Why Millionaires Prefer Dogs Over Cats - Yahoo! Finance

Dogs and millionaires have a lot in common. They are relentless opportunists (especially when it comes to rewards). They come in all shapes, sizes and colors. They defend their turf. And in general, they don't like cats.

How interesting. I hadn't thought about their preferences re: dogs vs. cats. I prefer both dogs and cats in my household. Plus my fishes too. Thank you, Barb for this. xox

That must have something to do with why I prefer cats.

I'll admit when I was growing up we always had dogs because Mom could NOT stand cats!! One time we went to Grandma's house and someone but these beautiful orange spotted kittens in my lap a boy, that was it! One look was all it took! I was so in love.....begged Mom to let me have them but she said NO. Didn't speak to her for the rest of the day! LOL

Odd , I'm also not a millionaire but I love & have both dogs and cats , I used to think cats were the easy pet
until we adopted to homeless boy kittens , They were very needy and hungry !
One of the two that I had planned on adopting out is so high maintenance that I kept him and glad I did so
he is super loving and sweet but must be fed small amounts through a lot of the day and if it sits for a bit I must
stir it he meowed like heck after Hurricane Sandy because his water fountain didn't work w/out power !
So for me my two dogs are much easier .

Of course, they could just be more social.

For some reason, I can't get the site to come up. Anyway, I prefer cats over dogs - even though I love them both.

Oops!
Sorry, the page you requested either doesn't exist or isn't available right now!
I'm a cat person myself, but I'm not against dogs. I've just always had more cats and the Greyhound dog I had was a sweetheart.

Sorry I couldn't get to the page Barb. We have always had dogs, but for sure no where near being a
millionaire! I don't think dogs are as greedy. I love cats, my daughter growing up was allergic,
but when she was little before we knew, we had a cat that had five kittens, and the whole kindergarten
had to come over to have a look and hold each one! I remember bringing one home when I was just little,
and it hid under the old gas stove. When my Dad came in from work, he immediately started sneezing, and said "There is a cat in here, get it out!" I felt destroyed - how was I supposed to know of his bad allergic
reaction to cats?

It figures, cats are mucho independent and since most millionaires are Republican they don't trust the independent vote. Ha Ha

A cat doesn't take commands! "It won't Sit! It won't Fetch! And it won't Beg!"

Actually, I've come to the conclusion that dogs are Democrats (loyal, brave, usually cooperative) whereas cats are Republicans (only in it for themselves). So, I suspects millionaires prefer dogs because they can boss them around.

Unfortunately, I can't view the article either. Thanks for trying, BarbCat! I am nowhere near being a millionaire, but even if I won the lottery, I would still be a cat person. I would just have a bigger house and more rescued cats! I have always loved all animals and treat them all with compassion, empathy, and respect. It wasn't until I worked at an animal shelter for the first time when I was 31 that I realized that I am a "cat person". I loved the dogs and did all I could to make them comfortable in the miserable shelter, but I didn't understand them the way I understood the cats. The shelter vet told me that cats are sensitive and emotional. So am I. Maybe that is why I relate to them and understand them so well.

Can't view the page. I guess I'll never be a millionaire, then. That's a shame because if I were a millionaire, I'd have a house with room for more cats, plus a shelter for other cats.

I like dogs, but not when they need walking in the winter.

When I was a kid we had dogs, but one day a little kitten walked into our yard and my mom fell in love with it, and from that moment on we had cats too.

If I ever becomes a millionaire I wouldn't give up my cat, but I also like dogs. Just don't want to get up early for a walk.

Me thinks that Millionares want the companionship & adoration of a Dog, while Cats would just walk away.
