Cartier jewelry uses beautiful leopards in their commercials and I want them to stop. Please use the Contact Us link to speak up for the leopards. There is also an 800 # and street address you can use.

Contacted, forwarded, and will call Barb. I wonder if they would mind using their advertising department members as "exercise toys" for wild leopards? :)

I am writing to you today to respectfully request that you stop using leopards and other animals in your advertising and commercials. You are fostering an illusion that makes other people want to own a big cat too, and that is not right. Large cats need to be released back into the wild or if that is not possible, then send them to a sanctuary. It is hard enough trying to re-establish population growth of large cats in the wild without your company creating a want in the public to own a large cat of their own.

Could I please ask you to stop using these precious Leopards in your advertising campaigns. They are not toys but living beings that should not be used for this purpose. Let them live free in the wild where they belong. Thank you.

think of how entitled this company thinks it is.
How dare they compare their elite status to that of a highly endangered leopard.

In the end, "all publicity is good",whether it be petitions or just attention, even negative attention
Cartier will not suffer, yet may even do more business due to the notice of angered consumers who don't make up a huge part of their sales, which are restricted to the ultra rich.
This only plays into their customers thinking they have an extraordinary purchase, and have bragging rights on the back of insensitive marketing.

Contacted the company. Hope they take note. I disagree with tasunka m. in that letting companies know what is acceptable and why educates them.

What makes you think the use of ANY of the Great Cats make your product MORE SEDUCTIVE... It Doesn't !!! Other High class jewellery Establishments can find another way to advertise their wares. SOME gullible people may think it adds to their sex appeal or notoriety to seek to own one of these magnificent cats, but in reality they are better off to offer a kind and loving home to a domesticated species. Leave the big cats alone and prove you are responsible Merchants.

'I regret to inform you that I'll be unable to buy anything from you until I see definite proof that you've stopped the inhumane practice of using wild animals in your advertising.' That was my priggish - and largely untruthful - little message to them. It's true I won't be buying any of their stuff, although I never have anyway because I'm a) too poor and b) not very interested. But I think the only way they'll listen is if they think it'll hit them financially.

I've signed Tamara's petition, too - thanks, Desanka.

This has irked me for a long time - thank you, Barb, for actually doing something about this.

This is the reply I received:
Dear ...

Thank you for your recent letter.

The panther is the historic icon of the House of Cartier and in the short film, L’Odyssée de Cartier she takes us inside an extraordinary tale that recalls the unique journey of the jeweler.

Please rest assured that the panthers that appeared in this production were treated with the utmost care and respect while filming.

The three young panthers featured in this short film reside at Thierry Le Portier’s wild animal farm in France. A passionate and renowned wild cat trainer for more than 40 years, Thierry Le Portier has worked on numerous well-known movie productions and continues to adhere to the highest standards for the animals he trains. All three panthers were born in captivity.

The professional team of trainers was present during the entire duration of the filming. In addition to regular veterinary monitoring, a dedicated caretaker accompanied each panther to ensure that optimal shooting conditions were met such as adequate breaks, quality of food, safety, and any other matter related to the big cats’ welfare.

We hope that this answers your questions and concerns regarding this matter.

Sincerely,

Ruben A.
