SEWARD, Alaska (AP) - Marine mammal specialists from across the country have descended on an Alaska aquarium to help care for a baby beluga whale that became separated from its mother shortly after its birth.

If the calf survives, he'll never see the open ocean again since there is no way now for humans to teach him survival skills.

The National Marine Fisheries Service will eventually decide where he will be placed.

I wish they had a sanctuary to send this wayward baby beluga...The thing that touched me the most is the fact that he has a feeding tube because I have one, also. It's where I get my nutrients and protiens. I can still eat by mouth if I want to, but the foood in this place is not the best! LOL I'll be praying for 'Johnny' like the rest of you. Thnx for your comments!!

Thanks for posting Barb, he's is precious! Just sad to know that he will now have to spend the rest of his life in captivity. But glad he is doing well & gaining weight. Thanks to all those involved in helping this lil' guy get stronger!
