Mike Huckabee's Racist Rants Against Obama

US Politics & Gov't  (tags: politics, propaganda, ethics, racisim, republicans )

Today, Chris Matthews of MSNBC gave the best and most concise analysis I have yet heard of right-wing "Christian," Mike Huckabee's racist rants against President Obama this past week. It's also perhaps the best commentary I have ever heard...

What Huckabee is selling is his book and he doesn't much care what he says to get the attention to make a few sales. The man is chasing dollars.

Rev. Huckabee is condemned by his own failures to adhere to the 10 Commandments such as bearing false witness (#9) and coveting another person's position and reputation (#10). Wonder how many of the other 8 he has transgressed against???

oops, Good and on and on. I should know better that to blog when I've been up 16 hours. But I have to affirm that I too feel Chris did a great job of pointing to basic truths. I wonder if there is any way to help these people from clinging to fear?

Mike Huckabee was director of communications for Evangelist, James Robison in 1980. After that he was pastor at Immanuel Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, AR until 1986, then Beech Street Baptist Church in Texarkana until 1992. In 1992 he "recieved a higher calling" to leave the pulpit and run as a Republican against incumbant Democrat, Senator Dale Bumpers, which he lost.........

There has been nothing but racist comments and innuendo since President Obama was elected. All of the monsters have crawled out from under the beds and closets like the kkk, huckabee, birthers, boner, spain, beck, and on and on. They want to kill us all and take us back a hundred years so they can dance on our graves and have it their way. It looks to me like they are having it their way and no one is doing anything about the situation of no jobs, nothing for the people everything for the rich. This is happening to us and like lambs we are being led to the slaughter. Are we marching to the ovens without a word ? You want this to be our history the end of our history ? What the hell happened to all of us. No heart ? too much ?

WTF???

We are only 43 years past the end of the civil rights movement and rather than continuing to move forward where much work still needs to be done, we are again resorting to the stone ages. This man is an embarrassment, but I would garner that he is a dangerous embarrassment.

Thanks Carrie for posting another of my articles. It's really quite breathtaking how these so called "Christian" leaders, like the "good reverend" Huckabee feel so absolutely comfortable openly violating the scriptural commandments they preach others to keep. Adding to Jeannette A's list above, He also contravened the 1st Commandment: "I am the Lord Thy God. Thou shall have no other gods before me."

Well, these narcissists have placed themselves ahead of God. Nay. They have replaced God with themselves and then bare false witness against the very God they replaced, yet praise when they need to burnish their "born again" bona fides.

Huckabee, like many of his ilk, isn't a Christian. He just says he is. I see no love, forgiveness, humanity, humility, tolerance, goodness...Need I go on? Preaching bigotry is not going to help this country or world. I really want to be the driver on his karma bus. Hop on O'Reiley, Beck, Limbaugh and there's still plenty of room for more!

I pride myself in not calling people names and addressing issues with facts, but I tell you, Chris Matthews, who must be related to screaming Howard Dean…I’ll stop here before I have to resort to something drastic, like citing facts to support real issues. The American media feeds into this by trying to oversimplify and inflame EVERY argument into a divisive black/white, left/right, liberal/conservative issue - BECAUSE this is easy to hype in a sound bite. The more dumbed down and hyperbolic it gets - the more advertising revenue they make.

Huckabee is a sideshow, like Palin. Not to be paid much attention to. There for shock and distraction, as he caters to his small faction.

He is more like Goebels than Billy Graham. They (the rightwing power mad)have had their way so long, they can not believe they have over stepped the limits of crediblity. They own and control the "liberal" media, that demonized the word liberal so they figured nothing could stop them. Huckabee meet enough rope, enough rope meet Koch brothers, tea party meet reality, reality you don't know Fox News let us progressives get you aquainted.

Saturday March 5, 2011, 12:35 pm
Of course looked at another way, even though Huckabee was simply trying for cheap political points, the United Kingdom does have a history of being an imperialist power, and the Mau Mau did fight against colonial rule, which we should easily understand. Did you ever hear of the "Imperial British East Africa Company"? There is one other card he was playing that may have been missed, the Mau Mau were also viewed as communists, so he gets in both the Black and Red scares in one sound bite. The reality was that it was primarily a Black vs Black civil war, with an average of about 3 whites killed per year; mild compared to a single day in NYC. Of course the GOP/Tea Party and Christian-right seldom let things like facts get in their way.

