A favorite pastime of the business community these days is to complain about how dysfunctional Washington has become. They're right about the dysfunction, of course, but they have nobody to blame but themselves.

Business pay lobbyists and other flappers to make sure it stays dysfunctional - to their advantage. Just look long it has taken to implement the Dodd-Frank reforms since 2009.

I'm not sure it's a pastime - I believe most businesses have deliberate plans to frustrate the workings of effective government. The better to do what they want, when they want. A lot of lobbyists, lawyers and accountants are sending their kids to private school on the money to be made.

Noted; thanks, Carrie. Excellent article! Glad to see it and hope it's widely read. Just another big reason why people are so angry--we send our representatives to DC, they pass reasonable bills to protect their constituents, then these judges say, "sorry, doesn't matter," and rules in favor of Corporations.

This is a disgusting ploy being used by FuxNoise and other rightwing media for years: Call out "activist judges" regarding women's rights or environmental decisions to pander to Conservonut "patriots"...keep using the same mantra and spread it throughout various media. Demonize the judges and make the opposition defend them. Then, turn the tables...while truly "activist judges" make bad judgments in these huge environmental lawsuits that affect the health and well-being of many, while protecting the profits of Corporations and the wealthiest.

Just shows how well the robbingists are doing their jobs. And how well big corporations are at giving us the definition of hypocrisy.
