This Sea Lion at the National Zoo in Washington DC was following this little girl for about 5 minutes and when she tripped he looked genuinely concerned. (Also, the little girl is holding a sea lion stuffed animal.)

My apologies if this has been posted before...who says sea lions aren't intelligent enough to decipher what's happening?

Awww! Very special. I am going to feed a fish to a sea lion, via care 2 in his honor.

Animals are just amazing at sensing our moods and if we feel down, amazing video.

Thanks for posting Barb, who cares if it was posted before, I have never seen it, and it was a real pleasure to watch. Thanks for posting!

My thanks as well, Barb! Have not seen it before and just trust all your others' observations /interpretations here, as I cannot make any judgement from these 8 seconds. But it is definitely true that ALL animals sense our human emotions. Lol Barb, I like "Betty" as that is also my middle name (short for Bettina) :)
I don't know where Roseann and Sheryl find "feeding a fish to a sealion"-unless they mean "a snack to a seal"? Certain difference there and I've been feeding snacks to seals, will continue.

As dogs of the departments of the police sniff explosives or drugs so the sea lions potentially, with the right training, can help the man in the defense of ports: 'cause they are fast, and able to identify unusual objects on the sea floor.
The demonstration of this unusual 'discipline' and 'took place at the NURC, the Born Researche Centre of La Spezia (ITA) thanks to a team of marine mammals by the U.S. Navy, the core U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Fleet System MK5, which simulated the presence of foreign bodies in the water.
Their trainer explains:'' working for six years with sea lions underwater and I consider myself lucky. I have two dogs but they are not really trained like them.
Sea lions are ideal students, receptive, intelligent. I have need every day to try to make their lesson interesting, 'cause it is not chore''

and the man in response to this animal so intelligence has responded with its customary and usual dementia:
As if the cause of the extinction of salmon were sea lions, makers of the NOAA decided that, to save an endangered species, you have to knock down another.
So it is that a group of California sea lions found a "restaurant" always open to hunt endangered salmon at the base of Bonneville Dam, including Oregon and Washington, and the herd was therefore sentenced to death.

So lovable video - noted thank you Barb