As I've often told in other blogs, don't you think that Senator McCain and the Republican party would have brought this up, if in fact, it were true at the time of their campaigining across the country? It is so stupid to keep repeating this birther stuff. This Huckabee wants to be president? YIKES!! Maybe he should check out that John McCain was born in the Panama Canal - not in the USA. Of course both his parents were US Citizens. Mr. Obama's mother and her parents were born in Kansas - no one from the GOP side ever mentions her and her parents. We have so much other things to fix in this country - the only reason that they are even doing this, is because the South and some Northerners are just prejustice against blacks. They don't recall his mother's family. We need to remind them of that fact.

Mary, these people aren't going to just go away.I wish they would, but it's not going to happen. I have a fifteen year old grandson who has been living in Alabama for the past eight years and has been brainwashed into believing all the birther nonsense. When I tried to explain the facts to him he told me I was stupid and didn't know what I was talking about! It doesn't help that his ultra conservative right wing Christian grandparents, who live in Idaho are encouraging his deep south teachings. I love him dearly, but I fear for him and his younger brother who are growing up hearing and believing all this racially motivated trash. These young people are part of our future and that is truly frightening. Fortunately, I have three other grandsons who are being taught the exact opposite. Maybe they can offset the effect.

I think it is a sign of desperation that these right wing a-holes feel a need to lie and distort the truth to such an obscene degree. Huckabee is a good case in point. He would like to run for President but, he thinks he can't win against Obama. So he lashes out with nonsense in the hope that enough of it will stick so he might have a chance.

I want no part of organized religion. These phonys are a lot of things, but they are not Christians. Jebus never taught intolerance and was if anything a bleeding heart liberal. As a person who never stops asking questions, I found out early that you don't question religion. Unable to get any satisfactory answers, I read the good book three times cover to cover searching for answers. I left the church and it's intolerance and became an agnostic. Why if Christianity is a new testament religion, did it go to the old testament to find the boogy man to cast fear into the hearts of the people? You just gotta hate them queers because it says so in Leviticus. Leviticus has a lot of really stupid laws which the church rejects, but not the verse about the homosexuals. That is the truth. Why do they have to go to the old testament to fleece the flock? Jebus never asked for money and certainly not ten percent of your paycheck. In an ever expanding universe, it is hard for me to fathom an almighty God who would show concern for the intolerant idiots who live on earth. A lot of so called Christian will be in for a big surprise when they die. Huckabee is just another intolerant idiot trying to cash in on the other idiots who believe he is a Christian. Don't call yourself a Pro Lifer and tell me you supported King Georges wars of aggression. If there was a Jebus and he ever did return to earth, the republicans would kill him as fast as the did John Lennon or Martin Luther King. They want no peace and would certainly not accept the prince of peace.

Deliver me anything that so many do in the name of religion. What is happening now is not what I was taught many years ago. Of course I do not identify with any religion now, beacuse I am so ashamed of what so many are involved in.
To speak to the foot in mouth Huckabbe of this past week.
Chris did a great job on poiting out many of the lies, however he failed to point out the while huck-finn said he misspoke about where Obama spent his younger days with his MOTHER. huck-finn never did explain how he could justify his comments about Obama's father and grandfather having an influence on his life in Indonesia. I never heard about either of them being in that country.

His Mother had remarried and was a professor in Indonesia, At a young age Obama went back to Hawaii to live with his Grandparents that had moved there from Kansas. Of course his (white) Grandfather, a World War 2 veteran, must have had some influence on his life, just as his (white) Grandmother certainly did. They were both solid mainstays in his life until their deaths.

It is beyond me how stories, lies and falsehoods, multiply. How do facts get ignored and only stories remain. It must be a pre-school mentality, when we read Alice in Wonderland to the children. So many seem to be stuck in the mentality of, if the truth doesn't fit with reality, revert back to story telling.

I find the prospect of what can happen in the next election frightening, just as this past one turned out to be. I really hope the ones that voted for some of these fools did not have a clue as to what they were doing.

You know, as the religious would say, "forgive them Father, for they know not what they do".

