The OPP and other government agents are behaving badly, and the government policies they're enforcing are just plain wrong. Thanks to all of you who are noting this story!

Noted and thanks. News like this is often sanitized in the mainstream media who are usually funded by.....you guessed it.....government agencies. Now does that sound like a formula for objectivity? I am grateful we have internet so we are can sort out the propaganda from the truth. Kudos to you Barbara. Great story!

Well, this is something interesting I just received as a Google Alert:

Cornwall border post could be moved off Mohawk land
The federal government is considering moving a controversial border post from Mohawk territory near Cornwall, Ont., around 100 kilometres southeast of Ottawa.

These are our fellow human beings. People we share this planet with, they are our allies against big government and we should be demanding they be left alone. Write the Canadian government tell them how you feel How this does not go with the good intentions of the masses and that they are instigating division, racism and inequality and we have had enough of our brothers and sisters being treat this way!

Aren't the US border guards already armed? What I do find rather ironic is that the protesters to arming the guards are in fact armed themselves.

Kellyanne, I reread the article and didn't see anything about the protesters being armed; they are trying to get guns BANNED. I'm not sure, but it seems that the US guards are armed and the Canadian guards weren't but now will be. Whatever the situation, the govt. has gone back on its word not to post armed guards at that crossing, and is putting everyone at risk. I hope they move that crossing out of the community, and soon!

Another case of breaking another promise to the Native Peoples. I think the Mohawk request is fair enough...if the Border Station remains on their land, and the promise was to not have weapons at it then keep the promise. Or by law allow a vote to the change, so follow the law. The other alternative is to move the Border Station off of Mohawk land and set it up someplace else. Seems easy enough instead of the Canadian government breaking their own laws, their own promise, and causing undo stress upon the Mowhawk Nation.
