Just a thought here but, I wonder if this issue like some many others isn't getting lost in so many personal cause initiatives? I think we gain strength by having one very strong group working for all of us with our voices in one LOUD voice that says "ENOUGH". I worry that too many organizations water down the power and influence of each issue. I think it's better to fight the "Nay Sayers" with one well funded organization that has the vocal and financial support of people that truly want to make a difference.

I think Gifford and Kelly are very strong voices for gun control.

More laws against people who do not commit crime in response to acts which required breaking several laws in the process of committing them. Makes sense to me. (interpret sarcasm as necessary)

Gabby Giffords & Mark Kelly

Americans for Responsible Solutions, which we are launching today, will invite people from around the country to join a national conversation about gun violence prevention, will raise the funds necessary to balance the influence of the gun lobby, and will line up squarely behind leaders who will stand up for what's right.

Dear fellow American,

Two years ago, a mentally ill young man shot me in the head, killed six of my constituents, and wounded 12 others. Since that terrible day, America has seen 11 more mass shootings but no response from Congress to prevent gun violence. After the massacre of 20 children and six of their teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary though, its clear: This time must be different.

Americans for Responsible Solutions will encourage elected officials to stand up for solutions to prevent gun violence and protect responsible gun ownership by communicating directly with the constituents that elect them.

Join us today, and tell your elected leaders that Americans are demanding responsible solutions to reduce gun violence.

Please take a moment to read our op-ed.

Noted w/thanks, Carrie. Things are heating up here in Tucson. Kozachik, who was mentioned in the article, has now turned in his GOP card and joined the Dem party. Rightwingnuts are continuing to hawk their allegiance with NRA gun nuts. Grassroots groups for gun regulation are planning upcoming protests. Just hoping that those with guns are not in attendance. Our Gov. is giving her state-of-the-state speech today--previously she would not sign a bill allowing guns on campuses...we'll soon find out which guns she's sticking to.
