True enough the map and observations in the article are fascinating and probably indicative of the times. China has become more critically important and Russia more open (at times) to open talks. The Secretary of State must feel some what glued to the plane.

Very interesting article Carrie. The Secretary of State has to be on the go most of the time. I think a veery difficult position, and Hillary Clinton is (soon was), the best.

Take a mean cost of dollars per flight hour and figure the cost of all this travel then reflect on whether or not the expense was justified. also, remember that it costs more to fly in military aircraft (such as AF1 and the other USA planes). Also remember when people rail against the defense budget that every last penny for this comes from the DOD budget!
