When they're not coming for yours, presidents love their guns. Below, photos of modern presidents enjoying their right to bear arms. (And scroll down for some bonus shots featuring Eleanor Roosevelt, Dick Cheney, and Joe Biden.)

Perry is Scary! The thought of affable, but unsteady-at-times President Ford scared me that he might have hurt himself.........Reagan's picture is odd like Perry's too.....

Thanks Carrie. At least Barack and Joe were using water pistols. Hope springs eternal on this issue.

Liked the one of Teddy. A true rough and tumble character. Remember, Teddy advocated health cares
for all Americans. Took 100 years for health for all americans became a reality.

Obama & Biden josting around with squirt toys is a hoot.

Ike was not a stranger to weapons. Nor was Kennedy. Both served in WW II.

Perry is a perky jerk and has no business holding any kind of weapon.

MIA is the one of cheney shooting the face off of his judge friend while hunting.

Ty, Carrie.

As a vet, I am all for the 2nd amendment and private ownership of a wide range of firearms.

HOWEVER, when some headcase that tries to make the argument that he needs that .223 or 7.62 assault rifle for "home defense", I am forced to laugh in his face. They are not made for that; they are made for combat in the field, not room-clearing. You want a gun for home defense, you will get a lot more belief from me than if you try to tell me that your CAR-15 or AK-47 is for "home defense"; because when you try to tell me that, you are nothing but a lunatic prepper.

Most importantly, take note that JFK was only INSPECTING the m-16 in the one picture and Reagan was accepting the AR-15 as a gift in his picture. All of the rest of the pictures, not a single politician there was using anything other than a standard type rifle or pistol.....and the picture of Dick Cheney was at a shooting gallery where there was a maximum of control over the ability to use the weapon, by the look of it, a pellet gun; not quite the same as he was using when he had that "accident".

POTUS, et al, can control, make laws and restrictions and the "bad guy's" will still have all the assualt weapons they need / desire. "Joe Citizen" is the one who's chooices become limited.
These are all "knee jerk" reactions. I am all for background checks, but how are you really going to limit the gangs and the mentally ill ? Background checks ?
But hey, I don;t have the "total solution" either.
