House GOP Keeps Focused on Susan Rice

The fresh GOP criticism of U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice has angered many Democrats, who say Republicans are making her a scapegoat for the administration's response to the deadly assault on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi.

Thanks Carrie. This is so disgusting. You know, if Sen McCain ever stops abruptly while he's walking, Sen Lindsay Graham's nose will go right up Sen McCain's ass. Sorry, I felt I had to say that.

As I understand it - Susan Rice repeated the information given to her by the Intelligence Community and for this the GOP/TP are intent on vilifying her. Condaleeza Rice on the other hand told the world that Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction - on information given to her by the Intelligence Community and she was COMPLETELY wrong!. Where is their anger, their rage, their apparently eternal hatred for CR? (See Soledad O'Brien's interview with a Right Wing apologist if you really want to see someone tying themselves into knots calling wrong right, and right wrong!).

I can see it the headline now "Senator Lindsay Graham Suffering From Whip Lash After Following Senator John McCain Too Closely". They are both fools.

Thanks, Thomas P - I'm STILL laughing at your comment!

If the House GOP continues this nonsense of using Susan Rice as a scapegoat, they will rue the day when they are up for re-election! Keep it up, GOP - we need a Democratic House with Nancy Pelosi at the helm!

Noted. Thanks, Carrie. Pat A. said it all for me....just burns me up.

I have an idea why McShame keeps getting elected....living here in AZ it's pretty common knowledge that McCain's staff fields requests from many constituents....especially the elderly having problems with Soc.Sec. or Medicare payments, and he's taken a stand to help those find "deadbeat dads" to pay child support, as well as any other requests a constituent may have. Very attentive. He could say the sky is purple, and no one would flinch because of their appreciation. However, there's a large group of Dems/Progressives just dying to have a Dem. senator from AZ. We almost made it this time with Carmona, and are very unhappy about Flake's win. I'm sure more will be hearing about this Flake in upcoming months.

I'm wondering about Thomas said about McCain and which side of body that butt might be, cause it sure sounds like his talking out of his back side. Could someone please explain to this man, that his bitterness from 2000, and 2008 are of no interest to anyone? Do not show this on the news, it is not news. He is nothing but a bitter old wind bag.

Sure, it was probably Susan Rice and Obama himself that surreptitiously slipped into Benghazi and managed to cause one of the many rebel factions to attack the embassy. Dopey, Sneezey and Doc were whistling "hi - ho, hi - ho" as the McCain, Graham nut bars lead in the polls for whack-a-doodles of the year.

McCain definitely needs to find a nice quiet place somewhere. I am surprised that his colleagues are so willing to submit to his irrational ravings. It appears that the GOP has learned nothing and is willing to submit to the ravings of a bitter old man.

McCain lost the election in 2008 - A fact he has never been able to accept. He chose the Wasilla, Alaska village idiot as his running mate. He has quite irrationally blamed Obama for that also. It is quite sad that this sad old man has been allowed to continue in politics.

His only claim to fame has been his time in service and his time as a POW. All that is appreciated, but McCain is not a great man, nor will he ever be. He is weak, amoral, and most recently proven himself to be dishonest.

The GOP is still upset that they spent countless millions on trying to get Governor Romney into office, just to watch Obama slide by. Anyways, I'm Democratic, and personally think Susan Rice is a good candidate to replace Hillary Clinton. I also think people need to realize that there was no credible evidence that this was a pre planned attack. Even if it was pre planned, it wasn't supposed to be that big.

TomCat S. has his finger right on the button. When the GOP behaves like this, whipping up a fear or hate campaign, one has to ask oneself what are they covering up or want to distract people form.

Liberals can be very entertaining on topics like this. As usual, they miss the point because to "get" the point would put them in a position of criticizing Obama.

Susan Rice was a puppet. Someone told her what to say and how to say it. The only problem with that is by then Obama already knew it was a terrorist attack....in fact, many knew it was a terrorist attack and because it was close to the election, they blamed it on a video.

Patraeus will set this story upright....because he knew right away that it was a terrorist attack.

Obama said, "If you want to come after someone come after me." Well, let's go after Obama. Let's put him in Rice's position and under oath have him answer the questions.

Works for me. After all, both democrats and republicans want to know the truth, yes?

