Experts Throw Cold Water On Iranian Space Monkey

Following Iran's announcement that the county had sent a monkey into space and successfully retrieved it, space experts in the U.S. told BuzzFeed Monday that the achievement is not as impressive as it sounds. Some think it might not have happened at all.

I sincerely hope they didn't send a monkey up. As far as I know, monkeys don't want to go to space. Thanks Carrie!

I saw a photo of the monkey, bundled into a restraint of some kind, and the poor thing looked terrified. Cruel and inhumane treatment of animals for whatever reason is not admirable. I know that NASA initially sent monkeys into space but that doesn't make it right.

I have to agree with all of the comments here. I would like to believe that they did not send a monkey up, but if they did, it should not have been allowed to happen. I, too, saw the picture of the monkey and the terror on it's poor little face wrenched my heart. I can think of quite a few people they should have sent up instead and yes, on a one way flight. What is more frightening though, is the implications behind their ability to send rockets into space. And their claim that they only want to be able to monitor earthquake activity and other so called benign reasons.
