As states in the Mid-Atlantic lined up for the jobs and tax revenue that would come with drilling deep into the shale to release gas, Maryland held back. Gov. Martin O'Malley (D) and other state officials said no thanks.

Well that's another sad article - it seems both Maryland and New York State can not learn from the mistakes of so many other states. Of course, they COULD learn and move to protect the citizens, but hey, where's the money in that? Isn't it interesting how the worst possible decisions reap those in charge the greatest personal wealth?

Just don't do it, Maryland! Sad that there is so much blind rushing after short-term profits and blindness to the long- and short-term negative effects of fracking.

Noted. Thanks, Carrie. The ONLY benefit I can see from fracking is money. The harm to the environment and people's health and property....not to mention the earth and animals, doesn't even in any way balance out the financial profit. Where I see this as "no-brainer" not to frack, it continues to boggle my mind that anyone could actually believe there are any benefits to fracking....except for those financially profiting directly from it.

I too hope that they make the right decision. When will our world ever come to their senses when it comes to taking care of the planet? Thanks Carrie

We are forever hearing about poisoned water where fracking is taking place and still states and governments around the world are debating whether it is safe or not. Its clear that the money lords and greedy politicians have no children or grandchildren and therefore don't give a damn about the future. So what if a couple of million innocent people are poisoned, a small price they had to pay to give him or her a more luxurious lifestyle.
Why on earth do we continue to vote for these brain dead plucker's.
