Nicole Nagy had gone back to school hoping that a new career would lead to a better job. When she was turned down for financial aid, Nagy was told she could, as a song goes, "sing for the money." She was directed to a contest called Careereoki Anyone brav

Why do you say they must be desperate? Some of them may have beautiful and perhaps highly trained voices. Singing is NOT a talent reserved for superstars. I'm a high soprano who has been performing since I was fourteen. Now I sing with a medieval group AND with a B opera company - and there are many unsung (Hah!) vocal virtuosos among us who just don't have the contacts or the opportunities to become a superstar. Yet they give performances that bring standing ovations. (I've had a few myself!) Maybe some of these people are among that group. Try attending a few amateur or semiprofessional performances. You might be pleasantly surprised.