Diane is correct here. Some dweeb in the White House made the changes to the talking points. The sad point is that Ms rice was too blind politically and dumb ethically to see that and tell the truth...which would not have hurt anyone at that point.

This may be the most ridiculous argument of the year. What KIND of truth does anyone need about 3 people accompanied by a Navy Seal in a war zone in a Interim facility that has less security than the embassies protected by Marines. Do your police in your town after discovered a murder tell the public all the evidence and what they are investigating ? GET REAL !!!
2002 Pakistan 10 killed--2004 Uzbukistan 7 killed - 2004 Saudi Arabia 8 killed--
2006 syria 1 killed - 2008 yemen 10 killed
nothing like that ever happened to the republican's watch ? I don't remember an complaint or investigation about that or the "invisible" man's incompetence. That's the hypocrisy of it all.

You mean they keep the focus on their own irrelevancy... As in not improving it. And I'm also focused on why they get to collect paychecks at all for doing nothing but harm through obstruction. Cutting the deficit... Start with their paychecks. Conditions should be met before they can collect.

As opposed to Con Rice towing the party line despite sound Intelligence that an AlQaeda attack was imminent, yet listening to the discredited Intelligence that there were WNDs. 8-11 happened on her watch... Yet McCain had no prob supporting Con Rice. McCain's and the GOPs sour grapes are showing.

Once again, the liberals are highly selective in what they want to discuss about Benghazi. The Embassy was lean, very lean, on security and they asked for more security from the State Department. Someone in high places said, "No, we aren't giving you more security." Who was that person? Aren't any of the liberals curious? Four Americans were MURDERED because of lack of security. The Ambassador to Libya and several CIA operatives were told to "stand down" and not respond and when they disregarded the order they went to the annex and got killed.

Liberals, start at the top of the story, and then go down for your answers. The State Department had instructions NOT to provide more security for this Embassy. The question is who gave this order and why.

Liberals aren't capable of criticizing Obama's role in Benghazi. As far as Obama appointing Susan Rice as Secretary of State, well, my guess is that he will reward for a job well done by stepping forward "with her script" to keep the Benghazi story under wraps until the election was over. He will reward her now. Will she be a good Secretary of State? Well, she couldn't be any worse than Hillary Clinton.

Tom said it - it's the distraction from dealing with the real issues. (and I'm sorry I can't send you another star yet, Thomas P!)
Almost 5000 soldiers killed in the (unnecessary, totally Bush war) in Iraq. Not to mention that every 80 minutes, a former veteran commits suicide. It's sad that these 4 people were killed in Benghazi - but there are tragedies and horrible events every day. To drag on and on with this one event is a bit ridiculous. And Diane, I'm not sure if you know how very condescending you always sound, but it does wear thin.

These obstructionist should be investigated by the FBI for trying to overthrow the government of the US.
Not doing their jobs for the people and taking our money while trying to destroy our President is TREASON.
Why is that never brought up ? These people should be fired or locked in a closet for every vote and made to return every day of pay that was spent trying to stop the President from being re elected instead of working, on our dime. Investigate them then Fire them.

Republicans have accepted the fact that Obama won another four years. Liberals will get what they voted for and that's fine with me.

This thread is about who knew what and when. Are the liberals incapable of criticizing Obama and/or wanting to know what is not being told to you by your elected officials?

Do you not care what is going on in the White House? Or, do you simply accept that everything Obama tells you is the actual truth? I've read your comments for the past several years where many of you have stated that politicians lie. Obama is a politician unless you have given him "saint" status. Always keep your eyes and ears open when it comes to elected officials. It is your duty to hold them to the truth. After all, they work FOR YOU.

Well, Arielle, just because "Tom" said it doesn't make it true. Tom is an internet person just like the rest of us. None of really know Tom and he doesn't know who we are.

This is anything BUT a distraction. This is about telling lies before the election to create a "distraction" from the actual truth. The actual truth is that Obama knew and Patraeus knew immediately that it was a terrorist attack and Obama used Susan Rice as a mouthpiece to promote that it was a video that caused the attacks.

Bottom line, and it it remarkable that the liberals don't care, is that this Embassy asked for more security and didn't receive it. Four Americans died. And, the liberals don't seem to care about that because they are too busy protecting Obama and Susan Rice.

