One of the myriad things presidential contender Mitt Romney has pledged to do on day one of his presidency is to repeal the Affordable Care Act, President Obama's signature health care reform legislation, and replace it with "market drive" reforms.

I don't want no stinkin' (grammar intended) healthcare plan that covers illnesses and conditions due to a living a lifestyle of consuming processed, poisonous food, using toxic personal care and household cleaning products, having toxic mercury fillings and root canals in your mouth which ultimately poisons you, etc., the list goes on… The only healthcare plan I want is for accidental injuries. Unfortunately, I will be forced to buy the same type of coverage as people who abuse their bodies.

I'm not with you on this one, I want the right to choose what type of coverage I want…

The man is a chameleon, a liar of the first order. He'd sooner throw the 47% under the bus, literally, than do anything to help them. Even though many of his supporters are IN that category. I never stop being amazed at that, that so many people are so blinded by their religious fervor that they don't recognize their candidate despises them and would just end the programs they live on, leave them in the street to die, yet they carry his torch over the abortion issue. Weren't American's supposed to be smart people? Or is that a used to was idea?

72 million without health many will die sooner? hmmm seems like an excellant form of population control. No gas chambers, no lethal injections, they just stay home, get worse and die. No one to blame, problem solved. Houses get up for sale, good for investors. Dang! It cant get any better than that! Why not hurry it along medicare, no food stamps...wha hooo!

Just add another mark against Willard for this one....there are no marks in the "plus column" for this excuse for a human being.

I disagree with Jean C. Yes, a lot of diseases are caused by unhealthy lifestyles but not all. My husband has leukemia, his father died of it and his mother has it but hers is smoldering. Little did his family know they would all contract the disease many years later due to where they lived which was an industrial inner city area that spewed pollutants into the air. Not only will Romney repeal Heath Care Reform but he'll loosen regulations to companies and give them the right to pollute as they wish.

I haven't been able to afford health insurance for years. I am a Viet Nam era vet so I at least have the VA to fall back on (maybe). I never smoked, drank more than a couple glasses of wine a year or did drugs of any kind (never saw a plus to doing that stuff, just lots of negatives). I have been a vegetarian for a little over a year and go organic mostly. Still haven't kicked my doggone ice cream habit though. ;) Still need to lose about 10 pounds but that will come off soon as I get my bicycle-finally have enough saved for it. YAY! Trouble is, the older you are, the more expensive health insurance is. Guess I will have to wait and see along with a lot of folks in the same boat as me.

It'll be more than 72 million with the Patient Perversion and Unaffordable Care Act as most of the USA ditches healthcare rather than buy insurance under a Communist nationalising of medicine! Obamacare is far worse than even the lousy Tax-achusetts Romney healthscare scam. I wouldn't sign up for or accept care from either.

Earlier this year , at age 85 I had a heart by pass operation and ten days in hospital, Last week I had ten days in hospital with a chest viral infection, MY cost? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

An American on a Yacht 200 miles off the Queensland coast was rescued by helicopter and flown to Brisbane for an emergency appendectomy. His cost? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING

My neighbour's son whilst in transit home from a holiday in the U S A was hospitalised for TWO NIGHTS. (No operation) COST? $8,000 DOLLARS.

Ill admit there are evil forces here, in some political areas, who are trying to adopt the American Way. Mainly Capitalists with vested interests in the private medical and hospital providers areas.

What is more important Money or People? I guess if you have plenty of cash it is a stupid question.

I am always amazed that Americans who are overwhelmingly claimant of affiliation with one Christian denomination or other are so adamantly opposed to helping those less fortunate than themselves.
As I recall events depicted in the "Bible" Christ was supposed to have cured Saints and Sinners alike.

Jean C. A decent health care system should treat ALL equally. None choose to have any particular health deficiency. My late wife died of lung cancer, as have most of her childhood friends, this was from Arsenic in the tailings of their districts Gold Mines of yore which, to this day, still is wind driven around the district.

Do you advocate all those (Predominantly) American Tobacco companies should be paying the medical and funeral expenses of the people they have killed in their millions around the world? Not a bad idea that.

It is high time that a universal health care system should be available equally for all citizens, paid for by taxes, and not left in the profit oriented hands of the so called "Insurance" brokers, who in the main will only accept customers who are unlikely to need care, and should they make a mistake will drop them from their books. or at least limit the what they will pay to an amount that still leaves them with a profit margin. It is Profits before People.

Sane countries don't allow insurance companies to profit from primary health care, only from things like nose jobs and breast enlargement/reduction unless medically necessary.

Christ said your first obligation is to care for the poor and sick. If you support Republicans tyher is no way you can be a good Christian, just a rotten hypocrit.

Yes it is a good theory that everyone will have healthcare. With Obamacare everyone will have to pay to have insurance or they will be fine $$$. From what I hear Obamacare is not going to be as affortable as he is making it out to be. Pre-existing will be offered but, you will have to purchase the Cadillac of Policies to get it. The lesser plan will not have it. But he didn't lie, it is offered, but it will not be very affortable. Also there is going to be $$$ limitations on everyone policy, so you may use your limit up in 6 months and cannot return to the doctor till the next year. Forget needing 2 surgeries in one year. Its not going to be paid for. And I do not have a clue about Medication limits.
Believe me I would love to have an affortable Medical Insurance God knows I personally need it.

Romney has not put a healthcare policy yet, he said he will take a couple of ideas from Obamacare, but not the whole thing. Listen people getting fine is just putting them in debt, just as they are now. So not sure what the difference will be.

If we go with Solicalize medicine we will start seeing less doctors coming out of medical schools, the doctors will not go through all this schooling for the money Socialize medicine will pay them . So we will start having long lines to get to see a doctor, they quality of healthcare will go down. All ready you have doctors that dropped their malpractice insurance which is a fortune for them to pay out. So good luck sueing a doctor they will all be Corporations so you cannot collect on their personal bank accounts.