Well, not so sure I can forgive, but I do hope we survive what they have done in the election of 2010.

He is just making a total fool of himself and should at least bother to get his facts straight before backstabbing the president and showing a complete lack of respect. He is also demonstrating the fact that he has no clear or relevant policies, therefore, in a desperate attempt to get attention, he turns the whole thing into a KKK rally.

I know he wouldn't dare, but he would be better off exposing the evil, racist background of the billionaire Koch brothers:

Carrie, when I was growing up with two pairs of Texan grandparents, and two parents who constantly used the "n" word. But when I went to school in Hawaii, and sat side by side with children of several races, I found that majority of them were smart, nice, well-mannered, considerate and fun to be with. And they certainly weren't dirty. After that, my blood would curdle whenever my parents talked racism. I didn't dare contradict them, but I never joined in to their racist rants. My siblings didn't, either.

Have you thought of convincing your grandchildren (assuming that some of them are old enough) to consider a northern University, like Harvard? Or Stanford or UC Berkeley in California? You could emphasize the fine reputations of all those schools - and they are all very liberal. College kids like to fit in with everybody else. It might make a difference!

Every time Rev. Whorebag Huckabee the wanna be opens his mouth he gives douche nozzles a bad name. He can lie all he wants in his back stepping but the fact of the matter is he intentionally, knowingly and with malice of fore thought lied about the President of the United States of America and not a single leading elected Repugnican politician has called his lying ass out on it. And they will not call him out on it because it serves their political agenda to vilify and delegitimize the President and everything that they can associate with Obama because it plays the tune their racist Christian Taliban of America base wants to hear and that their corporate owners want said. Huckabee is a consummate Theo-Fascist working for the Corporatist Plutocrats on their agenda for total control of the US Government and the entire US Judiciary, they already own a majority on the US Supreme Court. As usual being a member in good standing with the Christian Taliban of America Huckabee just cherry picked 'Thou shalt not lie and Thous shalt not bear false witness' right out of the Ten Commandments and into the garbage. Just like they do, and are doing unless any of you have forgotten that the really Big C Conservative Christian Taliban of America are doing right now to their supposed "Holy Book" via Conservapedia to weed out all of that pesky liberal language and leftist ideology.
And of course not being satisfied with leaving that steaming pile of lies about Obama he had to go on to rail about Portman being pregnant out of wedlock, funny I know he has had nothing but praise for the Palin daughter that paraded her out-of-wedlock belly and baby around the '08 Presidential Campaign. But then of course one does not remind a gun toting Mama Grizzle in public that her grandson is a bastard now does one. Obviously your political leanings are all the difference between being a slut and a good Christian girl. The thing about the pregnant out-of-wedlock crap that bothers me is that as a minister/preacher/Rev., whatever kind of snake oil salesman he claims to be, I assumed, mistakenly, that he would have a better than average knowledge of the Bible and the Bibles historical context. But then Bible humping Christians always seem to forget or ignore the fact that they are worshiping an orthodox Jew from his birth until his death, and no reason that that orthodoxy did not continue, who never heard or uttered the word Christian. Which always bring to a point that I know will put them in to froth at the mouth hissy fits. Under Jewish law at the time Mary Mother of God was not only not married, as she had not moved into the House of Joseph required by the law at the time, so she was pregnant out-of-wedlock just as Portman is, and she had to tell Joseph that she was pregnant by rape, all be it God rape just like in all those heathen Greek stories, as she was made pregnant by God without her consent or knowledge. Joseph had every right to toss her out as used goods and/or talk about Mary the way Huckabee talked about Portman. So no matter how you look at it the Jew that Christians worship was/is, legally having been concieved out-of-wedlock, a bastard and the product of not a virgin birth but a God rape.

This man Huckabee occupies the front pages with his books and ideas, as do all the other right-wingers/tea-partiers, and in doing so prevets more useful information to reach the public; in the same time he & they create a feeling of lack of security that opens the way for a -in the eyes of Mr&Mrs Average Public- "Strong Figure" to get elected, and this Mr Strongboy will be a white, christian, republican right-winger.

It's all politics (stupid!)