This is just one more distraction and look who started it MCCAIN. McCain still hasn't forgiving President Obama for beating him badly to become President and he has been a pain in the butt ever since. I wish the people in Arizona would get as smart as the masses and finally vote this jerk out of office. He is no hero to me. never has been and never will be.

Diane O. (149)
Sunday November 25, 2012, 2:45 pm
Marilyn, McCain and Lindsey Graham to name only two people have questioned why Susan Rice would step out and say what she said when Obama knew at that very moment that it WAS a terrorist attack. That is what we are discussing here. This isn't about McCain losing to Obama LOL. That was over long ago. I don't believe anyone cares if you like McCain or not but he has a right to question what Obama knew and when he knew it. And, trust me, McCain and Graham aren't the only ones who want the truth. I hope Obama has to testify on this lie of his. People need to know what a liar he is. He wanted to keep the terrorist attack under wraps because it was so close to election day. That was WRONG....and then to sacrifice Susan Rice by sending her out there to make a fool of herself. Why are mad at McCain? You should be mad at Obama for putting Susan Rice in that position!

Susan Rice's first crime is that she is a woman. The second is that she got up in public and reported what facts she was given in the best way possible. The third and worst crime is that she could actually take a political position away from a man. I would love to see those who are so angry with Obama stand up to all the obstructionism and keep our country on tract. Funny how so many people "know" what Obama and the White House knew. Perhaps running for office should be their next act... save us all from having to think.

The conclusion: Romney's precise comment was false. Obama did describe the killings in Benghazi as an act of terror twice in the two days after the attack.

Claim: "There were requests for extra security. Those requests were not honored," Rep. Paul Ryan said during the vice presidential debate.

Conclusion: The GOP-led House did initially approve about $330 million less than what the administration requested, but in the final bill, passed with bipartisan support after adjustments by the [Democratic] Senate, put the amount a little closer to the administration's target.

Claim: During a foreign policy speech at the Virginia Military Institute, the Republican presidential nominee said the number of ships in the U.S. fleet were equivalent to that of the fleet in 1916. And to address that, he wanted to bolster the Navy overall by building 15 ships a year, including three submarines.

Conclusion: While Romney is fairly close in assessing the size of the U.S. Naval fleet, his claim is basically pointless.

What you should be angry about is that the president put her in that position in the first place. He knew it was a terrorist attack. Patraeus said from the beginning it was a terrorist attack. Are you saying that Patraeus kept it to himself? Not a chance. Obama is lying. Plain and simple. He needs to take responsibility for what he did to Susan Rice. If, in fact, she knew it was a terrorist attack my bet is that she would've told Obama "no, get someone else to say that because that is not true." If she knew and lied she should never be the Secretary of State.

It's amazing that people like Diane think they are privy to the workings of our national security and how and why information is released. No one was lying and no one was or is hiding anything. I think the republicans are judging others by their own dishonesty self serving lies to promote things - You know, like that war with Iraq.

Carrie, you have to pay attention. We have documentation that Obama knew before Susan Rice stepped out to make her little speech. Patraeus knew immediately. All of this is coming out. It's Obama's Watergate....when he tells lies he needs to be accountable. Obama doesn't get a pass for telling lies. And, how he used Susan Rice to state it was a video that caused four Americans to be murdered is something else...to protect the democrats several days before the election. It was wrong. It will all come out. The truth always does.

This is about Barack Obama not the war in Iraq. I know you don't have much to explain why Obama lied so you bring up Iraq. Now you can call me a racist. That's the usual line of posting here. When all else fails in trying to support Obama use the race card and Iraq.

Lest we forget that on Friday August 14, 2009 Senators McCain, Graham and part time democrat Lieberman met with Colonel Gadhafi in Tripoli and promised to expediate teh delivery of defense equipment. Nothing like hanging with a sponsor of terrorism remember Pan Am flight 103's crash in Lockerbie Scotland. Then they bashed President Obama for not taking strong enough actions to depose Gadhafi. Now they are beating up Susan Rice for the four tragic deaths in Bengazi. Then McCain held a press conference to proclaim that he was not getting answers at the same time his committee was holding a hearing to get the answers. First they hang out in a tent with a terrorist and pledge support, than they criticize others for not treating said terrorist harshly enough. Afterwards they criticize deaths attributable to the chaos and uncetainty that occurred after the overthrow of the terrorist head of state. Does the term schizophrenia mean anything to the senators? I am old enough to remember when McCain and Graham were sane.

