A major oil spill has occurred in the strait of water separating Staten Island, NYC and the state of New Jersey. The spill, of more than 300,000 gallons of diesel fuel, reportedly occurred in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.

No mention of the environmental impact of the spill but undoubtedly it will be extensive. Let's hope they learn from their mistakes and increase the structural strength of all tanks and pipes for the future. Have to say though, I'm not holding my breath on that one :/

With there record profit then they should be able to pay a heffty fine. When is our goverment ever going to wake up.
