Garlin II: I've got mixed feelings. Disney's had opportunities to show the uniqueness of non-white cultures in its films, but has failed miserably at doing so.

I'm not black but I'm not 100% white either. I dont care what disney shows us. I show my two daughters women of color and Men in our community. I do believe that if you need disney to potray women of color than there is something wrong at home. Turn the tv off and take the girls out to meet real women. And white women shouldnt even show there little girls disney crap either. To try and make them hope for a prince is crap. Or that they are all going to be a princess on day. Disney does not portray any good role models for girls. Its not right either but to depend on a toy manufacture and cartoon character to be a good role model is lazy of us all.

Contrary to popular belief, Walt Disney was not a nice man. He was a racist and a blatant anti-semite. His racism became Disney corporate policy, and it's long-since past due that they've changed that attitude.
I agree with you, April, wholeheartedly. Showing children REALITY is ever so much better than filling their young minds with crap fantasies.
Thanks, Dee.