I watch Chris twice a day (always the repeat can't get enough) and saw this magnificent speech. And as for Mr. Huckabee, this is just another example of why I don't believe that anyone should carry the title "Reverend'. Must I revere you more than another? I think not. Especially with your racist rants and ramblings that are lies that your audience thrives on.

Maybe there will be a Barbour/Huckabee or Huckabee/Barbour ticket. They deserve one another.

Let Huckabee continue his veiled racist rants and tirades against unwed mothers. His words belie the so-called faith he professes and his true beliefs are showing to the masses.

Thanks Carrie and Ronald.

As many have pointed out here, the right-wing purposefully forgets about the fact that Obama was raised by his White mother and grandparents. This point sout the craziness of white supremacist consciousness - if you're a bi-racial Black man like myself, Tiger Woods, or Obama, etc., if you do something that's approved of or admired, it's because of the part of you that's "not black." But if you do anything that isn't, then it's because of the "black" part of you. When I was growing up, I tried desperately to get my White Catholic school classmates to recognize that my White mother was equally a part of me. But to them, I was still just a "nigger." Sadly, the only thing that's changed is that people are less likely say "nigger," but will use code words, like "the Antichrist," or "African," or "Kenyan," to still trigger the same associations that we are inferior and outsiders.

It's pathetic, Ronald. Racists are one of many horrible legacies perpetrated by ignorant white people, on mentally lazy, ignorant, white people. We live amongst people with great vision and people that have no vision past putting a new blade on the lawn mower. It's a bad marriage that we can't get out of, short of impossible measures. I'm so sorry for your people's pain. I'm equally embarrassed that we have sunk from an awakening that few remember. I truly wish we could secede from the "red necks" of this country. Neither wants to live with each other.

This is your epitomy of a religious/racist fanatic - since when did colour make the difference of what kind of job anyone can do well or not??? This person is an absolute anamalistic ignoramous to put it midly. Although I am not a religious person - I do feel great sorrow for his parishioners having to listen to the absolute trash he spouts and this is where you get your racists going out and killing and maiming others with differences!!! TY Carrie for this post - Love & Light To All.

Gee Lloyd Got something to say? Don't hold back. Spit it out.

Did MH quit preaching so he could cross the imaginary line and spew his own version of theological venom without the legal penalties? Ooooooh, pew warmers better watch out.

Maybe Jason's not so far off base. Maybe MH is stirring the stuff on the shingle to line his pockets more deeply from book sales...the love of money MH.

You know when we all have to generally practice "duck and cover" in public never knowing when spewed verbiage will strike someone's sensitive chord resulting in what Jaclin referred to above, maybe we will wake up. But, I doubt it.

The love of money MH, and/or the ratings that convert to the same thing.

John thanks for the TEOAOAHAC info.

Wow Ron, what kind of Catholic school did you go to? If the N word had ever tumbled out of my mouth, or that of any of any of my classmates, we would have been in some serious trouble. I thought the Jesuits were better than that. I was taught by the Sisters if St. Joseph of Carondelet. I think that by this time even the most vocal bigots know that being black does not equate with being inferior. They may sound crazy, but I think guilt and fear keep bigotry alive in this country. Guilt because of slavery, and all the mistreatment that has followed. Fear because that if enough black men have enough power we may get some of our own back. Of course, there are a lot of other things like a black persons' success just points out the idiocy of all that racial superiority stuff. By the way, I am half Spanish and I got some of the same "wetback", "greaser", stuff hurled at me. No one cared about the other half. It just works that way. I used to tell those who called me a wetback to get their slurs right. I wasn't Mexican, I was Spanish, so they better hurry up and think of something else.

Scott, you're right. It really isn't necessary to be as vile as Huckabee to make a point and disagree with him. That's the problem with our political leaders and country. Name calling, violence, and real hate filled rhetoric seems to be the only way people think they can get their point across and be heard. Not good at all.

He should be ashamed of him self.God created all of us in his image. And when we die he's not going to judge us on our color. He is going to judge us on our deeds in life and how we treated our brothers and sisters in every race. When it comes down to it, we are ALL kin to each other one way or another. No matter what religion a person chooses, they know there is a higher power, and each person should be treated with respect.

