With polls opening in just a few hours, I want to say this to people who are undecided or lean Republican: Mitt Romney is not like Ronald Reagan or the Bushes or John McCain, all of whom were driven by values, whether you shared them or not.

An excellent commentary. "The GOP has nominated a shallow opportunist who stands for nothing but his own advancement." I couldn't agree more. Thanks for posting, Carrie.

Noted w/thanks, Carrie. Remember, McCain vetted Romney in 2008 and chose she-whose-name-I-will-not-speak as a better V.P. candidate. (He was privvy to those tax returns we can't see). NOW, he's fit to be Pres? And, Ryan is unfit as well...remember he will be POTUS should something happen to Willard.

Thanks Carrie for the link to Mr. Halperin's very accurate assessment of Romney and his campaign, Romney is not someone who needs to be even close to the Oval Office much less sit in it as President. Read and noted.

I can't believe that people would be so dumb to vote for Romney. He's a cold - hearted business man; he evaluates people like money, and if they are not "worthy" he fires them. He's not fit to be the president.
Obama shows much more "humanity"; he's got higher values than the rich who wants to be richer, leaving the poor behind. Please put a stop to the obstructionist No sayers, and vote : Obama-Biden 2012 !!!

Of course in their time there were articles calling Ronald Reagan, President Bush, and John McCain dangerous candidates who were unlike their more respectable Republican forbears. I look forward to the future day when I will read that the Republican candidate of that hour is a dangerous extremist, unlike respectable past Republicans like Mitt Romney. I just hope that they will have to call him President Romney when they take their turn at this silly game.

Reagan, both Bushes, and McCain WERE dangerous candidates. The first three were elected and the country was lucky to survive. (Yes, this applies even to Reagan.) They were all definitely unlike their more respectable forbears, e.g., Ford (under-rated and unlucky), Eisenhower, T. Roosevelt, McKinley, Lincoln. Romney, if he wins, will be classed with Harding, Coolidge, Hoover, and especially Nixon.

I'd like to find out first hand if Romney is unfit for the presidency, but I imagine we'll be stuck with another 4 years of Obama.

Why was Mittens unfit for the presidency? Let me count the ways. We could start with that smug, holier than thou attitude he has while conveniently forgetting that pride goeth before a fall. We could talk for a while about his arrogant, anti-99%, greedy, pro-corporate elitism then move on to his really big problems.

Thanks Carrie.
