enough, the fact that so many creatures parish from them is Unforgiveable (Sadly people flee, but most leave their creatures to fend for themselves)...For me, when there were fires here in 2007 I thanked the Lord that I did not have my precious Setter "Scarlett", but I had notes on the door, my photos and would of rushed out in my sweats, cause I forgot my clothes.

I remember all of the horses that got burned and had to be treated...Thanks be to God that this little one was safe and would love to add another 9 lives to him!

BTW...The Fire Season is just getting started, for anyone that owns a pet, make sure you have a Emergengy Kit as well as a Crate ready, you never know what will happen and sadly most places when you go into a Shelter if you have to FLEE, they won't take PETS, but if you have a CRATE, then you can argue with them! IMPORTANT!

Thanks again Barb...Fires are my worst fear!

Dear little kitty, hope it ends up in a good home. It is obviously smart if it managed to save itself.

Good story of a wonderful rescue.Hope Phoenix finds a loving home!! I concur with Marilyn, in that, ALL pet owners need to have a 'Plan in Place' for any wildfires that may hit their neighborhood. A teacher last year, here in my neighborhood, was evacuated, along with all of us, and she had to open the pen for her 8 horses. 4 came back to the pen during the fires and perished, and the other 4 were rescued. Fires happen so quickly, and our animals are displaced, or injured. Also, protect your furbabies from the fireworks tonight!!!! My corgi has her favorite towel, toys and snacks in the bathtub already!! Stay safe everybody, Happy 4th to all!! Thanks, Barb for this post. xox

Noted. Thanks Barb. Phoenix was one of the lucky ones. I agree with Gran pat that all of us who have animal companions need to think about how we're going to help them in case of fire or flood.
