A House Republican scheme to strip food stamp funding out of the farm bill would lead to the program being weakened or even outright dismantled, according to poverty experts.

I will never understand why the repuglicans want to starve the people in the lowest income bracket! They are going to rue the day they get rid of Food Stamps!

Why should the poorest people always be the one to suffer? We need to help them, not punish them. Our politicians should be ashamed. There is always money for leading a war, helping banks and corporations with our tax money. We, as the tax payers, should have the right to decide to whom is money is going.

Why! Because they don't care! They don't care about anything, but themselves

Vivian, the answer is that "They don't care..." and that they really do want "the only money left," to be "for them."
To put it another way, and this may sound weird, until you read "Capitalism Hits the Fan," by Richard Wolff, and "Democracy For the Few," by Michael Parenti. Both are professors, Wolff at MIT.
The idea is that the Repuglicans want to go back to, and have been working on it gradually, pre-New Deal America, the America of the Robber Barons.
I could go on, and on, but that's it, in a nutshell; that's what "Citizens United" is all about: giving the Plutocrats the financial leverage to run the country their way, the way in which they can get as much of MORE as they want.
Birgit, you are right! The wars are run, by the way, to protect and defend the Plutocrats' investments; here and abroad. the politicos yell "Patriotism!" because they know they won't get volunteers if they yell "Cannon Fodder!"

So sad that in this case it's a material world. In my world, those who are most needy should be a priority! The Republicans have really shown themselves to be very uncaring=for them it's all about the $$$$$ AND YES=THEMSELVES! Thanks Carrie for this posting~

Republicans hate having children's need linked to corporate greed.

Back to serfdoms and slavery? Or death? Or revolution? We still have choices such as they are...

Disgusting. And everything gets funneled up to the ultra-rich. How much money does the 1% need, anyway?

How much money do the 1% need? Why, they need it all. You know the quote about not finding out until it's too late that you can't eat money? They also won't find out until after all the workers are dead that work doesn't do itself. They will actually have to work for a change.

Many Democrats were reportedly ready to hold their noses on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) cuts and support the full package.

Well the Democrats as well as everyone else better stand up to this cutting back on FOOD.

I'm so sick and tired of the Republicans throwing people under the bus and the Democrats saying well I don't like it but OK.

No, it's NOT OK. Get a backbone and fight these HEARTLESS ONES.

FOOD is NOT a luxury item!

Talk about a penny saved a pound foolish.

Without proper nutrition people of all ages become ill and end up using medical services more often, if they are on Medicare or Medicaid that is taxpayer supported. Oh yes, they want to do away with those things as well, ok so die on the streets I suppose, quickly and quietly too.

Children without proper nutrition can not concentrate in school, it affects their development, and the children are the future of this Country. Oh, yes, that is right, only THEIR RICH CHILDREN should be around to make the Country. If the children can't eat, can't grow, can't perform well, they are better off dead, in prison making a bit more money for the FOR PROFIT prisons we have, or toss them in a war someplace for the Plutocrats Special Interests.

The cover is off, the GREEDY and most definitely HEARTLESS Ones do not care about any one except for their own self interests. They may guise it in "this will be helpful", this is "for your own good", this is what the "Founding Fathers wanted" or even worse, use their Bible to find reason to STARVE children and Elders, who by the way are the majority of people being Served by Food Stamps.
