TEXT of Article:

"A new study has once again confirmed that same-sex couples are just as effective at raising children as opposite-sex couples. Focusing specifically on children adopted at an early age, the study compared gay and lesbian couples to straight couples who were all becoming parents for the first time. Though there were differences in the children’s psychological adjustment, they were not affected by their family type.
What the study actually found is that when parents adopt, how prepared parents were and how depressed parents were impacted their children:
Parents’ level of preparation for the adoption was related to both externalizing and internalizing symptoms, such that parents who were less prepared reported more symptoms in their children.
Parents’ depressive symptoms were also related to externalizing and internalizing symptoms in adopted children, such that more depressed parents reported more symptoms in their children. Depressive symptoms may compromise parents’ emotional availability and ability to parent effectively, which can contribute to child adjustment problems.
Conservatives have tried to argue that same-sex couples are selfish for wanting to have children, arguing against marriage equality because marriage should be about what’s best for children, not adults. In fact, just today the National Organization for Marriage endorsed the viewpoint of Robert Oscar Lopez, who has called same-sex parenting “child abuse,” describing adoption as “buying other human beings as property.”
This study suggests that it’s that very “selfishness” that contributes to the success of same-sex parenting that studies have consistently found. Processes like adoption and surrogacy are so arduous, expensive, and even heartbreaking that couples must be passionately committed to the idea of raising a child. Likewise, same-sex couples will not have any accidental children they did not intentionally decide to raise.
If social conservatives are truly committed to the well-being of children, they should stop worrying about the gender of their parents and focus on ensuring that all families have the support and resources they need. (HT: Mombian.)"

GREAT video, lmao. What the hell IS an eggplant? :^)

Wouldn't this be nice. If conservatives showed that they cared about children AFTER they are born half as much as they do before they are born, there would be no shortage of great teachers, there would be actual learning going on, not studying to pass tests which teaches kids nothing, there would be government funded early childhood education, health care, child care and public education through the collegiate level or trade school because this is in the best interest of the NATION, not just its children - remember these are the people who will be your care givers when you need them. Teach your children well should be the motto of this country, not e pluribus unum. Children are our greatest natural resource and should be treated as the treasures they are not only pre birth but once born as well. Anything less, should be, simply unAmerican. Those are people centric values and they should cross conservative and progressive party lines because they make SO much sense.

Not the least bit surprised, thanks for the posting
I can't send you another star, Gene, but thanks for the comment.
People centric values are not what the conservatives hold, they hold themselves in fear of anything that does not conform to the dogma by which they (say) they live.

Oh for heavens sake! This is just beyond ridiculous . Am so tired of reading this type of report. Its right up there with being told to eat healthy. Most sensible people don't need to be told what their common sense already knows. As for the rest, pay attention people , wake up and be reasonable human beings. Aren't you tired of living in ignorance. So much for love and understanding. Can't wait for equality.Oh, by the way, I am a straight woman, not that it matters.

It can be done, but, ideally, children need a mother and a father.Just like a single parent can do a good job by themselves, but it is still better if they have a mother and a father. Both boys and girls need both a male and a female positive role model.

At least once a month an article will appear about gay couples making great parents. This has long been statistically proved.

Thanks for posting, Carrie.
Of course they do! An obvious answer to me, and yet, they are so vilified by a loud, obnoxious and mean Moral Majority that you'd think they're lepers. Time to put all those nasty detractors out to pasture; a new generation is coming, and they're brimming with tolerance to the point that they don't understand what all the fuss is about.
