What's going on? Why is Canada backing out of environmental agreements? Is this part of an overall policy or are there specifics to these two cases?

The Harper Regime is in the back pocket of the fossil fuel industries and in their backward way of thinking, this means anything related to environmental causes must be minimized, silenced, shut down, etc. It is part of their overall policy of willful ignorance of all matters scientific.

As a Canadian, I feel deeply ashamed of and embarrassed by this sorry excuse of a "leader" that currently occupies the prime minister's office.