Carrie, I grew up in Jersey City. In the 1960s, my family integrated the Catholic parish and my brother and I integrated the Catholic elementary school, which was run by the nuns, not the Jesuits. We also integrated the neighborhood where I grew up. The only reason my parents were allowed into the church was because two courageous priests defied the Archbishop, who had a segregationist policy vis-a-vis the parish system. He did not want the schools integrated. So there were Black parishes and White parishes. The predominantly Italian and Irish catholic kids and their parents, and even a fair number of nuns were against us being there and tried to run my brother especially, and then me out of the school (he's 3 years older). Without going into the history, Italian and Irish Americans were notoriously racist in the North. My parents had to intervene many times over the years. I integrated Pee-wee -Little League baseball in Jersey City. When I first came up to the plate, some of those other parents pulled their kids off the field so they couldn't play. Others threw hotdogs and soda at me.

I started Jesuit school in 1970 (my brother transferred there in 1968 after the Columban Fathers seminary he was attending closed). We still had to deal with plenty of racism there. But there was 1 Jesuit priest in particular who made it a mission of his to help integrate the Jesuit school and he was key to my brother attending and then I. When my mother died in 1988, he and the two other priests I mentioned said the Mass at our old Church in Jersey City. These priests (and others) used to serve the bread my Mom baked (she was German) as the Eucharist whenever they could.

Anyway, things were more complicated then you might imagine.

Boy Was I lucky growing up in Denver. As far as Catholic schools were concerned there was no segregationist policy and the public school kids I knew when to school with everyone. I'm probably about ten years older than Ron, so I am surprised at the amount of discrimination that still existed on the east coast. In Colorado there was a great deal of discrimination against the Hispanic community, but certainly no segregation.

Anyone who believes that people are divided into races, and will judge accordingly, Is not Christian, he has taken a stand to the contrary. But do not understand this. He is confused by the evil.

Carrie, may I remind you of what happened in New York in the 1980's when Black individuals were caught in various "Italian" sections and were beaten and killed, and driven out of other neighborhoods they integrated. Or Boston in the Late 1970's and 1980 after the "No Forced Bussing" campaign waged by Whites, which was very violent against Blacks. You might recall the famous picture of the Black man with a suit being stabbed in the face with the pole of an American Flag on the steps of Government Center - He was one of my professors at MIT.

Into the 1980s Blacks could not go to the Italian section - the famous North End of Boston, with all of the good restaurants etc, right accross from Government Center without fear of being attacked. Trolly Car operators would make an announcement when Black males boarded - "Attention, pick pockets on board."
In "neurtral territory," like the Red Line - subway - gangs of roving white youths looked for Blacks, pushing them onto the tracks. And you could never ever think about getting lost in South Boston, aka "Southie" and expect to make it out of there without serious bodily harm.

This history is well known to Blacks, because we had to endure it. It's not well known to Whites, or is often deliberately expunged from historical recitations of Northern History. May I refer you to Bill Russell's of the Boston Celtics recent autobiography. Or check out the studies done by Sampson of Harvard concerning segregation in Chicago to the present, or Massey and Denton's studies. Anyway, there's a lot more than meets the eye.

For an interesting dramatic film take on 19th Century New York, check out Martin Scorsese's "The Gangs of New York." There is a very accurate depiction of the White riots against Blacks that took place there and gives a bit of the backdrop to the racial hostility of the Irish against Blacks and fear that the ending of slavery would mean that Blacks, who had been in the U.S. for 2 centuries, would take away the jobs of Irish immigrants who just got off the boat.

It's so difficult to relate to this kind of behavior. And of course, yes I do remember the things you bring up Ron - now. Like many others I conveniently put them in the back of my mind because I don't like thinking about them.

MIke Huckabee is a christian impostor. He is deeply in dept to big business for his election campaign and is courting the Koch Brothers for more Walker-esk support. He is as against the working man as the other teabaggers.

noted...and again, not surprised...but then i'm not usually surprised by any of them...they are all selling something...trying to get us to buy into their vision of their world order...with them in the lead of course...not one of them cares about our country, our democracy, our people, our issues...they only care about one thing...themselves....what they can get for them...their greed...how much they can trick out of the public...their power...how they can be above the law and do as they please....yes...they are all cut from the same cloth and use the media hype as an attention getter...what would they do if we all just ignored them??? i wonder....
