The Audacity of Fate, the Arrogance of Self-Deception and the Romney/Ryan Plan: "Let Them Eat Cat Food"

And as I listened to Ann Romney enthrall the crowd at the Republican National Convention with stories of the early years of hardship, when she and Mitt "ate lots of pasta and tuna fish," I had no doubt it was labeled for human consumption, not cats.

I'm sure theirs was sushi grade tuna fish. Sounds like they were dining out at a lot of Italian restaurants and sushi restaurants.

Noted. As Grover Norquist said, "we just need a President to sign this stuff." Terrifying.

Oh this is a BRILLIANT article! Thanks Carrie!

"Had Ann Romney been forced to depend upon her husband's "health care plan" for the rest of the nation, MS would have already put her in a wheelchair by now, assuming the unexcised tumor incubating in her breast didn't kill her first.....
" Meanwhile, the Romneys' five strapping sons spent their young adulthood producing 18 offspring, but not a minute dodging IED's in Iraq or Afghanistan.

" It's something of a family tradition - supporting wars, but not fighting in them. Mitt managed to secure a series of deferments that landed him in Paris rather than Vietnam.
While the Mad Hatters wrap themselves in flags and throw "grass roots" tea parties financed by the billionaire Koch brothers, the Tin Man in the empty suit doesn't even know he's missing a heart.

That pretty much explains how Romney could strap the family Irish setter to the roof of his car and hurtle up the Interstate to Canada without a second thought. Why would he consider the terror of a dog when he made his fortune putting thousands of humans out of work? The Munchkins, after all, were simply potholes on the road to riches.

"And pay no attention to that man behind the curtain - it's just Karl Rove, the great and powerful OZ, conducting the most expansive exercise in thought control since Joseph Goebbels and the Third Reich.

"How else can one explain his ability to convince vast numbers of people to insist upon voting against their own interests, like lemmings marching into the sea?

"As Hitler wrote in Mein Kampf, which Romney paraphrased in the first presidential debate before an audience of 60 million: If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will start to sound like the truth."

Oh these Repuglicons are VILE - and that is not the half of it!

They also seem to declare that rape is God's will - as a real Christian (not a follower of the SupplySide Jesus) who tries every minute to live out my beliefs I take real exception to that - rape is doing the devil's work!

Apologies - I thought I included quotation marks before the "That pretty much explains how Romney could strap the family Irish Setter to the roof of his car..." - that too was a quotation from that brilliant article by Jan Hollingsworth.

I've been through some very tough times and I have survived them. One would not wish them on anyone. Unless Obama wins, dented cat food tins will be a rare luxury for the 47%. Only by that time it may be 60% or 75% or more. America could become a dog eat dog society and forget that to survive such hard times one needs to help each other.
This is a brilliant article and one that I intend to read again a few times.
Please vote Democrat1

This is magnificently stated. Who could argue with it?

Willard will inist that we get dry cat food. The canned stuff is for 1% cats, too good for 99% people.

If we're not careful, we'll all be eating cat food, and it'll be Ol' Roy, not Fancy Feast. Excellent article, Carrie. Thanks.

Someone who has a firm grasp on reality! "Cat-food widows"? This is nothing more than a PROPAGANDA PIECE! My mother was widowed when there were still 7 minor children living at home. Those of us who were a bit older, all WENT TO WORK & helped her make it! Self respect & a strong work ethic, kept us from feeling "ENTITLED" to being "taken care of" by the government!

There was NOTHING Romney said about the 47% that should offend anyone who believes that THOSE WHO CAN, SHOULD BE SELF SUFFICIENT! Those who need help, should have it available! And those who are ABLE-BODIED, should be willing to do whatever it takes to make it!

They want to "Re-Distribute" what someone else worked for!

Here is the complete transcript -- not just the blurbs promoted by the Leftist Media -- And the Communist Propaganda Tool -- "Mother Jones News"

""There are 47% of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47% who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it... These are people who pay no income tax, 47% of Americans pay no income tax. So our message of low taxes doesn't connect. So he'll (President Obama) be out there talking about tax cuts for the rich. I mean, that's what they sell every four years. And so my job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives. What I have to do is convince the five to ten percent in the center that are independents, that are thoughtful, that look at voting one or the other depending upon in some cases emotion, whether they like the guy or not."

The most important part of the statements Romney made were NOT quoted:

"... I'll never convince them that they should take PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and CARE FOR THEIR LIVES. (emphasis mine) What I have to do is convince the five to ten percent in the center that are independents, that are thoughtful"

Folks like me, who as a single mother, worked 2-3 jobs most of the time & taught my children that the "Social Programs" are for those who are TRULY UNABLE to take care of themselves -- NOT FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNWILLING to work hard!!

When I see a young girl, with several children -- OBVIOUSLY FATHERED BY DIFFERENT MEN -- on Welfare, WIC, Section 8 Housing, etc., and she believes she is MORE entitled to the niceties of life -- WITHOUT WORKING FOR THEM -- While I and other working individuals, make hard choices & take care of our families THROUGH HONEST, HARD WORK, I become incensed ... Communiam failed in Russia; in China; in North Korea; in Cuba, etc. Why would anyone want to try the failed policies here?

I am really tired of 1% and their attitudes about their entitlement to lower taxes, a plethora of deductions, lower rates on capitol gains and subsidies for themselves and their preferred corporations and virtually all their cries of anything else being propaganda...including humor that anyone with intelligence can readily see as such if they are in touch with reality and what is factual.

Romney is the modern day Marie Antoinette. She said "let them eat cake" when it was brought to her attention that the people didn't have grain to make bread, not realizing that that same grain was used to make cake batter.

Romney is the same way.....he is completely clueless.

They want to "Re-Distribute" what someone else worked for!"

I don't know anyone who wants to "redistribute" what somebody else worked for. I, and many others, want to reclaim what somebody else STOLE.

Like the women in the article, you don't seem to realize how close you are to starvation. Don't think Grover Norquist and his crowd, or Karl Rove and his crowd, or the Kochs and their crowd, will stop at taking away things that people haven't worked for (if indeed any such thing exists; you clearly have never done the math of trying to feed "several children" on WIC), they will also strip away Social Security and Medicare, which we HAVE both worked for and paid into, just to make another buck.

Communism and socialism are not the same. Democratic socialism DOES work, in countries like Denmark, the happiest in the world. Poland's economy is doing well because they have worked hard to reduce dependency on fossil fuels, something we will never be allowed to do if Romney is elected. Our own country was in far better financial shape in the Eisenhower years, when the top tax bracket was 90%, than it has ever been since.

What doesn't work is trusting the rich, even as much as an inch. They are not in it for you.

Mormons going to other countries. Yes, I've met them in Denmark, a wealthy country where they try to convince us to become like them. In my opinions the mormons is a sect like Jehovas Wtiness, Sciencetology and should not be taken serious.
