A Brief (Almost Silent) History Of Abortion In The Movies (TEXT and VIDEO)

Despite the fact that the ratings system, New Hollywood, and the pro-choice movement all converged rather contemporaneously, the history of abortion in American movies is largely a history of absence.

I would kind of like to see "Quilters" made into a movie - with all the music - and without messing with the script. The almost dream-like ambiguity of the actual abortion scene is what makes it thought-provoking.

Noted. They left out "Love With the Proper Stranger" with Natalie Wood & Steve McQueen. As a child, I watched this movie when it played on TV. Quite an education I got then. The only "fantasy" was the happy ending, which even then, I knew there would be much more to....would've love to have seen a sequel.

Lois, "Love With the Proper Stranger" is one of my favorite movies! Thanks for mentioning it.
