Bashar Assad is not only desperate, he's unspeakably cruel. As far as I know, the explosives used in land mines don't have an expiration date, so for years to come, innocent people, including children, will be killed or maimed by stepping on one of these barbaric devices. Evidently, this so-called leader doesn't care about the people he leads --only about retaining power.

Susanne R - can't send you a green star as I already have this week - but I sooooo want to! Syria is getting more like Nazi Germany every day - it is appalling.

Evidently Assad doesn't care a jot for international opprobrium - so long as he clings onto power trampling over the bodies of his maimed and dying citizens - after all, they don't fall at his feet and worship him, so why should he care about them!

But it is well known that a cat in despair makes strange steps.

It's just too bad that not Assad himself will suffer for ages of these mines, but as said Susanne, innocent people will

Thanks Carrie!

Mines! Mines are a piece of military hardware that very difficult to remove once it has been planted.
Mines can remain in place for years until someone unlucky steps on it and gets blown away or even
as bad as having lost a leg or two. There are many countries out there that are still finding mines, the hard
way, by getting blown up. There are units in certain countries that specialize in mine removals. There
are score of people from all over with mising limbs because of the mines. Princess Diana was so against
mines that she help raise awareness of the disastrous effects of mines. There is a movement to outlaw
mines from being used. Very bad thinking here... Arrrughh...

Ty, Carrie.

These idiots who plant this land minds are sick. I wish each and every time they go to plant one, it would explode so maybe they'd learn that doing these actions of hatred isn't the smart way to go. Thanks Carrie