Apparently Obama saying it was an act of terror the day after the attack is not enough for the disgruntled losers of the last election. Obama won again, the people have spoken, and now the wing-nuts are grasping at straws and wagging the dog. I am confident that the administration will come forth with exactly what happened when they finish investigating the attack. Susan Rice said what she knew, period. Get over it, it won't work but hey, I'm sure they'll try something else, you know like maybe he really wasnt' born here, he's a Muslim, he's black....whoops, there you have the real answer to their constant attacks but as they lie, they'll never admit it. Assholes...

Well, just because Diane said it doesn't make it true - as we all know.

I had hopes that after the election - seeing as how the people voted for Obama and all - that the hate, lies and disparagement would end and we might all start working together for the good of the country. The only one who has made the slightest leaning in that direction is John G. Too bad.

So nice to see Diane O. lying her ass off as usual. First off O ignorant one, Benghazi was not an Embassy, it was not even a Consulate it was a tiny Mission. Second, the CIA was running a black op there at the time and the CIA refused to send more security. Third, Rice was reading, with the appropriate caveats, the exact same talking points that were being given to McCain et alia. Fourth, O lying parrot, it was the Repug/Tea Bagged members of the US House that cut more than HALF A BILLION in security funding for the State Department. Damn, Darrell Issa himself that called the State Department request for additional security funds, and I quote, "Crap.". Then there is the fact that after this second spanking by Obama and the Dems the Repug/Tea Bagged are pissed and they can not do a thing to Obama so they are taking pot shots at soft targets in his Administration, just like any good fear and hate mongering terrorist would. And face it Condi Rice has backed up what Susan Rice said and did.
And one thing nearly all of you have forgotten is the fact that this completely politically based attack on S. Rice is not just being pushed by McCain and Graham it is also being pushed by Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) evidently she is going to become the Graham to Graham's McCain.

Diane O...you talk about facts, then you say things like "..couldn't be any worse than Hillary Clinton" Really? Here are some facts: She enjoys the highest approval rating of any prior Sec of State, and of anybody in Pres Obama's cabinet. One more thing....everybody here is not an "internet person." Some of us have careers & fit in our main goal of helping animals and this is a way to earn points. There's nothing wrong with being an "internet person," but the way you often label people is offensive & presumptuous. One can have a discourse w/o being nasty.

Sometimes it is best to ignore the talking trolls. Just serve up a plate of sour grapes with a large portion of whine, and let them blather on, and on ...and on. Facts pass over their heads and off into the stratosphere. If the worst insult one has for me or any one of you is that you are liberals, smile and say thank you for noticing.

Thom's blog
The race-baiting and hyper paranoid conspiracy theories continue...

From the "three amigos" in the Republican Party. Senators John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and Kelly Ayotte continued their attacks against our UN Ambassador Susan Rice on Tuesday after the three met with her in a closed-door meeting. Republicans are accusing Rice of purposefully misleading the American people in the days after the Benghazi attack when she gave several interviews based on CIA intelligence that's now been proven to be untrue. Senator McCain and others contend that Rice was involved in a White House conspiracy to cover up the fact that the Benghazi attacks may have been an act of terrorism.

In reality though, the "fog of war" is most likely responsible for the CIA getting intelligence wrong in the days after the attack. But just like they've done with the President, Attorney General Eric Holder, and Van Jones - all African Americans - Republicans are smearing the reputation of Susan Rice to scuttle her potential nomination as Secretary of State. Curiously, McCain and Graham were nowhere to be found with Colin Powell and Condi Rice lied to Congress and the UN about weapons of mass destruction in the lead up to war in Iraq.

This is all manufactured hyperventilation. Republicans want John Kerry to be Secretary of State instead of Susan Rice, so that Kerry will have to leave his Massachusetts Senate seat, and Republican oligarchs like Sheldon Adelson and the Koch Brothers can buy it back for Scott Brown. This is nothing more than machine politics by Republicans who have no problem exploiting a tragedy overseas that killed a U.S. ambassador.
